Can you mix households xmas day if you are tier 4? I say you can't partner says you can ? We're confused !

OP posts:
Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 17:19

Fuck - better get him on the train then. His term didn't finish til Friday ( practical subject ) and as l've been isolating he was waiting until my 10 days were up before coming back

timeforanewstart · 19/12/2020 17:22

Yet borders remain open !!

IntermittentParps · 19/12/2020 17:24

Yet borders remain open !!
Yes, It's a nonsense.

1992serpent · 19/12/2020 17:24

I'm so glad I actually travelled to my mums today. Staying here foe 2 weeks so I'm sure I'm not breaking any rules.

IntermittentParps · 19/12/2020 17:26

This is what is so senseless about it. People in 1992serpent's position (I'm not criticising you BTW; I'm glad you've 'escaped'!) have made it to wherever they're spending Christmas; people like me and DP, who are booked to travel on Monday (to a holiday rental, on our own) will be breaking the law if we go ahead. If we'd booked to go yesterday, which we did initially look at, we'd be on the right side of the law. Confused Hmm

catbunnydog · 19/12/2020 17:31

God tier fucking four. I’ve been following the rules all year and this year we weren’t seeing anyone this Xmas apart from my brother, and now we can’t even fucking do that.

Fucking fuck this fucking shit I am so so so sick of it all!! I have friends in Australia and Singapore living life as normal and it just feels like we’ll be in lockdown...forever really.

The government doesn’t even have numbers of how many ppl have received vaccinations. Just fuck this all. I hate it so much.

Chloemol · 19/12/2020 17:36

No

sluj · 19/12/2020 17:36

Grendalsmum, we are in the same boat with DS, he has been on a student health care placement till Friday and only just got his clear Covid result so free to travel. He was due back on a train tomorrow and hopes he will be ok to travel into our tier 4 area as he is a single adult so ought to be able to bubble up with us. I hope he is right.

17bluebirds · 19/12/2020 17:39

Can people in tier 4 travel to tier 3 for work? I'm assuming so, but not actually seen it written anywhere

17bluebirds · 19/12/2020 17:40

Or tier 2

DrManhattan · 19/12/2020 17:44

Everyone is just gonna do what they want, so do that.

Miamarshmallows · 19/12/2020 17:45

It's not a stupid question OP. We were also confused.
I thought it was being lifted for one day even in tier 4.

Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 17:46

sluj I just checked the local govt website and they "advise against" travel into tier 4 rather than forbid it so he could come back, but then he'd be stuck until the it's-not-a-lockdown-really-honest! ended ... lt's all such a total fuck up.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 19/12/2020 17:50

@Grendalsmum travel for educational purposes is always listed in the legislation as an exception to all the rules so he shouldn’t get stuck

Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 17:55

Jellybabiessavelives That's a real relief! Thanks, l must have missed that bit - he's had a rotten first term, quarentine then he broke his arm! It'll be good to have him home for a bit Smile

sluj · 19/12/2020 17:56

I hope this is right but my DS wouldn't be travelling for education purposes, he would be coming home, if you get the distinction.
It would be grossly unfair on the students who were exempt from coming home in the designated period. They set out the exemptions and my sons group were in it and classed as essential workers.
I wonder if they will stop trains coming into tier 4?

Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 19:06

They still want people who can't work from home to go in so l don't see how they can cancel the trains ...
