@FoxyTheFox

My 6yo can dismantle a chest of drawers with an electric screwdriver and not with my blessing

In the song "This little piggie...", the piggie that went to market was not going shopping.

Ermygerd!!! I had not thought about this. Confused

OwlBeThere · 05/12/2020 21:49

@YesPleaseMary because it’s the one connected to the bladder 😂😂😂😂

@Eckhart I had a hysterectomy and they left my ovaries in, some years later I had some stomach issues and they sent me for a scan and well, let’s just say ovaries that are not connected to anything don’t stay put, one was right down in my pelvis, the other somewhere higher up but ON THE SAME SIDE!
They also told me that day that even thoughit wasn’t likely it was ‘theoretically’ possible for an egg from those ovaries to be fertilised and start developing. Confused I sent my then husband off to get the snip three weeks later I was so freaked out! I’m still not sure if he was serious!

I think the peppers thing is right. I discovered that on a similar thread to this a few years ago it is right. I was watching something on TV a couple of years ago and laughed when they said it. Until DS pointed out they were correct, and Google backed him up.

I used to hate singing Lord of the Dance at school as I thought it said."I'll eat you all wherever you may be
DS thought it was "I am the Lord of the dark settee" Grin. It took me ages to work out what song he wanted! His favourite song for a while was Living on a Prayer, which he sang along to as "take my hand and maybe I'll swear..."

Other DS used to sing "stand in the river. Your money or your life". Grin

Remember first time singing from the hymn book in school assembly. Underneath the verse it said 'chorus' so I sang the word 'chorus'

MissTemple · 05/12/2020 21:50

As far as I’m concerned there are well hot knights riding around in white satin, I do it know how long it’s going to be before they reach the end but they’re going to look pretty damn good while they’re getting there.

Ellmau · 05/12/2020 21:51

I’d never heard of the Twin Towers before 9/11 but apparently they were iconic.

LucyCC · 05/12/2020 21:51

I thought Washington D.C was in Washington state until about 2 years ago Xmas Confused

@CardoMondo

“Two? Late bloomer, I plan for mine to gain an Open University degree from the womb.”

Open university? Ha, my fetus has a doctorate. Honestly you really need to raise the bar.

@LucyCC I didn't know they were separate places till around the time of the American election last month Blush

I didnt know about the kidney thing. That is just gross

My brother and I were bollocked at a wedding for singing it as "I am the Lord of the downstairs loo". He knew they weren't the real words... I did not. That little shit got me into so much trouble!
alexdgr8 · 05/12/2020 21:54

@Henio

I've been spelling whisky wrong my entire life up until a few days ago
i've been told by someone in the know that only scotch is whisky. any other origin, eg irish, american, is whiskey. only scotch is allowed to spell it whisky. so you were not incorrect. ////////////////////// also i think the saying is, you've got another thing coming.

Neither had I. I didnt know what the world trade centre was or why it was important. Actually I'm still not sure Shock Apparently everyone knows where they were when 9/11 happened. I don't have the faintest idea!

I can however tell you almost everything I did the day Princess Diana died.

MrsChicken89 · 05/12/2020 21:57

I always said 'play it by year' as in give it time and see how it goes. Until someone laughed at me. Blush

LubaLuca · 05/12/2020 21:57

@Hurryupbaby11

My film knowledge isn't great so I was well into adulthood before I realised Harrison Ford was one man and not a famous duo called Harris and Ford (presumed it was just like Ant and Dec or Simon and Garfunkel.) Blush
On that note, my mum thought Ant and Dec was one person, Anton Deck.

That you are supposed to wash rice before you cook it...it has trace amounts of arsenic on it!

202020no · 05/12/2020 22:04

I'm a whizz on African geography (been to Mauritania and Timbuktu) BUT always thought it was Knights in White Satin- mindblowing....

Back in the 90’s my mum thought the England football song was “three lines on a shirt”, her reasoning being she thought they were sponsored by Adidas 😂😂

alexdgr8 · 05/12/2020 22:08

@Imicola

It blew my mind when I saw a field of pineapples growing, I assumed they grew on trees. Also, peanut plants. Weird.
pineapples grow in the ground ! what, like potatoes ? why are they called pine-apples then, since the don't grow on trees, even pine trees. what a swizz. actually i had never though about it. but am surprised. i knew about the peanuts, having heard of the ground nut scandal in east africa. and they are peanuts. the idea of scandalous nuts, ground or up a tree, seemed faintly ridiculous.
AddictedToCrisps · 05/12/2020 22:08

My dad rarely wears his hearing aids but many years ago we invited him to church to hear our banns being read. At the point in the service where you shake hands with each other saying “Peace be with you”, he walked around shaking hands, responding to everyone with “Pleased to meet you”. He thought everyone was very welcoming to him!!

AWaspOnAWindowReturns · 05/12/2020 22:09

@Judashascomeintosomemoney

My one is, I genuinely always thought the song was Knights in white satin. It never occurred to me that satin would be really crap armour. Nights makes so much more sense. 🙄
No way 😳 I always thought it was Knights until just now. You're right. Knights makes no sense whatsoever.
Elfieishere · 05/12/2020 22:09

@Feminist10101

Come on, you expect us to believe that you don't understand why everyone's not training their children in all trades?

Do you know many real people?

Thousands. And as a senior HR professional I despair at a large percentage of them.

And the sponge is back 😂
BrandoraPaithwaite · 05/12/2020 22:10

On the topic of Knights in White Satin (... this thread is the first I've heard of Nights not Knights!)

A friend about 16yrs ago sang along to it but sang " Tights that I've shat in" and that's all I can hear ever since.

SendHelp30 · 05/12/2020 22:11

Bet @Feminist10101 is a right laugh at parties!
