Feeling paranoid-is this what he watches?

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 00:50

Used my mobile in the house to see Pornhub, just out of interest really as I’m never in the mood since Dd came along.
I noticed it said ‘Recommended for you’ with a load of videos. I’ve been back on it a few times and is always the same type of videos, not something I’d watch, not really terrible but also I don’t like it. This is my phone but obviously we have the home WiFi set up.
Are these random recommendations it gives you? Or has it picked up on things my dp has watched on his phone? Is it able to do that?
Probably being a bit paranoid! Just curious why it always shows similar ‘Topics’ 🙄

No one?

I dont think what he searches for on his device has any impact on what's recommended on your device.

KilljoysDutch · 16/12/2020 01:24

It's just a random selection, lots of websites do it.

NoShitHemlock · 16/12/2020 01:26

Pornhub have apparently deleted many thousands of videos recently so I would imagine that it will have done something to their algorithm that shows your recommendations.

Titsinknicks · 16/12/2020 01:27

It's either a random selection or based on what people 'like you' 'enjoy'. Your phone knows you're a woman, in a relationship, aged 43, searching 'idris elber images' and googling 'fanny cream'. Or whatever. Your phone probably knows more about you than your partner.

Guineapigbridge · 16/12/2020 01:47

Up until Nicholas Kristof's NY Times revelations about three days ago Pornhub was FULL of dodgy, unauthorised rape/coercion/underage videos. Unacceptable. It should be shut down completely.

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 08:11

It’s definitely not things I’d imagine a woman would be interested in and is quite specific but the same each time? If it was random, wouldn’t they mix it up a bit?
I’m wondering if you works from the shared home internet, is the IP address there?

OP posts:
Justthoughts · 16/12/2020 08:16

No, that sort of thing will most likely be based on the cookies on your phone.

Oopsiedaisyy · 16/12/2020 08:18

I get random things suggested, often probably from porn producers trying to get views for their channels or something. I ignore them

Bluntness100 · 16/12/2020 08:20

No, this is just random. It’s nothing to do with him. Don’t you use Spotify or anything, where they are just promoting something and put it as recommended for you?

Hayeahnobut · 16/12/2020 08:24

It’s definitely not things I’d imagine a woman would be interested in

Women's tastes are as varied as those of men.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 16/12/2020 08:41

I dont know OP quite often when my husband is researching buying something then it comes up as adverts on my phone so it obviously links us somehow. That might be for sites where we're both using the same address though so not sure if it would work for a site like pornhub where you dont need to put in any detsils

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 08:55

@Hayeahnobut No I know that, just it would seem to appeal to a man.

Just curious why it’s always very similar.

@Bluntness100 Yeah I know what you mean, I don’t have Spotify, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t always suggest the same genre each time? Wouldn’t it mix it up a bit?

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 08:56

I’m tempted to try the home computer too and see if the same sort of recommended for you would come up 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
FPS123 · 16/12/2020 08:58

Have you clicked on one, ever? Because then it will recommend more of the same. Like PP said, it’s based on your cookies.

Twiddlet · 16/12/2020 08:58

Test it - search for and watch 5 very specifically themed clips of something you don’t think you’ve looked at before. Then see if the recommendations change. If you’re uncomfortable with something that’s come up do you feel able to ask him about it?

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 08:58

@Titsinknicks If it’s doing it based on that, I’m quite surprised what’s coming up is for my target audience 🙈

Danni91 · 16/12/2020 09:01

Why's it worrying you? Will you tell us roughly the genre?

I agree with multiple posters in a) it is probably your phone or totally sproadic
B) you will be suprised what women like too

Is this relationship changing too you?

And also, surely hes using incognito mode? So im not sure the history would stay there.

Not a porn person so i couldn't tell you for sure!

Suckmyfatone · 16/12/2020 09:03

Pornhub has had to delete 75% of its content (10 million video's) as the video's uploaded show possible child abuse and unconscious women being raped.

edition.cnn.com/2020/12/15/business/pornhub-videos-removed/index.html

Enjoy your wank, won't you OP

contrmary · 16/12/2020 09:05

The best way to fix the recommendations is to actually view the videos you are interested in, they should then update.

bonjonbovi · 16/12/2020 09:06

Are you using an in-private or incognito mode?

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 09:07

@Danni91 It’s not massively worrying but I do find it weird. It seems to come up sometimes with what I’d class as more ‘Normal’ stuff that I know he probably would watch-eg big boobs-not written like that obviously! So it makes me wonder if the things there are things searched for in this home if we share the wifi, isn’t that the ip? They’re not things I look at but keep coming up time and again? Unless these are the top recommended/searched for things for most people?
It’s all a bit weird-step sister/brother, step mum 🤷🏻‍♀️I don’t feel comfortable with that.
Can anyone do a test for me and search and see if it comes up on theirs and is a popular genre 😂

Coseynightin · 16/12/2020 09:07

As good as the intentions of the NY Times article is all this will do is drive them videos to the dark web where there is already more sinister videos groups etc

Worriednow77 · 16/12/2020 09:09

@Suckmyfatone I don’t actually use it, I have looked to try to revive my non existent sec drive after having a child, but it makes me feel cringe and down looking at it. I’m trying to see if my dp looks at specific things, but thanks for making me feel crap and more embarrassed about a subject I was already embarrassed about broaching.
