YABU. I get you don't like the bag, (it's not to my taste either) but given that it was presumably given with good intentions as a gift, could you not just discretely sell it? If I was your sister I'd be really upset not only that you didn't like the gift, but that you've posted about how much you hate the gift on the internet.

Give it to a charity shop. Someone will want it.

It’s a bit Betty Boop. And rather fugly. However the fashion is going very strange atm and rather 80’s. Lots of joggers, lounge wear and oversized jackets with shoulder pads / puffers.

My sister gave me a ghastly handbag one Christmas. I hid it in the bottom of the wardrobe for a few years before getting rid of it.

I actually quite like it. Mind you I'm a fiend for polka dots. The only reason why I wouldn't use on a personal level is that it wouldn't really match with anything I've got.
