I've had constant awful headaches and nausea over the last few days.My good friend is adamant that these are some of the lesser known symptoms of covid and convinced me to send off for a test which is arriving today.I genuinely feel like shit but I thought there were more prominent symptoms where covid is concerned.Aibu to be not concerned or is df for worrying unnecessarily?

Presumably you had to pretend you had one of the three official symptoms to get a test through the nhs?
If you say you have none of the 3 listed symptoms you can still get a test.

Of course she didn't get the test dishonestly. It's far better to check, although how reliable the home administered ones are is debatable due to how far back you have to stick the swab. There must be many asymptomatic people who went for the drive through one and had a positive test result.

EleanorOalike · 22/08/2020 14:12

I’ve had a test in the last couple of days and ticked that I didn’t have the three main symptoms. However, I have other symptoms and have been in contact with a Covid positive person.

We get tested every week for work (care home), no one has had symptoms. Have had a few, who had false positives, then negative.

I find it amazing and depressing in equal measures that people are still trying to talk people out of having a test or accusing them of getting one under false pretences. They want you to get tested, the whole system relies on people getting tested at an early stage so they don't pass it on.
Hope you feel better soon op, you're doing the right thing in getting a test but don't worry about it. Thousands of people daily are doing the same as you and most are negative.

My DH and DD have been for tests today. My husband has a runny nose and is a little croaky and we're due to visit both sets of parents next week so we decided to play safe and get him tested. Dd was told by her work to get tested when she rang to say that she wouldn't be able to go to work because he was getting tested. The form has an option to say you have none of the 3 main symptoms but allows you to carry on and book a test anyway Luckily we live 10 mins drive from one of the big testing centres. Started the process at 11.50. Slot booked for 12.20, home by 1.00.
This is a big test centre and there was 5 cars there so we've not stopped anyone getting a test that needed one and we would rather be safe than sorry when our elderly parents are involved.

Yes Christmas, it's totally ridiculous. Of course they want people to get tested. These are probably the same people telling you not to waste NHS time when you are almost on your deathbed!

fuckingcovid · 22/08/2020 14:38

It's much better to have a test and know you needn't isolate any more. Who wouldn't want a test in your circumstances?

drinkingwineoutofamug · 22/08/2020 14:54

My 1st symptom, I vomited. Thought gastro. By the end of the day I knew what I was (worked covid ward). Headache was awful, sore throat, croaky voice... everything except temp. Even had the now famous rash.

stopringingme · 22/08/2020 15:04

We have all had coughs/runny noses/ sore throats so we got the home test.

Received the test on Wednesday evening, delivered by Amazon but missed the last collection . Not that I wanted to do the test that day as it was my Birthday !

Done the test Thursday, posted and got the results at 7.15pm on Friday - all negative.

Was impressed how quick and easy it was - if a bit uncomfortable.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 22/08/2020 15:08

I’m in Australia.
Our GP won’t see our 3 year old with pink eye and a mild cough until she gets tested. (Which was done though a drive through testing this morning. Dd was totally fine with it)
Here we are told if you have any cold or flu symptoms (no matter how mild) you need to get tested. (There is very little actual flu due to social distancing)

mrsbyers · 22/08/2020 16:11

We were never tested but that’s exactly my symptoms at the start , really awful headache and sudden onset of nausea even to the point where I woke up during the night and vomited without any warning
