2 days late on my period negative test

SunflowerSeed1234 · 22/10/2020 08:38

Hi all. I'm normally really really regular although last month I was 1 day late. So far I'm on day 32 in my cycle. I usually come on around 29/30 days.

I'm not experiencing any pregnancy or period symptoms. Just sore boobs.

I have done 2 clear blue tests one yesterday and one today both were certainly negative.

Anyone else had experience with this? The tests are 100% negative so am I assuming something else is wrong now?

Please help. TIA 💛 xx

Periods change all the time, with hormonal fluctuations. I’m sure it’s disconcerting if you’ve always been very regular, but honestly, a few days here and there is nothing to be concerned about. Have you been stressed or ill? Menstruation is very sensitive to other things going on in your body. I wouldn’t be at all concerned. Sore boobs probably mean your period is imminent. Try to relax, as that will help things get back to normal.

LG101 · 22/10/2020 08:46

There is a chance you could be pregnant and ovulate later than standard meaning the tests won’t pick anything up yet.

Or like above if you have been stressed etc then you might be slightly late not pregnant. Try to relax and not think about out (easier said than done) and if you haven’t started your period in a few days do another test. Might be worth getting an early response once as they are more sensitive

Hahaha88 · 22/10/2020 08:49

2 days late is nothing to be worried about and doesn't indicate a problem.

Cheeseboardandmincepies · 22/10/2020 08:50

2 days late doesn’t mean there’s a issue OP. Maybe Google hypochondriac.

SunflowerSeed1234 · 22/10/2020 08:51

We have been ttc for about a year now after a loss in late Dec. I don't want to get my hopes up as a baby would be very much loved and wanted. It was an early detection set that I bought so I can only assume I am not pregnant in that case

I suppose it could be normal. My uterus feels really heavy too.

So frustrating. Thank you x

It happens sometimes. I was really early a couple of months ago (I’m usually like clockwork) so I obviously googled to find out what type of cancer I have, and settled on “random hormonal bullshit” 😂

I’m a couple of days late this month. Usually I’d be freaking out about being pregnant but I think my cycle has just decided it’s going to be fucky at the moment! 😳

dontdisturbmenow · 22/10/2020 09:03

Periods will gradually last longer until it starts to go the other way as you get into your 30s and 40s.

Very frustrating when you are TTC.

Redolent · 22/10/2020 09:14

Have you just started taking supplements like Pregnacare? That could be the cause.

northstars · 22/10/2020 09:16

It’s only 2 days. Nothing to worry about. Stress can make periods irregular

SunflowerSeed1234 · 22/10/2020 09:35

I was taking folic acid but stopped around 2 months ago and have since been taking that for one month and vit d for around 5 weeks x

I didn't get a PPT until I was 10 days late.

SunflowerSeed1234 · 22/10/2020 11:17

Oh wow yes getting on to mid 30s 😖.

I've always been regular to the day

BlackRibboner · 22/10/2020 11:26

Do you know when you ovulated? Your period should be between 10 and 16 days after that. Ovulation date can change for all sorts of reasons, regular cycle or not, so I always prefer to go by luteal phase rather than whole cycle.

2 days late in a cycle doesn't mean anything really, good or bad - it's normal fluctuation, even if you're like clockwork usually. Sorry, I know that's not the concrete answer you probably want - my very irregular cycle was the bane of my life when trying to conceive.

Osirus · 22/10/2020 11:52

You’ve probably just ovulated a few days later than usual. Your luteal phase will usually always be the same length. Mine’s 16 days and was before I got pregnant and is still the same now. I’m late 30s.

With negative tests you’re probably not pregnant. A heavy feeling could be anything, but I certainly didn’t feel anything like that when I was pregnant. I felt completely normal.

ErickBroch · 22/10/2020 12:13

Periods can b 5/6 days late with no reason for concern. I am sorry it's not the news you wanted as you are ttc. But there is not anything wrong with being 2 days late... normal.

SunflowerSeed1234 · 22/10/2020 20:40

Thanks all. I guess I was wondering could I be pregnant. But with 2 negative tests it sounds incredibly incredibly unlikely. Still no period.... am I ok to have 1 small glass of wine then. 😞 could do with something to help me relax.

Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon Flowers

PardonMyFrancais · 22/10/2020 21:00

I could have written that exact post last month. I was really excited as my period is always right on time and we’ve been TTC since March, but it arrived a couple days late for no reason.

I’m in the same boat again now in a way - period due in a few days and I have really sore, heavy boobs but no other symptoms.

I have everything crossed for good news for you. OP. I know how hard all of the hope can be.

Humpty11 · 22/10/2020 21:04

TTC is so emotionally draining and when our bodies do something like this it messes with our heads even more. As others have said it could be that you ovulated later than normal. The other thing is that I don’t think clear blue pregnancy tests are very sensitive so you may still be pregnant yet haven’t produced enough HCG for the pregnancy test to pick up. Have you tried another brand? I hope you get your wish soon 🤞🏼

AngeloMysterioso · 22/10/2020 21:07

The first time I was pregnant I had a negative test at I think 3 days late. Didn’t get the positive til I was about a week late.

BadlyDrawnSimpsonsCharacter · 22/10/2020 21:12

I'm regular with my cycle OP and last month I was 5 days late.
Not pregnant, just my body deciding to play an early Halloween trick I think!
These things happen - I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress about it.

SunflowerSeed1234 · 23/10/2020 09:22

Thank you all for your lovely comments gave me little tears makes me think I am due soon as I feel really emotional. I am trying to relax. Day 3 over now. I haven't tested again as I have to take those negatives as a result. That was on 1 day over. How accurate are the tests at that stage? X

OP posts:
CressidaTheHeathen · 23/10/2020 09:31

At 3 days late they’re fairly accurate (digital less so).

I was regular too until I hit my 30s and was TTC... went from 28 days without fail to between 27 and 45 days. Very stressful.

Feelingconfused2020 · 23/10/2020 09:35

I would probably test again this morning. Although you missed the ideal window of first thing so could wait until tomorrow morning. Use a different type of test. Really praying for you xx

PancakesAndSyrup · 23/10/2020 10:05

Do you track ovulation? If not there's not really any way to know if you're actually late or not. You could have ovulated later than usual which will make your period arrive later. You could have had an anovulatory cycle (no egg released this cycle) which can throw your cycles way off what's normal for you. Give it a few days and test again if your period still hasn't arrived. But the main thing I'd say is to look after yourself, good luck op Flowers
