I think the use of swear words comes as a shock because she can't enunciate clearly so you don't realise there are quite a few swear words in her songs as she could be saying anything!

When DS1 was in year R we made a slide show of something which he took into school to show his class. It had "So What" by P!nk as the backing track as that was his favourite song. Only we didn't use the 'radio edit' and didn't realise she said fuck in it. Maybe more than once. Until he took it into school. I was so embarrassed when I explained to his teacher at home time. Apparently she didn't notice it either

I never knew Ariana in her Disney years. She first came my attention as a pop star and I thought she was always firmly in the raunchy stable of song-writing. She has some great songs but her entire career has been pretty sexualized - or that was certainly my perception.

First song I ever heard from her was "Love Me Harder", a duet with The Weekend which pretty much implores him to do what you think.
