Mine appears overnight on payday, but I work for a big organisation, no idea what time it arrives.

DP currently works for a small company and I assume that his comes by faster payments sent by a person rather than a big 'pay run' as his arrives at some time in the afternoon of his payday, which is every other Monday at the moment - I'm wondering what they're going to do next week whether it will come on the BH, some time over the weekend, or not until Tuesday, not that it really matters to us anyway.

vanillandhoney · 28/08/2020 14:47

When I was on PAYE, mine came in around 1-2am. I was with Natwest.

Thehop · 28/08/2020 14:48

Same as @Nomore79 here

Depends when my boss sends it

babycakes1010 · 28/08/2020 15:24

Any time from midnight and 1am...nationwide

Pleasegodgotosleep · 28/08/2020 16:38

I have previously worked in payments for a large bank so here's what I know -

  • if you work for a small company that manually processes payments through online banking it can be whenever someone gets round to doing it.
  • if you work for a company that outources their payroll ( to an accountant for example) it will be run on a certain day and if by bacs will be set up a couple of days before for a certain date but not time
  • if it's a large company that runs it's own payroll then it will likely be set ip by faster payment and can be swept over anytime after midnight on the specified date. It normally happens before 6am but may not if, for example, there wasn't enough funds in the account to cover the payments.

Dh's goes in dead on midnight - he gets paid every 4 weeks on a Wednesday and it hits like clockwork. Mine goes in at about 1am I think? Natwest. It's always in when I check when I wake up at 6am ish.

Waveysnail · 28/08/2020 17:42

No idea. I'm paid about 4 days before end of the month but all debits go out from the first. Makes things simple

cricketballs3 · 28/08/2020 18:17

Sorry, usually snoring - but is always in there when I wake up around 6am. DH though has to wait for his boss to press the button which can be anywhere between 10am on payday to 6pm the next day (we don't have any payments scheduled based on his due date)

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 28/08/2020 18:22

Mine goes in at 2.01am and my direct debits go out at 3am - insomnia so tend to see all the notifications come in.

I’m also with Monzo and can access my money from 4pm the day before if needed.

wildcherries · 28/08/2020 18:25

Around 3 am on the last working day of the month. DDs go out from the 1st.

Moreisnnogedag · 28/08/2020 18:29

I’ve just checked and mine is showing midnight exactly for every pay cheque. NHS

Watto1 · 28/08/2020 18:37

I work for a smallish company and (approx 80 people) and it’s always there by the time I check it at about 7am. However, there was one memorable occasion when the lady that does the payroll was on holiday on payday. She set it all up so that in advance so that we would be paid on our usual day, or at least she thought she had. She managed to pay us all a fortnight early!

Watto1 · 28/08/2020 18:38

Ignore the first ‘so that’

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 28/08/2020 18:44

A few years ago, payment runs typically had to be submitted the day before (or incur big charges).
With 'faster payments' in recent years most (possibly smaller, not sure of limits on volume of transactions) organisations will make same day transfers, so as PP has said, depends on when someone presses the button.
In terms of overdraft charges, I think banks base this on the end of day close position, so if you have payments going out on the same day it shouldn't matter.

purplecorkheart · 28/08/2020 18:45

I have no idea to be honest. Fortunately I am able to keep a bit of money in my current account to keep me going if my wages are delayed etc so never have had to check on the day.

MissConductUS · 28/08/2020 18:46

It's always there by 5:00 AM or so when I check it. I get paid every two weeks, which is nice.

melodypondisasuperhero · 28/08/2020 18:46

I’m the one who makes the payments in my company and I always set it up in advance so it’s there first thing in the morning. Not sure if that’s midnight or 5 am though! DH’s company doesn’t set it up in advance so it’s whenever the owner gets round to it.

Pebblexox · 28/08/2020 18:47

I'm with NatWest and money goes into my bank at 2am.

LadyCatStark · 28/08/2020 18:49

We can ‘claim’ ours at 4pm the day before it’s due to go in with Monzo bank.

GardenersDelight · 28/08/2020 18:51

This made me laugh! I look after a severely disabled toddler, mum and dad own and run a large independent vet practice so are usually rushed off their feet. Mum pays me by direct bank transfer and I'm just glad if it gets there by the 3rd or so of following month! 🤣

LaPampa · 28/08/2020 18:58

Whenever some runs the bank payments I think as sometimes it is there when I wake up, other times appears during the afternoon.

ClashCityRocker · 28/08/2020 19:00

Haven't checked recently, but in my younger days it used to be around ten minutes after midnight.

I only know because they were my 'out out' years and many a night has been saved by my salary going in at midnight!

WanderingMilly · 28/08/2020 19:03

It shows in pending beforehand, but doesn't arrive in my account until around 5am......

Flynn999 · 28/08/2020 19:07

My last company I was paid by bank transfer and the owner used to do it when she got round to it Angry after I left she didn’t pay me till 23:59 the day I was due to get paid.

Every other company I’ve worked for sometime between about midnight and 6am (I’ve never got up and found it’s not been in by 6).

Lolwhat · 28/08/2020 19:12

Usually a few mins after midnight
