To think that this mother is disturbed and needs help?

A woman laid chicken bones and ketchup out with an Elf on the Shelf hat so that it looked like a Grinch toy had eaten him. Her five year old was distraught and is now frightened of the Grinch. She thought it was funny.

Personally I think the whole elf on the shelf thing is disturbed.

ReginaTheEvilQueen · 04/12/2020 08:27

Wow! Thats going too far for a 5 year old!

Lockheart · 04/12/2020 08:33

I think this is not news.

IrisAtwood · 04/12/2020 08:36

@gamerchick I feel the same way about the Elf on the Shelf.

“He was traumatised but I found it hilarious” 🤔

IrisAtwood · 04/12/2020 08:40

Honestly, I hope that that child has someone else in his life because there is something wrong with his mother.

It does seem a bit weird that she happily tells the world "He was traumatised but I found it hilarious."

Ilovesugar · 04/12/2020 08:42

I saw this and thought it was awful. We don’t do elf on the shelf but I thought it was supposed to be a bit of fun. The worst bit was when the kid cried but she just laughed. Great parenting 🙈

Finfintytint · 04/12/2020 08:47

God, five year olds are such snowflakes these days Wink

RJnomore1 · 04/12/2020 08:52

I think that’s hilarious but I wouldn’t do it to a 5 year old it would have had both of mine hysterical at that age.

Floridana · 04/12/2020 08:53

I think a lot of people have run out of ideas for the whole elf on the shelf thing. It started as harmless fun bit some people have made it sinister. It seems to be more for adults now, as this woman probably only did what she did to put it on social media and make her mates laugh

So do I - but to do that to a CHILD is bliddy psycho to me.

She wants locking up!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/12/2020 08:54

Horrible thing to do to a 5 year old.

IrisAtwood · 04/12/2020 08:54

@Finfintytint I know! Mine used to love a good slasher film every night before bed ;)

As an adult, I found the actual picture pretty funny.

But, I don't have kids (on purpose)... So no comment on the phychological trauma for the kid.

confusedx3 · 04/12/2020 08:58

yeah..probably mildly amusing to do this to an adult partner/sibling/friend etc. but poor taste to do to a young child.

TheTrashBagIsOursCmonTrashBag · 04/12/2020 09:00

I don’t think she’s “disturbed” but I do think she misjudged her supposed audience (her son). But she didn’t do it for him she did it for attention from other people.

My children wouldn’t have seen the funny side when they were that age but I wouldn’t have even thought to do that anyway.

Wellpark · 04/12/2020 09:00

She's a nutter. Poor little boy having a mother that laughs at his distress. Needs her arse booting.

gamerchick · 04/12/2020 09:01

Agreed. But the whole thing is a weird thing to do to a child. Letting them think there's a doll coming to life every night while they sleep for a month, is creepy af.

It's definitely for the adults SM more than giving pleasure to the kids imo.

TheShepherdsCrown · 04/12/2020 09:01

This is a joke that is likely to upset a five year old. Fine to do as a prank on adults fed up with elf on the shelf but not on an excited child.

Magicpaintbrush · 04/12/2020 09:01

That's a fucking horrible thing to do to a child. Wtf is wrong with some people? Only a shit parent would do something that, she needs to grow up.

CardoMondo · 04/12/2020 09:02

I have a sick sense of humour and found the picture funny but even I wouldn’t have done that to a 5 year old. She seems a bit unhinged.

GreyishDays · 04/12/2020 09:04

I bet she didn’t actually show her child though, and it was just for SM. (Hope so anyway.)

Fleetwoodmacs · 04/12/2020 09:04

I can see why an adult would find it funny, but it's way too far for a five year old.
