Can you mix households xmas day if you are tier 4? I say you can't partner says you can ? We're confused !

TerribleZebra · 19/12/2020 16:44

No - unless they are in your support bubble.

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2020 16:45

You can’t.
From the BBC...

For the rest of the country, the three household mixing limit has been cut from five days to just Christmas Day.
Those in tier four cannot mix indoors with anyone not from their household.

AngeloMysterioso · 19/12/2020 16:45

At Christmas, those living in T4 areas should not mix with anyone outside their own household, though support bubbles will remain in place for those at particular risk of loneliness or isolation

Purplebags11 · 19/12/2020 16:46

Support bubble is only for single people households isn't it ? Just getting it clear to show partner as he doesn't get it

OP posts:
BrumBoo · 19/12/2020 16:46

No. To be quite honest it sounds like the whole country shouldn't, unless absolutely necessary.

Yes, single parents or single people can form an exclusive bubble with one other household.
PostmanSplat · 19/12/2020 16:49

I missed a bit of the conference. Did he say anything about kids of separated parents?

CrochetOrBust · 19/12/2020 16:49

I wonder when they are actually going to publish something? The press conference waffling and second hand reporting is not helpful - we need details.

Akire · 19/12/2020 16:51

Even for single people he said “those at extra risk of loneliness” think trying say just because you are a single adult household you shouldn’t bubble
Up if you really don’t have too.

Parents of separated children have always been able to travel and mix to facilitate child contact, even in the first full lockdown.

No but I’d be amazed if there’s any change to the current rules relating to them. They’ve kept the support bubbles the same.
Pomelos · 19/12/2020 16:56

We will be in tier 4 and my single MIL from up north thinks she can still travel down and spend Christmas with us as she is on her own and we are her bubble 🤷‍♀️

Sparklesocks · 19/12/2020 16:59

No you can’t mix in tier 4 unless in an existing bubble, or travel out of it, and nobody can travel in either.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 19/12/2020 17:01

The press conference was very clear, unless of course you choose not to understand it.

CherryPavlova · 19/12/2020 17:02

full restrictions and designated areas not up yet,

timeforanewstart · 19/12/2020 17:07

Do they really think many will take notice now , so he can say that its peoples fault for not listening i reckon
He was asked 3 days ago to amend maybe go to 3 days / 2 households .

Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 17:08

What about students coming back from uni? Can they still come home or do they have to stay put?

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2020 17:08

Aren’t they pretty much all home by now?
Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 17:10

No, one of mine isn't ... Can he still travel back? I can't find anything about it in the guidance

LakieLady · 19/12/2020 17:12

And, as usual, he ignored the advice/suggestion and ended up having to impose something far more draconian later.

Although the time interval between the refusal to act and the about-face has shortened from 10-14 days to 3 days, so I suppose that's a bit of an improvement.

He really is the most useless PM of my lifetime, and I can remember as far back as Harold Macmillan.

gingercat02 · 19/12/2020 17:13

Students were meant to be Covid tested and home by 9 December. We had to ensure ours travelled home from placement between 3rd and 9th after they had a negative test

gingercat02 · 19/12/2020 17:14

@Grendalsmum not after midnight tonight

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2020 17:15

Boris is useless. Utterly awful. He is the worst prime minister in living memory,

Please, please, please don’t let that stop you from following the rules. This is a massive public health problem. One respected scientist is calling this the worst moment of the pandemic. This is a serious danger point.

Heyahun · 19/12/2020 17:19

No mixing with any other households if you are in tier 4!! You can’t travel out of the tier

Stop looking for ways around it just stay home !
