AIBU or should the song “Boris Johnson is a f c*” be banned from Amazon Music/iTunes/the charts/Christmas number one?

Whatever your political views might be, surely this shouldn’t be allowed?

OP posts:
YaHabeebee · 21/12/2020 02:33

On what grounds it shouldn't be allowed?

HPLikecraft · 21/12/2020 02:37

It’s a terrible song. Just the same dull thing repeated again and again.
If it had any genuine wit, humour or hint of creativity then I’d have no problem with it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/12/2020 02:44

Is that you Boris. It was a pretty shitty thing that you did wasn't it.

Putting certain regions into Tier 4 not even a week before Christmas after people have gone out and spent their money. Im not saying you're a cunt so don't come for me, but It was a bit of a cunty thing to do now wasn't it. !

This cracked me up 😂

Exactly .... on what grounds OP?

Stompythedinosaur · 21/12/2020 02:51

Swearing at politicians is practically a British tradition.

TrickorTreacle · 21/12/2020 03:07

Mr Blobby was allowed.

Let this be allowed.

OP is B U. Get over it :-P

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 21/12/2020 03:07

Think of it as an affirmation of the privilege of living in a country where criticism of the government is allowed.
And chill, it's not worth the brain power needed to get upset about.

NewLockdownNewMe · 21/12/2020 03:14

In a time when our civil liberties have been swept aside as though they never existed, I think it is incredibly important that it is not banned. We have to be able to criticise our government and hold them to account - whether that’s through democratic elections or crappy offensive songs.

MrDarcyismines · 21/12/2020 03:18

Haven't heard but it sounds pathetic. Yanbu.

Janonomouse · 21/12/2020 03:40

It isnt a patch on the Nick Clegg one from 2011, but I appreciate the sentiment.

wheretoyougonow · 21/12/2020 03:41

YANBU
What an awful song. What message are we giving out that it's ok to single a person out and effectively swear at them and publicly call them names? The people downloading this are probably the same ones that were telling everyone to 'Be Kind'.

prawntoastie · 21/12/2020 03:43

Never heard of it can't be bothered or care to search it

inquietant · 21/12/2020 03:46

A PM gets singled out because they are the PM, this is pretty obvious.

If the song isn't illegal, it shouldn't be banned.

Flaxmeadow · 21/12/2020 04:06

Yes and puerile

If it had any genuine wit, humour or hint of creativity then I’d have no problem with it.

Milk Media videos had genuine wit and creativity when they went for Corbyn. Not their own song obviously, but Antisemitism Road Trip was a classic

Ponoka7 · 21/12/2020 04:08

Unless it comes under a hate speech or malicious communications act, then it shouldn't be banned. It's less clever than some of the other ones, so I'm not keen on it. I quite like this one that's doing the rounds.

Yeah if I recall correctly there's a huge overlap between the Be Kind movement and the Kunt and the Gang fanbase.

partyatthepalace · 21/12/2020 09:22

Under what law wouldn’t you allow it? Which bit of right to free speech would you like to repeal?

The song is boring and stupid, but the whole point of a democracy is you have the right to be boring and stupid.

If you reduce the right to free speech in one silly area you also reduce it in huge and important areas.

Part of living in a democracy is living with people expressing themselves in ways you don’t like.

You have to think about the bigger picture OP

😀

Its quite the trope now isn’t it

saraclara · 21/12/2020 09:26

It can't be banned. That's not how this country works, or should work. But I think it's awful, and is yet another thing that's is influencing people, adults and children alike, into being intolerant bullies.

And I hate Johnson with every fibre of my being, btw.

nosswith · 21/12/2020 09:28

It should not be broadcast on radio, that's for certain.

Lacks imagination as well, even though Mr Johnson is a man whose life I only wish to see spared because I don't believe in the death penalty.

MedusasBadHairDay · 21/12/2020 09:28

It's not exactly a work of art, but I did find it quite good stress relief listening to it on Saturday.

Honestly, it's a fairly bog standard punk song. You might not like it, but you can't ban music just because you don't like it. You don't have to listen to it, and I don't imagine you'll have to try too hard to avoid it, it's hardly radio friendly, no ones going to be using it on TV, and it's never going to be the background music on a commercial. So unless you go and put it on yourself it should affect you at all.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 21/12/2020 09:31

Ds1 boyfriend played it to my dad over the weekend

Im sat there like this 😱😱😱😱

‘Right you can switch it off now!’

KrisAkabusi · 21/12/2020 09:52

What other things that you don't like
would you like to ban? And why do you over anyone else get to pick what's offensive?

liverbird10 · 21/12/2020 11:07

But he IS.

Nonamesavail · 21/12/2020 11:08

Its true also K and the Gang is actually a really nice guy!
