To think i havent got Covid

I've had constant awful headaches and nausea over the last few days.My good friend is adamant that these are some of the lesser known symptoms of covid and convinced me to send off for a test which is arriving today.I genuinely feel like shit but I thought there were more prominent symptoms where covid is concerned.Aibu to be not concerned or is df for worrying unnecessarily?

That’s pretty unlikely to be Covid.

Presumably you had to pretend you had one of the three official symptoms to get a test through the nhs?

Are you and your house self isolating?

LittleHootie · 22/08/2020 10:29

Neither of you is unreasonable. It's good that you arent worried, and it's good you are getting checked. Get well soon whatever it is.

I had the same thing couple of weeks ago headaches for a week, nausea. Sore throat with mine. Few people I know have had similar. Got a test just in case and it was negative.

AriesTheRam · 22/08/2020 10:38

@LittleHootie thats good news then

Yes we are isolating

SchnitzelVon · 22/08/2020 10:43

As per little @LittleHootie don't worry until there's something to worry about....do the test and isolate until you get the results....the home tests take around 3 days to come back which is annoying but if you're feeling rough you won’t be going anywhere will you.

Other bugs are still going about as normal so could be something else.

SchnitzelVon · 22/08/2020 10:46

Have you got little ones? I had periods in full lockdown where I felt like absolute crap, like I was coming down with something....we weren't even going to the supermarket so knew it couldn't be covid or anything else so I think it was just extreme tiredness that comes with having a busy job and small children who wake at 5am!

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/08/2020 10:46

No harm in doing the test.

AriesTheRam · 22/08/2020 10:49

@SchnitzelVon its not a run down feeling its very bad headaches plus nausea and sometimes tingling in hands

OP posts:
firstevernamechange · 22/08/2020 10:52

Covid presents different in different people. My partner and I both had it and it first presented as a mild cough and a slight temperature (and it continued to be mild). Nausea is a lesser known symptom as is a headache and 'feeling rundown'.
Point is you don't know unless you take the test.
If it turns out to be Covid, you are still pretty likely to come out of it alive and well at the other end.

PurpleDaisies · 22/08/2020 10:53

Which symptom did you say you had to get the test?

firstevernamechange · 22/08/2020 10:56

Tbh, the tingling in the hands is a big clue that it might be Covid. This is something I experienced towards the end. You were wise to get the test. And even if it is covid, things are looking good that there is immunity for a while afterwards.*

MJMG2015 · 22/08/2020 10:58

Either way, I hope you're feeling better soon, sounds horrible whatever it is 🌷

But no harm in getting tested! Just make sure you do the test properly, I think I'd really struggle to inset it far enough myself 🙄

Prettybluepigeons · 22/08/2020 10:59

Those saying she must have lied to get the test, if you do the tracker app nausea is one of the things they ask you about so no need to be unpleasant Hmm

Northernsoullover · 22/08/2020 11:00

I work in an area dealing with covid positive people and symptoms range from no symptoms, headache, no symptoms other than shoulder pain. Of the 10 plus people I have spoken to this week only one person has had a cough and only one has lost their sense of smell. I think the safest way to deal with any illness at the moment is to get a test.

Northernsoullover · 22/08/2020 11:02

These are the symptoms we look for;
Fever
Headache
Anosmia
Gastric (d & v and nausea)
Loss of appetite
Runny nose
Cough

EleanorOalike · 22/08/2020 11:03

If you check the Zoe App or even just the website you’ll find more info on the various “types” of Covid that have emerged. Off the top of my head, I think there are two where the symptoms do not include fever or cough but do include headaches, digestive ailments etc.

You most likely don’t have it but there is no harm in ordering a test. It’s best to do it ASAP though as there is actually only a very short window (of around 5 days) when you will actually test positive if you do have Covid.

hollieberrie · 22/08/2020 11:05

Sounds like Covid to me. I had all of those symptoms. The tingling was so odd.

maddy68 · 22/08/2020 11:14

They are symptoms of covid. You can go and have a test it's no biggy. Book it online on the gov.uk site

Needhelp101 · 22/08/2020 11:17

I too had bad nausea, tingling in hands but no temperature or loss of taste and smell. Bad cough though. Also tinnitus and smelling weird stuff, like burning meat. It's an odd virus!

AriesTheRam · 22/08/2020 11:50

Thanks for replying everyone. The test came at 11am from amazon just managed to post it in time for the last collection. For those saying I've acquired the test dishonestly I really haven't ive googled the symptoms and I'm confident now that I've done the right thing.

OP posts:
vodkaredbullgirl · 22/08/2020 11:54

I just had to look at Amazon, didnt know they had partnership with the NHS

AriesTheRam · 22/08/2020 12:02

@vodkaredbullgirl I was surprised when it said dispatched by amazon

Pythonesque · 22/08/2020 13:15

Now that we hopefully have the testing capacity, it's really important that we all use a very low threshold to isolate and test with almost any mild symptoms and illness. Hope you start feeling better soon, whatever it is, and right call to do a test for this.

MiniMaxi · 22/08/2020 13:17

Have you got a carbon monoxide detector? Headaches and nausea can be symptoms of CO poisoning.

MiniMaxi · 22/08/2020 13:18

Btw I would def say worth checking for Covid. I just was invited to do one by the Covid / Zoe app and all I logged was fatigue.

LittleHootie · 22/08/2020 13:20

I ticked "none of these symptons" when I requested the test and was still sent one. So nobody needs to be dishonest in their request. Loads of cases where people have non-standard symptoms.
