To be royally p*ssed off at Hermes?

Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 13:47

Email to say package would be delivered Saturday (12th). Window came and went.. email to say it had been delayed and I would be contacted Monday.
Nothing until 1pm today to say it was out for delivery..
Well, it has just arrived, soaking wet and WIDE OPEN. The delivery guy ran back to his car with his chin to his chest and sped off!

There is just under £200 worth of perfume in this order (Christmas).. It's in there and is magically undamaged.. I'm worrying it maybe even could've been replaced with fakes?

Does anyone know a number I can call to get through to an actual human at Hermes? Or what I am best doing? Furious is an understatement Angry

I'm having issues with Hermes and I cannot for love nor money get hold of a person to speak to. It's driving me to distraction. If you do manage to do this please update the thread!

womaninatightspot · 16/12/2020 13:51

Contact the company you bought the goods from not Hermes you'll never get anywhere with them.

Aprilx · 16/12/2020 13:51

Your contract was with your seller. They were responsible to make sure that your package arrived intact and they did this via their contract with Hermes. You contact your seller, let them contact Hermes. (You will never get through to Hermes yourself, they are impossible to contact as the end buyer).

Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 13:52

It's from Debenhams @womaninatightspot and they aren't currently taking calls - only emails Sad

You're best checking that the goods are OK and getting on with your day.

The idea that the courier has replaced your perfume with identical fakes is ridiculous. From the photo it looks like something has leant on the damp box and that's why it has come undone.

Lockheart · 16/12/2020 13:52

So you've got your perfume that you ordered, undamaged although a bit late?

A tad dramatic OP.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 16/12/2020 13:54

I have given up with this lot. I ordered delivery for a specific date - and it rocked up two days later, left in the doorstep (apparently signed for). I complained. ‘Cos Covid’ was the reply (and the helpful suggestion to use someone else if I wasn’t happy).

I have had 2 deliveries made by them (so not my choice). Both times I mysteriously wasn’t in on first attempt (Yes I flipping well was) including one at midnight! No cards left.

Parcels eventually arrived, left in the hallway (next to the sign that says ‘don’t leave things here as they might get nicked’), apparently I wasn’t in (Oh yes I was!).

I have been waiting for almost a month for them to collect a return parcel (damages good) - it was supposedly 2-3 days for them to collect it! The company using them says they are understaffed because of ... Covid.

I won’t use them again!

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 16/12/2020 13:57

And their tracking is unreliable. My neighbour was going mad because her tracking said something had been delivered, then it said it hadn’t. Then it said it had been and she had signed for it. It eventually was just left in the hall and she for an email the next day with a photo of a pile of parcels on the reception desk (so she had no idea which was hers as they had all been ‘put in a safe place’ by the porter who then went away for two days).

MynephewR · 16/12/2020 13:59

I received a package like this a few weeks ago. Cardboard box that was soaked through and open at one end. Luckily it was all clothes sealed in bags so everything was fine and it was all there. Delivery lady apologised and looked embarrassed but we know each other well by now (I do way too much online shopping Grin) and I told her not to worry. As long as everything is there and nothing is damaged then I'd just let it go.

HermosaMain · 16/12/2020 13:59

Logically, the idea that someone at hermes was opening parcels and replacing with fake perfume is ridiculous. They'd have to open hundreds of parcels to find some with perfume, and then they'd have to have the right fake. Unless you're suggesting they somehow just stole the liquid, but they'd have to replace and reseal without any damage.

MillieVanilla · 16/12/2020 14:01

The only way I've ever gotten hold of them is via Twitter. But I've got about 6000+ followers as I've seen many people at them and get no real response.
I would recommend tweeting or Facebook messaging Debenhams instead. I doubt though that they've replaced the bottles with fakes that would take some planning since markets where you get the fakes from are cancelled at the minute.

I would imagine he ran to his car because they are give tiny windows to deliver before they aren't paid. There is a huge online shopping backlog because people are ordering online rather than hitting the high street. I knew it was coming so did mine online in late October.

Snaketime · 16/12/2020 14:02

I ordered some crafters supplies for my DC to do for christmas from the works, I ordered the stuff in October got to half way through Novemeber still hadn't arrived, checked tracking which said my parcel was delayed at Hermes and would be with me withington 24 hours it had been there a month at this point. Tried to contact Hemres no luck, so contacted the works. The response I got was that it had been lost in transit and I got my money back, but according to the tracking it never made it to transit only to Hermes warehouse. Angry

Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 14:03

Ah, I've had it many a time where I've 'not been in' @ThatIsNotMyUsername .. I hate them..

I completely agree that the idea of them being tampered with is me being dramatic.. but it was 4 days late and the driver ran off with his tail between his legs before I'd even had chance to pick the thing up.

This is more of a last straw for me with this damn courier..

If it has just busted open due to pressure the pull tab would still be attached at one side.

Someone's ripped it off - I highly doubt her items have been replaced but I would bet my house that someone's opened that box.

Nowaynothappening · 16/12/2020 14:05

It’s undamaged so I’d personally thank my lucky stars and leave it. You won’t get anywhere with either Hermes or Debenhams right now.

happymummy12345 · 16/12/2020 14:05

At least your parcel arrived. I had one that never ever turned up.

Hayeahnobut · 16/12/2020 14:06

What do you want them to do now?

Meepmeeep · 16/12/2020 14:07

Of course they’ve managed to source fake perfume the same as what you’ve ordered and swap the bottles over. Folk on here get more ridiculous by the day.

Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 14:07

Maybe someone is opening boxes hoping to find something in particular then @Hwory ! I'm convinced it has been opened and I'm generally laid back about these things..

I've just never had a good experience with Hermes!

OP posts:
Lockheart · 16/12/2020 14:07

If a signature isn't required then he wouldn't hang around to wait for you to pick it up. That's not just Hermes, that's all couriers.

I'm no fan of Hermes and I'm not saying that this is best practice, but you seem to be looking for things to be angry at.

The delay is annoying, but all postal services and couriers are incredibly busy right now and experiencing delays as a result.

Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 14:09

It's not so much the delay as it is the ripped open package @Lockheart..

I sent on parcel on the 30th November. It currently says this...

To be royally p*ssed off at Hermes?
Olivetree615 · 16/12/2020 14:15

@LivingMyBestLife2020 It's just s frustrating that there is no way to get through to someone (a human!) that can help or advise isn't it Sad

Indeed. Sounds a bit annoying and nothing more.

YABU for being so coy about a word as innocuous as pissed and adding an asterisk.

choppitychopchop · 16/12/2020 14:27

What I don't understand is all the threads like this with so much hate for Hermes (& yodel etc) but then seeing all the posts being shared about how we should be "understanding" to Royal Mail because they're doing the best they can even though their service is absolutely shocking at the min. Also your issue is with Debenhams not Hermes so there's no point trying to contact Hermes (which is pretty much impossible I think anyway).
