is a MN user and will realise the thread is about them? Has this ever happened?

I once started a thread on this very subject.

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/08/2020 20:30

It has happened.

burritofan · 21/08/2020 20:32

Is this about me, OP?

CathyNorth · 21/08/2020 20:33

Yes I really worry about that!

CountFosco · 21/08/2020 20:34

Isn't this why Lemon Drizzle Cake is a classic thread?

Bagatelle1 · 21/08/2020 20:34

Yes, it happened to me!

Hingeandbracket · 21/08/2020 20:34

It happened to me with MSN groups way back in the day....Wanna talk about a Soap Opera

vodkaredbullgirl · 21/08/2020 20:35

Wasn't me I didn't do it Smile

That's why I never post a thread.

D4rwin · 21/08/2020 20:35

Probably want them to read it. I'd start one about my ex if I thought the git might see it. Seems improbable though.

I've seen it happen but not quite the person, involved 3rd parties appeared on thread - the OP had had her arse handed to her as well so it was removed for how outing it was.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 21/08/2020 20:37

I always tweak some insignificant details if I think it’d be possible to identify the people I’m talking about.

Haven't seen that one, will try and search for it.

My bitch of a mother outed me and my pregnancy on another forum, my child had died a few months before, she put specific details on, details of the area and the fact that I was pregnant.

The rumour mill in my small town went wild and everyone knew within a day.

I was fucking furious, had no privacy or time to get my head around it.

Then a couple of years later when I had another child she whined that I didn't tell her I was pregnant for months or about the birth for over a week. I humiliated her apparently 🤷‍♀️

Staffy1 · 21/08/2020 20:39

@Bagatelle1

Yes, it happened to me!
Were you the poster or the subject of the post and how did you handle it?
OP posts:
Staffy1 · 21/08/2020 20:41

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult, oh how horrible, no wonder you didn't tell her about your pregnancy Flowers

I need lemon drizzle cake, might need to get baking tomorrow
MsVestibule · 21/08/2020 20:46

God yes. I had a corker of a Christmas one a few years ago, very upsetting for me at the time, but it was exactly the type that The Mirror/Mail/Sun would pick up on during the slow news Christmas week.

It would have caused WW3 in my family, so thought better of it.

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 21/08/2020 20:46

I like to assume (before opening) that any ambiguously titled AIBU is about me. In which case the correct answer is probably that I am being unreasonable and the poster isn’t.

Sadly it’s never actually about me. But if it ever is, I’ll probably have done something remarkably annoying.

GameofChess · 21/08/2020 20:48

I was dying to post about a tittle-tattle text I received last week involving kids, but what stopped me was the mother/sender seeing it.
It’s a small world.

Lazysundayafternoons · 21/08/2020 21:01

Can anyone link to the lemon drizzle cake thread? Have tried searching and cant find it.

bellajay · 21/08/2020 21:09

I once realised that a post was by my aunt, about my mum. But I didn’t see it until a few years later. I remembered the incident it was about and agreed my mum was BU 😂

stayathomer · 21/08/2020 21:14

My first post, or one of them, was about my ils. I remember for days waiting for them to contact me about it!!
