To wait to test until in at least 6 days late?

I'm officially 3 days late. In the summer I had one cycle that was 33 days (they're between 26-27 days). AIBU to at least wait til day 33 this time? I have a copper coil BTW and have around the same symptoms (I'm sure they're psychosomatic).

Do you have any symptoms at all? I am irregular but usually early (but came off the pill 3 months ago so I don't know wether to expect a long cycle too). I'm definitely late now so I'm testing tonight (I know morning would be better). Tested with a very out of date Blush test on Monday and was negative. It has been a very weird month for me all sorts of symptoms.

I've been going to the loo quite often (for both reasons, sorry TMI). My legs and hips really, really hurt. I forgot to add I got promoted and had a bad cold this month (in case that makes any difference).

Why would this be unreasonable? Surely it’s just up to your personal preference?

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 18/11/2020 09:04

What's unreasonable here?

Is unreasonability actually part of this?

Does promotion cause pregnancy? Confused
sociallydistained · 18/11/2020 09:05

I've been going to the toilet to check all day day for the last few days. Driving me mad. I can't wait any longer so DP getting me a test for after work Confused

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 09:05

Not necessarily unreasonable but TO ME it seems silly to test until I'm as late as I was last time. also AIBU usually has more traffic. Grin

If you have a coil and an irregular cycle then 99% you aren’t pregnant. I know about the psychosomatic symptoms, I had a Mirena and no periods and sometimes I would be absolutely convinced I was pregnant. I wasn’t. Smile

But if it’s bugging you, take a test.

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 09:06

The promotion is just some added stress.

Cinderellashoes · 18/11/2020 09:07

I mean I’d just test 🤷‍♀️ do you want to be pregnant?

Only a risk if one is sleeping one’s way to the top!

The conception forum has loads of traffic.

I'd just test as well, use the cheapest ones you can find and keep the extra in the cupboard for the next time your period is late for whatever reason. If you're pregnant, then waiting a couple more days won't make a difference, but by all the information given it's quite unlikely.

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 09:11

I wouldn't say I'm irregular per se the variation is +/- 1 day but after that super long cycle I do t know what to think anymore.

OP posts:
StoneColdBitch · 18/11/2020 09:14

If you have a coil, it's very unlikely, so I would wait until I was a few days late before testing. If you are positive with a coil in, speak to a healthcare professional ASAP for advice.

I may be wide of the mark, but I get the sense that you'd be pleased if you were pregnant. It may be worth having a frank chat with your other half about what you really want...

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 09:20

We want another one but not yet. We were hoping to maybe start in September next year with a six month window. So no, neither of us mind, but it wouldn't be as planned.

OP posts:
Cinderellashoes · 18/11/2020 09:22

Six month window as in maybe six months earlier? March? That isn’t as far off really is it? Do you want to start trying now?

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 09:25

No, as in we're only going to try for six months. We both think we're just borderline "too old" to have another one. So it's like a "que sera, será" attitude. We're getting married in October and I don't want to show for our wedding.

OP posts:
Cinderellashoes · 18/11/2020 10:01

Oh sorry I understand. If you feel that way why not start trying now? I hope you get what you want either way Flowers

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 11:33

We shall see in a few days I expect :)

You may as well as just test to be sure. My cycles are usually 31/32 days. In June, I was 2 weeks late and not pregnant, so spoke to my GP who said my body is likely thrown of sync by lockdown, etc.

In July, I was late again but didn't think anything of it. When I was 5 days late I was visiting my mum who looked at me and just said "are you pregnant? You look pregnant" (freaky, I know...). When I realised I was late I was going to wait until 2 weeks had passed as that's how late I was the previous month, but I thought I may as well take a test the following morning to check, and I was actually pregnant. No harm in doing a test now to put your mind at ease!

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 16:24

It's positive!

@Fressia123 OMG amazing news!! Congratulations!!! How exciting!!

How do you feel?!

Fressia123 · 18/11/2020 17:10

@MsHedgehog you were the first thing I thought about when I saw the HPT. DP is nervous-excited!

@Fressia123 Haha I'm so glad you went ahead and tested! What an exciting time for you both!

Will this change your wedding plans at all?! Sorry, I know you only just found out but you sound so similar to me! We should have had our big wedding back in June but cancelled because, you know, corona... When I found out I'm pregnant we decided to go ahead with a covid wedding so I could still fit into my dress! We got married at 12 weeks and whilst I wasn't showing, my dress was a tad snug! Do you have your dress yet?!
