Ocado smart pass - how much should it cost?

Snog · 21/07/2020 11:45

In the pandemic it came out that Ocado had been charging different rates for their anytime smart pass to different customers.

I had been paying £10.99 which they spontaneously reduced a couple of months ago to £8.99. Am I still paying over the odds?

Before covid I was paying like £2.99 a month

Papyrus · 21/07/2020 12:34

I pay £1.49 for a midweek pass.

CeibaTree · 21/07/2020 12:40

I pay £2,99 per month for a mid week pass. Interesting that people pay different amounts, I thought it was a fixed price.

ChocoholicMama · 21/07/2020 12:45

Prior to Covid, I paid 1.99 for an anytime pass, which was offered at renewal (just before lockdown) at 3.99. I stupidly turned it down, then lockdown hit. I decided to eventually pay for a six month midweek pass at 6.99 (less because I paid upfront). Best thing to do with Ocado (pre Covid) is to let it lapse, stop buying for a few weeks, and you’ll miraculously be given a cheap offer to draw you back. That’s how I got the 1.99 deal, but they are my main shop so I spend a lot there.

Tobebythesea · 21/07/2020 12:49

Is that £8.99 a month?

PeonyRose80 · 21/07/2020 12:53

I was paying £2.99 pre Covid for anytime pass and have been for years, it was up for renewal during Covid and went up to £5.99 for anytime.... happy to pay it.

QuestionableMouse · 21/07/2020 12:54

9.99 per month for me. Which is ridiculous frankly.

My anytime pass is £3.99 a month, up from last year's £1.99 a month. Before that I either chose the free late evening slots or free three-month trials which were offered from time to time.

Tubbyinthehottub · 21/07/2020 13:08

I had an email recently saying mine was being reduced to £9.99 from £10.99 a month. That's for anytime.

30daysoflight · 21/07/2020 13:13

I pay £1.99 for anytime and have for the last eighteen months or so. Anytime they increase I cancel and they then offer £1.99 again. I think the highest price I have paid is £6.99 quite a few years ago.

MolotovMocktail · 21/07/2020 13:17

If you email them to cancel they will offer you a cheaper rate. I pay 6.99 a month for an anytime pass and got the first 3 months free. I’m in London, not sure if there are regional price differences.

Justanothernameonthepage · 21/07/2020 13:18

4.99 anytime a month. I thought it was a fixed price...

AnathemaPulsifer · 21/07/2020 13:19

£2.99 for anytime

Snog · 21/07/2020 13:27

I'm going to ask for a reduction!

StuntCroissant · 21/07/2020 13:37

I pay £109.99 for a year.

Snog · 23/07/2020 07:39

They refused to reduce my payments.
Maybe I should leave and go to waitrose.com instead.

same problem here. just been told my cost is going up from 1.99 to 8.99. over a 4x increase. seems to be recurring tactic from ocado as this tread is over a year old. perhaps the m&s deal is not proving to be as profitable as expected? I won't be paying that amount.

Chloemol · 20/08/2021 11:45

I paid 2.99 for a mid week pass which has just gone up to 3.99. Happy with that

Fuss · 20/08/2021 12:15

I pay £3.99 for a midweek, but it took a fight to get there.

Pre pandemic I paid £3.99 for a midweek, and then, weeks before the pandemic they cocked up and caused a fair bit of damage to my property. By way of an apology they gave me 6 months anytime pass for free, only when that came to an end in the middle of the pandemic they refused to let me return to my midweek pass and began to charge me £10 a month, despite the fact I have only ever had midweek deliveries even with their free anytime pass.

I argued repeatedly with them and eventually told them to cancel, I was off. I also then posted to their page with photos of the damage and a warning of how their 'compensation' might actually cost you money. Within the day I'd got a grovelling apology and a £3.99 midweek pass.

I keep the midweek as a back up but mostly try and get a Waitrose slot now. Ocado lost almost all my goodwill over this and other games they played through lockdown.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 20/08/2021 12:20

I was paying 3.99 a month and back in April they said they were putting it up to 8.99 which would be the same rate for everyone - but they also said they’d hold old rates for anything classed as CEV. This was me, so they agreed to honour my old price.
Except every month they charged me the higher rate. I’ve been chasing since April for a proper answer. Must have sent more than 30 emails and after chasing again earlier this week, they said guidance for the clinically vulnerable has changed so they won’t be honouring the old price now.
Frankly, they’ve been a shitshow for the last 18 months anyway and it’s definitely less appealing now they don’t offer waitrose products anymore.

Megan2018 · 20/08/2021 12:22

We pay £2.99 for Anytime.
I think it depends on your average spend.

PurpleFlower1983 · 20/08/2021 12:24

I gave up on Ocado during Lockdown 1.0, I’m back with Sainsbury’s now.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 20/08/2021 12:24

@Megan2018 that makes sense. I don’t order much these days because the fresh butchers and fish ‘counters’ have all but disappeared and the offers are nowhere near as good as they used to be.

Swarskid2184 · 20/08/2021 12:30

I pay £99.99 for a year. Based in Surrey. Going to cancel and go to Waitrose based on this thread!

Same here. When it was Waitrose we spent £1-200 a week. Now we rarely do more than £100 a month so not expecting our renewal to be good. But at £2.99 we don’t mind if we rarely use it
