I guess it varies from bank to bank and they won't all be at the same time.

My salary always goes in about 12:10am (Halifax).

Nomore79 · 28/08/2020 10:58

Mine goes in when someone remembers to hit the 'send' button, I assume, as it turns up at various times on payday.
The only proviso stated for us is that it'll be before 6pm.
It's been there the day before some months, it's not been there until 5pm others.

Charmatt · 28/08/2020 10:58

IT upgrades happen overnight for most major companies. If there is one scheduled, it can impact on the time it would usually take.

If an IT upgrade isn't happening then mine is usually in by 4 am.

Spidey66 · 28/08/2020 10:59

Officially I get paid on the 27th, but it's often there on the evening of the 26th. Work for NHS.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/08/2020 10:59

Usually by 2am or 3am at the latest - HSBC. Actually, I think it might be 2am for payments due to come in and then 3am for payments out, so you can set it up to automatically transfer money out or pay bills on pay day and it won't reject them because there aren't enough funds in there for the sake of an hour or less.

AriettyHomily · 28/08/2020 11:00

Seems to go in just after midnight. It has occasionally turned up early.

Cheesecakejar · 28/08/2020 11:02

Funny this thread should appear as we are still waiting for DH's to hit the bank. Today is payday. Luckily we aren't desperate for it by any stretch but there will be people who are, he works for a small business (employ around 20 staff) and there is never any set time for pay, has been in at 6am before. I presume it's done manually whenever the owner can be arsed! 🤷‍♀️ mine is always in before 5am, work for a large organisation with their own payroll team.

newidentiy · 28/08/2020 11:08

If payday is the 28th, for example, it can go in anytime on 28th. Some companies set up days before and others set up on the day. As long as it goes in before midnight on the payday then it is not late.

Chasingsquirrels · 28/08/2020 11:08

Before midnight the day before usually - I have alerts set up on my account and they always come late evening the day before pay day.

topcat2014 · 28/08/2020 11:11

Medium size firms will pay with a BACS file that has a three day cycle. Receipt time will be early am, as our is automated.

Smaller firms will use faster payments, which, I think, arrive within two hours of being sent

ClareBlue · 28/08/2020 11:15

Big organisations run a role through their bank which usually starts the evening before of which is why it sometimes goes in evening before. But it can take a few hours for big public sector employers to get through the role. It would be unusual for it to take past 3am. Small roles on standard paydays can be lower down priorities and go through last.

When it goes wrong as per Ulster Bank a few years ago in Ireland it took 3 weeks, which was fun for us, not.

Themadcatparade · 28/08/2020 11:18

Mines always there the morning of the payday but I never knew what time it went in. Funnily enough my banking app upgraded this week and I now get instant notification of any incoming and outgoing payments. I got a notification at 12:50 last night saying I’d been paid

ShalomToYouJackie · 28/08/2020 11:19

I use Monzo so get pay at 4pm the day before, best thing ever!

OnlyaMummy · 28/08/2020 11:19

In a larger company it would go in at midnight every month without fail.

Now in a smaller company it could be any day in the last week of the month when someone decides its pay dayGrin

CatBatCat · 28/08/2020 11:37

I get paid on the 26th it usually arrives anywhere between midday and 4pm

unmarkedbythat · 28/08/2020 11:39

No idea, never checked. It's always in by the time I am travelling in to work, because I check then to make sure, but I couldn't tell you if it goes in at 0001 or 0659!

emmathedilemma · 28/08/2020 11:43

Not got a clue and looking at my online banking it doesn't show times but it's always the first transaction on that date so I assume around midnight. Big corporate company.

FranklyDearIDontRiverdance · 28/08/2020 11:44

I’m with Santander and mine goes in about 10pm the night before. It was the same when I banked with Lloyd’s.

Moneypenny007 · 28/08/2020 11:45

Supposed to be the last Friday of the month but our fantastic accountant some how screws this up and its normally the Monday before I get it. Or Tuesday if its a bank holiday. It really annoys me as I have been the only one earning and I sometimes have to dip into savings if something unexpected comes up.

iolaus · 28/08/2020 11:49

No idea - but if I look at my online banking the day before it shows as pending - then when I wake up its there

FlumpetCrumpet · 28/08/2020 11:50

I can always see mine pending the precious day but it varies as to when it clears into my account, some time in the early hours, it's always there when I wake up. In my days of being beyond skint and going clubbing it was always around 2am, never in time to get another round in!

user32723 · 28/08/2020 11:50

I was actually talking about this last night on a late shift. It depends on your bank not your employee. Not all banks pay at midnight on Friday if you are due a Monday pay for eg but I know Santander and Barclays do and probably some others. It depends if they have their branches open on Saturdays. I always have my payments in at the stroke of midnight the day I am due to be paid and my bank is Barclays.

FlumpetCrumpet · 28/08/2020 11:50

*previous, although payday is of course the most precious of days!

TheoriginalLEM · 28/08/2020 12:23

Oh! I could have looked in my pending transactions then? But sirely that would show as a separate thing amount in account vs amount available

BikeTyson · 28/08/2020 12:25

It’s paid by BACS so is about 2am.
