Covid app notifications

Posting for traffic... had a notification from the Covid app today saying 'possible Covid 19 exposure... I clicked the notification and it vanished, went onto the app and nothing... now I'm wondering what am I meant to do. The app says when you've been exposed to someone with corona you'll get a notification with advice/further instructions... anyone know what those further instructions are?

So I'm debating starting a whole new thread about this, as everywhere I look I read that if you get a notification but nothing in the app it means you can ignore the notification.

However my housemate tested positive this morning. She input the details into the app. About 30 mins later I received a notification (presumably from her positive result) and then when I went into the app there was nothing there.

Even more worryingly last week I had one of these phantom notifications and I ignored it because I had heard that they were meaningless. Now wondering if I'd beeen exposed and that's where housemate got Covid from as we've been careful and only infrequently go out.

Just as a warning to others really!

@MrsMidgeMaisel
I've had a few of the phantom notifications but always get a second one that says "we've assessed your risk this time and there's no need to take action" (or something along those lines) I've also been told that you don't actually need to isolate unless you are informed by track and trace, rather than the app.

But what I'm saying is, I know for a fact that my housemate has tested positive.
She input the details then 30 mins later I got one of the phantom notifications.
Previously I'd have ignored it - as everything online says unless you're told to isolate within the app ignore it.
Yet surely I should now be being told within the app to isolate? So I'm wondering if the phantom notifications are in actual fact supposed to be real notifications ?

Yes possibly, I've always just ignored them, although maybe that's the wrong thing to do, the app doesn't seem that reliable.
