@MrsMigginsMate we shouldn’t celebrate too much but now Biden is leading when Trump was leading and the votes that haven’t been counted yet seem democrat leaning.

womanaf · 06/11/2020 14:22

I'm really confused, if there's so many PA votes left to count then why are we celebrating? Sorry I'm sure I'm being thick!

Because of where they are, and the kind of vote they are (postal votes) which have mostly been for Biden so far.

Phoenix21 · 06/11/2020 14:22

@RedToothBrush I remember you saying a few years ago (yes years) that If trump lost 2020 it would be a White House gunfight.

nauticant · 06/11/2020 14:22

It's because on the current trend the majority of them are likely to be for Biden MrsMigginsMate. They're mail ballots and in PA these were used more by Democrats than Republicans.

StirlingFloss · 06/11/2020 14:22

Hurray, a Black woman will be going up for US President in 2024!

CaveMum · 06/11/2020 14:22

@StirlingFloss

Out of interest does anyone know which other 3 presidents were one term only? I know I can Google....
I knew George W Bush but Wikipedia says these are the one term Presidents.

Ford was one, I think - was Nixon's VP, got in when NIxon resigned.

Don't know who the other two are.

MrsMigginsMate · 06/11/2020 14:23

Thanks cinnamon, I won't crack out the champagne just yet then just in case!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 06/11/2020 14:23

@CaveMum

CNN anchor saying if Biden is a President, he’s President regardless of what a Trump says and taking about him being physically escorted from the White House if he “refuses to accept reality”.

So sad, such a shame.

DH and I were joking about them having to drug him and carry him out and wondered if we could get away with him waking up in Trump tower and thinking it was all a dream...

Like Dallas when Bobby walked out of the shower Wink

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/11/2020 14:24

@BlueCatRedCat

It's like in all that time he's faded away. He's sort of evaporated.

CNN were reporting (before they called Philly) that Trump is saying he's not going anywhere.

So he'll be claiming Squatters' rights then?
TheKeatingFive · 06/11/2020 14:24

Wow he will not go quietly 😳

Mortifying

womanaf · 06/11/2020 14:25

The 3 one-term presidents is about ones who tried and failed to secure a second term. The others didn’t try. I can’t remember which though.

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 14:25

@womanaf

Worse than trespassing, surely. High treasoning. Is that a thing?
Article Three of the United States Constitution

Section 3 defines treason and limits its punishment.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Might want to keep an eye on Donnie Junior:

Donald Trump Jr. @DonaldJTrumpJr
The best thing for America’s future is for @realDonaldTrump to go to total war over this election to expose all of the fraud, cheating, dead/no longer in state voters, that has been going on for far too long.

It’s time to clean up this mess & stop looking like a banana republic!

StirlingFloss · 06/11/2020 14:25

Thanks @CaveMum. I don't know why I thought it was only 3. Thought Biden mentioned it yesterday.

Pomegranatespompom · 06/11/2020 14:25

Gosh it's so emotional. Please let this be something good to come out of 2020.
As for Melania - I can't reel any sympathy after the in jacket/enabling/passiveness.

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 14:26

One term presidents:

George HW Bush (lost to Bill Clinton)

Jimmy Carter (lost to road Reagan)

I think Gerald Ford

StirlingFloss · 06/11/2020 14:26

Ah @womanaf that makes sense! In that case another reason that this really is a historical achievement.

CaveMum · 06/11/2020 14:26

These are the “partial term” Presidents.

Poor old William Harrison, died of Typhoid or Pneumonia (accounts differ) just 31 days after Inauguration.

Fiderer · 06/11/2020 14:26

Can't hear the words "cusp" or "verge" from CNN any more!

Haven't watched CNN (bloody) International for years when it was the only English language station I could get here in Germany. Today it's been on all day and must say, was impressed. Liked how they go into each county in detail.

CaveMum · 06/11/2020 14:27

@StirlingFloss

Thanks *@CaveMum*. I don't know why I thought it was only 3. Thought Biden mentioned it yesterday.
They might be referring to the “modern day” Presidents only.
womanaf · 06/11/2020 14:27

RTB
Good thing no one reads Donnie’s tweets or there would be more than two witnesses to him calling for war...

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 14:29

One Term Presidents

StirlingFloss · 06/11/2020 14:30

I'm so excited but trying not to be prematurely so....

But ... it feels like 2020 did the right thing at last? GrinGrin

Nancydrawn · 06/11/2020 14:30

Probably means 3 in the modern era, which is the shorthand people use for post WWI/women's suffrage. The three since then are Hoover, Carter, and HW Bush (Ford doesn't count as he was never elected).

SanFranBear · 06/11/2020 14:30

YAS!!
