To ask how often you cut your long hair

My hair is long and I don't do much to it. I get it trimmed probably 3-4x a year and it looks fine, am I meant to be trimming it every 6-8weeks like people recommend?

HoratiotheHorsefly · 29/08/2020 10:31

I have mine cut 3-4 times a year as well.

Disneyvillain · 29/08/2020 10:32

My daughter’s is cut only twice a year.

kemosabeimalone · 29/08/2020 10:35

Once or twice a year and then only a trim of an inch or so. At its longest it’s half way down my back. I sometimes snip off split ends in the interim.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 29/08/2020 10:36

Shoulder length hair and I only get it cut about 4 or 5 times a year. I've never felt the need to get my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks, even when I had short, layered styles.

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/08/2020 10:36

About 4 times a year. Fringe every 3-4 weeks.

seayork2020 · 29/08/2020 10:38

Every few years when it was much longer now it is just below shoulders maybe a couple of times a year

EggHead268 · 29/08/2020 10:38

Only about once a year. Hate going to the hairdresser's so I just don't go. Hair is in pretty good condition considering. I don't dry or straighten it very often though, maybe only once a month or so?

Ginkypig · 29/08/2020 10:39

Sometimes 1 or 2 times a year a year other times Iv not had it cut for 2 or more at least twice Iv gone well over 6 years Blush

I just can't be arsed and don't want to have to deal with the argument about taking too much off.

Strugglingtodomybest · 29/08/2020 10:40

Once, maybe twice, a year.

Crylittlesister · 29/08/2020 10:41

Once a year, I donate it then regrow it.

Ginkypig · 29/08/2020 10:41

I should say though I don't use product or heat more than about once a year though.

AriettyHomily · 29/08/2020 10:42

2/3 times a year

PontiacBandit · 29/08/2020 10:43

Twice a year usually, when it looks scruffy

DrawerOfDoom · 29/08/2020 10:45

Once a year.

sanityisamyth · 29/08/2020 10:47

Mine hasn't been touched for 15 months. I hate going to the hairdresser and I moved areas 12 months ago so hate the thought of having to try a new place.

Badoukas · 29/08/2020 11:04

Every 6 weeks. Mobile hairdresser comes to us regularly to cut the short haired male members of the family. I wouldnt bother any more than 4 times a year otherwise.

EmberElftree · 29/08/2020 11:17

Twice a year. I use the YouTube DIY method of ponytail at forehead then chop! Mine is bum length.

DieSchottin93 · 29/08/2020 11:27

My hair is just past waist length at the moment and I haven't had it cut since last November. 99% of the time though I wear my hair up with the ends tucked under so it doesn't look too bad. I trim my fringe myself though because it grows so quickly 🤣

maddening · 29/08/2020 11:31

Probably every couple of years

LST · 29/08/2020 11:39

I haven't had my hair cut in nearly 3 years and I haven't been to a hairdressers for about 5. Its in pretty good condition too. The ends could probably do with a slight trim but not noticeably.

honeylulu · 29/08/2020 11:47

2-3 times a year. Mine is nearly boob length and straight with a few layers through the last few inches and a layered floppy fringe. It isn't in bad condition and I just forget about having it cut to be honest, and no one notices when I do! I last had it cut in feb and I've booked for next week, as the fringe is so long now it's annoying me.

honeylulu · 29/08/2020 11:50

I meant to add I don't think 6-8 weeks is necessary unless you like your hair a really particular length or are prone to bad split ends from heat treatment etc.

iolaus · 29/08/2020 11:51

about once a year,

speakout · 29/08/2020 11:53

Once or twice a year.
Hairdressers usually want to take too much off, so I limit my visits.

Rebelwithallthecause · 29/08/2020 11:56

Once a year , but I don’t really use much heated styling so no split ends in that time otherwise I would cut it more often
