Head recommending wearing masks in school

So DC has been back at school full time for a bit (Scotland). Secondary school. All pupils in and no masks. The Headteacher has now written to parents that it's not possible to socially distance, so he/she is recommending that pupils and teachers wear masks. Recommending, not requiring.

YABU - the Head was wrong to do that.

Don't be such a drama llama

How does saying that masks are completely different to ties make me a drama llama.

They are completely different.

ie the govt briefed the press then changed their mind.

I only caught 10 minutes of James O'Brien's radio show today, but he didn't mention anything about the erroneous press release in his monologue of U-turns either.

It's in various places on Twitter. Any number of journalists commented on it.

Here’s the TES ‘exclusive’ from yesterday afternoon saying that the DfE and PHE had signed off on it. Nothing about it being lockdown areas only, because the govt changed their minds later in the day,

You just aren’t following closely enough, Clav but it’s obvious to those who are that policy is just being invented on the hoof. Like the stupid ‘valid mock result’ thing.

Here’s the TES ‘exclusive’ from yesterday afternoon saying that the DfE and PHE had signed off on it. Nothing about it being lockdown areas only, because the govt changed their minds later in the day,

"The government is set to make a major U-turn by announcing that wearing face masks will be near-mandatory in communal areas of secondary schools, according to sources."

"Tes understands that both Public Health England and the Department for Education have signed off on this new policy."

"An announcement could come as soon as this afternoon, sources say."

Who are the mysterious "sources"? Where is the press release?

My dc are wearing masks all day at school, through PE in 30 degree etc.
While I understand why they are doing this it is nothing like wearing a tie ( unless you wear your tie in a very peculiar fashion)

Like the stupid ‘valid mock result’ thing.

DS1's classmates (who had missed their grades) liked the 'valid mock result' thing. They thought it was a good idea!

Good news - one of the muppets is off. Hopefully a few more.
