To wonder if matched betting does really pay off

Does it still work? How much effort does it take and how much do you make out of it?
I have a few spare hours a week (contract reduced) so need something to boost income a little (or a lot would be nice!)

I started v slowly in March and made about £300, then all the sport stopped and I stopped. Took my money out so it wasn't left in several different places with all the uncertainty, and now I don't have the motivation to start again yet, but I do need to. I'm a mathematical brain so I actually enjoyed it but I just can't see myself building up enough bankroll, as I could probably only put £100 back in now and without the bigger welcome offers I feel it will be slow going to build back up. I didn't have a separate bank account either but I would get one if I started again.

I have considered it but not sure I have the time!

I’m told it works though!

It does work. I made 2k really easily in about 6 weeks this time last year with all the sign up offers (& a bit of casino).

Once I’d done those though it needed a lot of time / work to keep any level of income coming in and I just didn’t want to spend that time (read- dh got fed up with me having to place bets at specific times) so I stopped.

I still do the odd casino offer that comes in though that isn’t guaranteed profit - but not too bad if you choose the offers really carefully. I made £100 yesterday on a good offer.

The Team Profit guides were really helpful to get started.

You need reasonable attention to detail - I’m on a couple of Facebook groups and some people make really horrible and expensive mistakes.

I made about £12,000 over two and a half years. I really enjoyed it but then I'm quite geeky like that. It does get a lot harder to generate consistent income after a while though. I'm gubbed my most of the bookies and also don't have the time to devote any more either.

Certainly sign up to OddsMonkey and Team Profit if you are interested as they're invaluable.

My OH does it and makes a couple of hundred quid a month. He's got a good maths brain and is very level-headed, not an addictive personality at all and hasn't ever really lost money -- from what I know it isn't really addictive.

It bores the crap out of me personally and I would hate to have to spend time worrying about it but I think its fairly harmless. I do think you have to commit a bit of time to it to make it worthwhile.

@cluecu

Keep meaning to do this! Does it impact your credit score?
You're not borrowing so it won't touch your credit report. But some lenders want to see bank statements, especially for mortgages, and they won't like a statement full of money going in and coming out of bookmakers. Therefore use a separate bank account.

Thank you @safariboot Smile

It does work. I started in Jan 2019 with £100. Have never put any more in, I just recycle the profits. Started off with sports matched betting making £2/300 a month.

Am now barred from most sports bookmaker offers so concentrate on casino offers instead. Now averaging around £600 a month doing 10-15 hours a week. In total I've made around £12,000. Spent £9000 on a car and £3k is still used as my bank roll for reinvesting in new offers.

I would recommend a opening a separate bank account and a new email address just to keep everything separate from your day to day life. Also easier to see exactly how much profit you have if it's not muddle up with the household bills. I use Odds monkey and Team Casino to find offers, keep track of what I've done and odds matching.

Just use a standard spreadsheet and tot up my profits at the end of each month.
