Aaarrggghhh....I hate seeing people being vaccinated

Or having a stick pusher up their nose, right as I'm having dinner

I'm a total wuss and hate needles, I can't look at a jag. I had the flu jag and will have this vaccine asap, but bloody hello I can't stand watching others get jagged or poked about. I had a covid test too, its not as bad as watching it.

I know I'm being unreasonable, the vaccine is brilliant, but please don't show me it..

I'll be keeping the telly off....

Wow, this thread is full of cunts

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/12/2020 17:44

I don't understand why injections need to be shown.....everybody knows what they are right? Why the need for visual references?

ViciousJackdaw · 08/12/2020 17:53

@ZoeTurtle

Wow, this thread is full of cunts
Indeed it is. Cunts who will have heard of 'school dinners'. May their own dinners be undercooked.
FoxyTheFox · 08/12/2020 17:55

@ssd you mentioned jag and dinner on MN where the South East of England is the only relevant part of the UK, its like you want to watch the world burn.

Wow, this thread is full of cunts

Ain't it, though?

For the love of God, don't mention Santa, Halloween, or mom.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 08/12/2020 17:56

@SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel

2 points: Why are you having dinner at 1 in the afternoon? Why do you have your TV on while you are eating?

Xmas Wink

I am not entirely sure, but I think she might be (lowers voice to a whisper) from The Far North. (shudders slightly and adjusts pearls)
wanderings · 08/12/2020 17:59

I know what you mean, the BBC is one of the worst offenders for this. I’m not as needle phobic as I used to be; back then I would have gone mad that you just couldn’t escape needles being MENTIONED every five seconds.

Have Saint Boris and Uncle Matty had theirs yet?

FoxyTheFox · 08/12/2020 18:01

The Hancock-Robot resorted to crying on TV today to prove that he's a real boy.

Macncheeseballs · 08/12/2020 18:03

Off button is useful

CatRamsey · 08/12/2020 18:05

Some people say jab. Some people say jag.

Some people say dinner. Some people say tea.

Some people watch TV while they're eating, some people don't.

Sorry to miss the point of your thread OP but people assuming everyone else is wrong just because they do things differently really winds me up!

SatsumaFan · 08/12/2020 18:13

This thread could not be more Mumsnet if it tried Grin

SueEllenMishke · 08/12/2020 18:16

@Tippexy

Some people say 'dinner' when they mean 'lunch' - it tells you a lot about them Wink
Yes, it tells you they're Northern.

I just knew this thread would turn into pages of people pretending they don't realise that regional variations in language exist. 🙄

ssd · 08/12/2020 18:25

Where's Stanley Baxter when you need him Grin

Parliano Glasgow anyone ?!?

I thought I'd get pelted for being a wuss, not for having ma dinner oan ma knee Grin

@ssd I love everything about this thread and the drama it has created, thank you! And your final comment just now was the cherry on top. Enjoy your tea 😉

Hotelhelp · 08/12/2020 18:37

Errrr it’s jag in Scotland. People need to remember not everyone on MN is in England.

We’d be looked at like we had horns if we said jab here.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 08/12/2020 18:39

SSD If I have understood your broad northern dialect correctly you are now admitting to eating your "dinner" on your knee?! Xmas Shock What an outrage! That kind of behaviour is simply unknown to us southerners Wink

Perhaps you should invest in a table as well as a radio?

Gosh, my pearls are clutched even tighter now

Passmeabottlemrjones · 08/12/2020 18:47

I don't understand why injections need to be shown.....everybody knows what they are right? Why the need for visual references?

Well, presumably because that particular injection (or 'jag'?!) today was pretty historic and it wouldn't have had quite the same effect if they had just been outside the room and said 'aaaaaand it's done, and Margaret was a very brave girl'.

Also, what's the problem really? It's a tiny thin needle going into an arm for a few seconds, who cares?

AlwaysLatte · 08/12/2020 18:51

Haha jag!
TV dinners are fraught with danger if you try to watch the news while you eat.
Needles don't bother me, watching it having them, but I don't like watching the nose swab!

Riapia · 08/12/2020 18:56

British snobbery and elitism is alive and well.
Nowhere is it more in evidence than on MN.

AlwaysLatte · 08/12/2020 18:57

Why are you having dinner at 1 in the afternoon?
🙄 it's a regional thing, surely you know that. We call it lunch and supper (dinner if it's a bigger evening meal or special occasion). But that would be considered odd elsewhere. It's all OK!

FoxyTheFox · 08/12/2020 19:19

Breakfast, dinner, and tea here. Supper is a snack you have in the evening if you get hungry somewhere between teatime and bedtime.

Meepmeeep · 08/12/2020 19:28

@DianaT1969

Do you have remote controls in Scotland? They might be called something else there. Small plastic devices that change a TV channel. 😁
We have moken trolls.
WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 08/12/2020 19:29

@ssd.

It's a good job you've been here years, the replies might have upset you otherwise - at least you knew in advance there'd be a bunch of pointless/horrible replies these days.

I'd take a job/jag to rewind MN 10-15 years!!!

Back to your OP... seeing the injections doesn't bother me, but the swabs being done do, I've spent a lot of the past few months almost throwing up!!

Yet in real life I'm much better! The things on screen affect me much more. Weird huh! 🤷🏻‍♀️

plinkplinkfizzer · 08/12/2020 20:05

The English telling the Scots what language to use for centuries . Brilliant . Wales tomorrow .

Mrsjayy · 08/12/2020 20:55

@ssd Aww Stanley Baxter came out recently he is 94 Shock not that he was ever "in"

ssd · 08/12/2020 21:18

Did he, god love him !

I'm not at all bothered about any of the arsey replies here, its water off a ducks back.
I have to watch myself these days on mn, I'm on the naughty step as I've been too cheeky myself in the past so I'm reigning in my sharp tongue.

Anyhoo, I've managed to avoid most of the news tonight with all the jags going on, wee fearty that I am Blush
