I've bought a ticket for tonight's lottery and will most likely win it. When I told DS1 he informef me that he intends to use my winnings to buy a castle in the German Alps and decorate it with portraits of himself in historical garb.

Now I have no problem with the portraits (I have a local artist in mind who is really excellent), but there is no way I want a castle in the German Alps. For a start it's not exactly convenient for school /the rest of our family and we don't know anyone who lives there.

I don't think it's practical but DS says I'm just being mean, AIBU?

Could he not live on his own with a governess?

Read him some of the recent "inheritance threads", with particular emphasis on the parts that say a parent's money is all their own, and a child should never expect to receive any of it (and should be thoroughly ashamed of even considering that they might receive anything).

TBH I'm not keen on getting a castle at all @Squirrel26. I like the 2bed house we're in now but with DS2 getting bigger we're going to need a 3rd bedroom soon (he still sleeps with me). I was thinking of getting a loft conversion and an extension as I'd like a bigger kitchen and a utility room.

I like the idea of a strict governess @Cocolapew, can you recommendan agency? As fond of him as I am he's a bit lazy and teenagery at the moment. I'd want a proper harsh frau for this, not one of those Julie Andrews types.
