I’ll start

Support bubble.

I’ll happily go the rest of my life never hearing this phrase. In fact even the word bubble has exceeded its usage quota for the entire rest of time.

What is yours?

Whammyyammy DH and I saw someone with a big "#keyworker" sticker on their car the other day. What sort of absolute knob does that?!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/12/2020 12:44

I forgot ‘outside of’.

As in ‘outside of the town centre’. The ‘of’ is redundant, you pillocks!

And ‘there is’ with a plural, but it’s everywhere now, like the sodding pandemic - even among supposedly intelligent, educated people.

Phew, I feel better now. Cheers! 🍷🎅🏻🎄

DPotter · 24/12/2020 12:44

Mine is using 'passed' instead of died, as in " He passed last Sunday".

I have to really bite my lip not to ask "Passed what last Sunday - the salt, the post office, wind?"

Basically I hate and loathe euphemisms for death. The person is dead, just say it !

However I do like the euphemism "He is Ex" when describing a dead person. I believe it's a west African phrase - but could be wrong here.

PoloNeckKnickers · 24/12/2020 12:46

'Nope'. What is wrong with the word 'no'? Why add extra letters to a very short word?

PoloNeckKnickers · 24/12/2020 12:46

Oh, and I hate 'waiting on' when it should be 'waiting for'.

DPotter · 24/12/2020 12:47

Oh and another one...on a roll now (That'll piss someone off - sorry!)

missing out 'the' - as in "In Store today" or one that really bugs me "In resort" (cast your minds back to foreign holidays.... ). It's 'In the store today' or 'In the resort'

Grrr

Bet they're not actually a proper key worker. My bet is on office worker for a key worker-type organisation (eg working from home)
yellowmaoampinball · 24/12/2020 12:53

Sourced.

It is what it is - the most stupid, pointless and inane, means nothing phrase ever.

EastBoundAndDown · 24/12/2020 12:56

"Oven-ready" Brexit deal.
It just makes me cringe. 😂

Aubergina · 24/12/2020 12:56

Casually racist ones like "Chinese whispers" or "Irish twins"

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 24/12/2020 12:57

Touch Base
Reach Out
(I’ve heard DH say both of these on work calls this year because he’s been working at home. Luckily, in normal life, he’s absolutely adorable, so the divorce is on hold. Third strike and he’s out Grin)

lidoshuffle · 24/12/2020 12:58

"Hard working families", makes me want to punch every single politician that trots that out."

Yes; the use of "families" when it should be "households" or "people". Don't single people count?

MyGazeboisLeaking · 24/12/2020 12:59

Ahhh, @purplemunkey - you missed a great opportunity to @WorraLiberty there...

"Are you me???" 😂😂😂😂

MrsSchrute · 24/12/2020 13:00

'Hit me' as in 'Hit me with your top dinner ideas'.
Makes me RAGE!! You really want me to hit you? Really? Grrrr

MarshaBradyo · 24/12/2020 13:00

Support bubble
Keyworker
Blended learning

All in the trash can with you!

Plus
poorly

Any phrase that reflects body parts
Eyes peeled
Ear worm
Pick your brain

Yuck!

MyGazeboisLeaking · 24/12/2020 13:01

@beguilingeyes

All of the shitty corporate speak 'reach out'. 'going forward' etc 'service user', WTAF

and 'Like'. People who's very other word is like. 'I was like' and 'she was like' Miriam Margolys (sp?) was very funny on Graham Norton with Will.I.Am on this subject

Just out of interest, what alternative would you suggest for 'service user'?

Greenmarmalade · 24/12/2020 13:02

lidoshuffle · 24/12/2020 13:04

"Reading the room"; I'd never heard it till a short whole ago but it's everywhere now.

chaosisaladder · 24/12/2020 13:04

I hate:

“She caught quickly” “when did she catch”

Or an variant when talking about getting pregnant. It’s just gross

chaosisaladder · 24/12/2020 13:04
