Judge Judy - what's her secret?

Cheeseandlobster · 10/12/2020 09:30

Following from the Tess Daley thread. I have always thought Judge Judy must be a bot. She doesnt seem to age past a certain point. What is her secret or am I right?

Surely some botox

Justcallmebebes · 10/12/2020 09:38

Botox and being paid $24m per season. She has the money to look that good

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 09:39

£££

LucyLocketsPocket · 10/12/2020 09:39

She's definitely had a face lift!

Cheeseandlobster · 10/12/2020 09:52

$24m? To be exceedingly shouty, and rude in some cases and to be very judgy in unmarried mothers in others? I guess I have my answer. $24m Shock

Apparently she's the highest paid person on US telly. Quite why, I've no idea. Officer Bird is also a millionaire due to the tv show. I obviously have waaay too much time on my hands!

Deadringer · 10/12/2020 09:59

She has had facial surgery, but she is very spritely and sharp as a tack, money can't buy that.

Cheeseandlobster · 10/12/2020 10:03

Dp loves it. Ne not so much. But I do like Officer Byrd and the story as to how he ended up on the show

OP posts:
FlatulentSproutEater · 10/12/2020 10:04

I love Byrd too. Don't know the story though - how did he end up there?

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 10:05

Officer Bird is also a millionaire due to the tv show.

Easiest money ever made! Grin I’d love his job.

Mrsjayy · 10/12/2020 10:08

24 million i did read she was the richest American TV personality but my god that has to put a spring in your step and a glow to your cheeks Grin please a nip tuck and face lift obviously.

Cheeseandlobster · 10/12/2020 10:11

Apparently he used to work with Judge Judy as a baliff but obtained his law degree later. When he heard about the show he sent her a congratulations card saying if she needed a baliff his uniform still fit. Judge Judy felt there was no chemistry with the actor they were going to use so Byrd it was

Mrsjayy · 10/12/2020 10:12

Plus* I only see repeats on random channels where shown recent series. Officer Byrd was judge Judy's real court officer when she was a working judge and she wanted him with her for her show.

Floralnomad · 10/12/2020 10:13

Byrd used to work with her when she was a proper judge and when she got the show he wrote to congratulate her and she invited him along .

GroundAlmonds · 10/12/2020 10:22

Seriously? Anyone who looks much, much younger than their age and retains a taut complexion long past menopause has had Botox/fillers/surgery. You can bet the farm on it, with even more total certainty if they’re wealthy.

Why do people ask “What is X’s secret?!” Are you honestly expecting the answer to be “a good rub down with vaseline and a clementine every Sunday”? Confused

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 10:26

Tbh though, I don’t think she does look much younger than 78 (her age). Her hair isn’t grey, that’s about it. Otherwise I think she looks like a slightly altered 78 year old.

She is just a shouty at deadbeat dads who dont pay their way. She doesnt stand nonsense from those who wont take responsibility for themselve

There is a youtube documentary made when she is in family court, its fascinating

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 10:34

I’ve seen her go in on a woman who hired a babysitter so she could work and there was a dispute over the pay. The woman was a single mother and Judge Judy yelled “look after your own kids- they’re your responsibility” (not advice she followed herself!) Then in the next episode she was yelling at a woman for being a SAHM telling her she should go to work and use day care like everyone else. Hmm

She does get it wrong quite a lot.

lljkk · 10/12/2020 10:35

JJ cultured an 'older' look at a relatively young age (to give herself authority) & now she probably cultures a younger look than she would look otherwise. Adjustments of hair dye mostly, with botox in recent years.

Think of people like Steve Martin & Jon Snow. Going white-haired early completely made guessing their age quite confusing. DH has an aunt who looked same at 52 as she does at 75. Mostly because she allowed herself to have natural white hair at 52. Looked great at both ages, mind.

I always think her hands and nails look very nice. You can't really hide old hands .

And to think people do this for free on Mumsnet.
mumwon · 10/12/2020 11:15

@3orangekissesfromkazan
the reason her hands are nice is because
she probably has never done housework (or wore marigolds former more likely)
& she has regular manicures & hand care

& no exposure to sun

CrotchBurn · 10/12/2020 11:20

The skincare is real....
The hairstyle is real....
The consensus is final:

THIS is her secret. THIS is judge judith sheindlin!
