MILs massive Christmas bubble...

BigCrimboCorona · 19/12/2020 20:59

10 (at least)

Yep that's 10 households totalling 25 people! And we don't even know how many more considering the people in the 10 households also don't give a shit about the rules and will likely be meeting others.

Would have really liked to see MIL this Christmas and the kids were really excited to see her but her bubble is just too big :( she won't ever change either as she's been like this since the first lockdown, she doesn't really care about the rules at all and she's one of the most vulnerable with COPD and asthma 😣

AIBU to think there's many many more people like this who don't give a crap about the rules? Can't just be MIL breaking the rules in such an extreme way?

Well thats not a bubble is it. She just doesn,t care.

Echobelly · 19/12/2020 21:03

I expect at least some of those 10 households will be changing their minds now. At least I'd hope so.

BigCrimboCorona · 19/12/2020 21:04

@Echobelly unfortunately I doubt it... we were hoping to have a bubble with her and after finding out her plans we are pulling out but as for the rest they're all the same mentality

Yup, my in-laws are like this, and now my husband's 87yo grandfather has Covid.

ToniTheDonkey · 19/12/2020 21:12

What tier is she in? I know she can’t have that many people regardless of tier, but I was wondering if she’s stupid (Tier 1), really stupid (tier 2), extremely stupid (Tier 3) or OMG stupid (if in tier 4)

I'm wondering if it's the older generation?

Tier 2

Don’t see her. And tell her exactly why you don’t

She’s being incredibly stupid and selfish.

MrsRockAndRoll · 20/12/2020 11:55

Not a bubble that's a party. I would decline seeing her

SockDrawer · 20/12/2020 12:00

I think with Tier 1 & 2 you get more of a sense of ‘what’s all the fuss about’ from a lot of people.

It’s a shame you won’t be able to see her but that’s the choice she’s making.

ASadNamechange · 20/12/2020 12:25

A bubble is one lone person joining with one household isn't it?

ohwhatamiserableyear · 20/12/2020 12:30

I wouldn't have a problem with this if people who behaved like this agreed they wouldn't seek NHS treatment if they catch covid doing it.

But I imagine they don't agree to suffer at home in silence... which is why the rules are so important for all of us.

Nymeriastark1 · 20/12/2020 12:32

It's really a bubble then is it. That's just a normal Christmas Day for her. Calling it a bubble doesn't make it a bubble.

LadyEloise · 20/12/2020 12:34

She is a sellfish b* tch.
Sad

Leagueofgentlemenfan · 20/12/2020 13:25

If they're all going to be there at the same time report them as having a party

HedgieHog · 20/12/2020 13:30

And it’s people like her that mean the rest of us are penalised as do follow the rules.
I’m lucky the changes aren’t affecting me personally but seeing friends upset they can’t see family or friends who are working Christmas Day have the opportunity to get together with family on Boxing Day instead taken away when others don’t give a shit says a lot about this country. When did we become so selfish and entitled?

DietCokePolice · 20/12/2020 13:36

She doesn’t have a bubble she has a massive chain of potential infection.

It’s not a personal decision, behaviour like hers risk overwhelming the NHS and forces all of us to live under tighter restrictions.

friendlycat · 20/12/2020 13:41

She has a huge infection chain which will show very soon. I feel sorry for all key workers and nhs staff working their socks off whilst we have morons like this.

Frazzled2207 · 20/12/2020 13:44

That’s not a bubble that’s a party. Don’t go! And make it very clear why not. Not sure what else you can do. Horrendous.

TheTrashBagIsOursCmonTrashBag · 20/12/2020 13:45

She won’t be in tier 2 for long. Her and her guests and whoever they all mix with over Christmas and new year will be helping to push their area into a higher tier all because they are selfish idiots.

Bookworming · 20/12/2020 13:46

Madness!

catpoooffender · 20/12/2020 13:50

More blimp than bubble

custardbear · 20/12/2020 13:52

I wonder how many other people the25 will see when they leave her home

Ginfordinner · 20/12/2020 13:53

Yep that's 10 households totalling 25 people!

And I’ll bet that they will be the first to complain that the police should be catching real criminals. Well, they would if people like your MIL weren’t behaving so selfishly.

She doesn’t have a bubble she has a massive chain of potential infection

This venn diagram illustrates that very well.

I am no fan of Boris, nor do I vote Tory, and I think that they have handled the whole pandemic situation really badly, but I also think the onus of doing the right thing rests on us as well. And while we have people like your MIL who think that they are above the law we will never get out of this until we have masss vaccination.

MILs massive Christmas bubble...
WeatherwaxOn · 20/12/2020 13:53

None of the older people I know would act like this. The ' kicking back' attitudes' have seen seem to come from 35-55s of my acquaintance. Idiots.
