Or having a stick pusher up their nose, right as I'm having dinner

I'm a total wuss and hate needles, I can't look at a jag. I had the flu jag and will have this vaccine asap, but bloody hello I can't stand watching others get jagged or poked about. I had a covid test too, its not as bad as watching it.

I know I'm being unreasonable, the vaccine is brilliant, but please don't show me it..

I'll be keeping the telly off....

Why are you having dinner at 1 in the afternoon?
Why do you have your TV on while you are eating?

OMG I could have written this post! I don't know why I have such an irrational fear of injections, but just thinking about it makes me queasy. That said I also feel that the speed that it's been developed is amazing and I will have it. DH on the other hand us a paramedic and would not think twice about jabbing himself

MrsKJones · 08/12/2020 13:13

YABU to call it a jaG - it is a jaB

And as PP suggested, turn TV off whilst you're having food

Simplyunacceptable · 08/12/2020 13:15

Why are you watching TV while you eat?

bellinisurge · 08/12/2020 13:15

Dinner is what we northerners call our mid day meal.
Otherwise, op, switch it off. I get jabs every month and is literally no big deal fir me. But I know it is for other people.
And this is a big deal.

It's a jag in Glasgow!
RJnomore1 · 08/12/2020 13:16

We call it a jag in scotland. Not a jab.

Brighterthansunflowers · 08/12/2020 13:18

Well just watch something different!

You will now be shouted at for 10 pages by people who can’t grasp that for large parts of the country dinner is in the middle of the day

MatildaTheCat · 08/12/2020 13:21

When I went for my flu jab recently the man in front of me was horrified to learn it was an injection. I know young kids get a nasal spray but surely most adults know that vaccines are delivered via a needle?

YABU, just don’t watch. Millions will be watching and celebrating.

MrsKJones · 08/12/2020 13:22

@Aquicknamechange2019 @RJnomore1
A Jag is slang for a type of car (Jaguar). Jab is slang for injection, cos you jab it in the arm.

Mauhea · 08/12/2020 13:22

Scrolling through facebook is a 'mare too - loads of articles on my news feed with stock images of whopping great long needles. I wish if they did show sharps they'd pick images of dinky little syringes so the needle averse (me!) aren't put off by the mental image of the nurse galloping towards you with a great long javelin Grin

AChickenCalledDaal · 08/12/2020 13:24

Definitely a jag where I grew up. And lots of people have dinner at 1pm. Because we are not all the same and language varies.

Do feel free switch the TV off, though!

No in Scotland a jag is the same as a jab.

Some people call it a jag. It's a regional thing.

AChickenCalledDaal · 08/12/2020 13:25

Jag is slang for injection (in some areas), cos it feels all jaggy and sharp.

Xmas Wink

Dinner is lunch in the north.

peppita · 08/12/2020 13:25

@Simplyunacceptable

Why are you watching TV while you eat?

Snob.

fungussingstheblues · 08/12/2020 13:25

A nettle is jaggy. A thistle is jaggy. Short for jagged, I guess.

It's a jag up here.

Just don't call it a "shot".

LarsErickssong · 08/12/2020 13:26

I call it a jab but dinner is definitely the meal you eat in the middle of the day Smile

purplechairandcat · 08/12/2020 13:28

It's definetely a jag and you eat pieces in the middle of the day Grin

Svelteinmydreams · 08/12/2020 13:29

Yeah, I am in Scotland and it’s a JAB where I live. Reporting Weegie is doing’ ma heid in.

purplechairandcat · 08/12/2020 13:30

I agree though OP. Can't stand watching needles or having jags. I'll definitely get the vaccine but I'm not looking forward to it Envy

Burnthurst187 · 08/12/2020 13:31

In England a Jag is a car, change the channel

LaMarschallin · 08/12/2020 13:35

Not at all unreasonable.

All the television companies will now stop showing injections - especially around any possible meal times* - just to suit you.
Because you are just that precious.

Job done.

*All the time, it seems. Who knows when "dinner", "supper", "tea" etc are for various random people.

Mrsjayy · 08/12/2020 13:36

Op you have been well And truly ,telt told off . today Grin I would keep the news off. Till tomorrow sit at the table and listen to radio 4 whilst you eat much more civilizedWink
