I don't feel sorry for the transcriber of his speeches. I do wonder what they think when they are doing it. The transcripts are accurate, but when I read them a part of me expects them to be edited. Obvs they can't be as the original speech is out there for anyone to compare.

Let me guess... Brainiac Jared will be personally collating all the data...?

Trump Administration Strips C.D.C. of Control of Coronavirus Data.
www.nytimes.com/2020/07/14/us/politics/trump-cdc-coronavirus.html

The Trump administration has ordered hospitals to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and send all Covid-19 patient information to a central database in Washington beginning on Wednesday. The move has alarmed health experts who fear the data will be politicized or withheld from the public.

The new instructions were posted recently in a little-noticed document on the Department of Health and Human Services website. From now on, the department — not the C.D.C. — will collect daily reports about the patients that each hospital is treating, the number of available beds and ventilators, and other information vital to tracking the pandemic.

Officials say the change will streamline data gathering and assist the White House coronavirus task force in allocating scarce supplies like personal protective gear and remdesivir, the first drug shown to be effective against the virus. But the Health and Human Services database that will receive new information is not open to the public, which could affect the work of scores of researchers, modelers and health officials who rely on C.D.C. data to make projections and crucial decisions.

“Historically, C.D.C. has been the place where public health data has been sent, and this raises questions about not just access for researchers but access for reporters, access for the public to try to better understand what is happening with the outbreak," said Jen Kates, the director of global health and H.I.V. policy with the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

Wasn't China accused of lack of transparency?

So the Orange One is copying them?

A comparison of the polls in 2016 and 2020, and why Trump might be worried.

In 2016, Trump got very close to Clinton, and even above, at some points in time, and the election was one of those times, resulting in his win in the Electoral College.

This time, Biden is constantly ahead and at a fairly safe margin.
Of course things can change, or be manipulated, but I think it is good news.

If it were me, I would send the data to both places. Is there any reason not to?

The CDC should be the government's central database. Confused

AcrossthePond55 · 15/07/2020 14:41

The 'badmouthing' of Fauci continues with a disgusting OpEd by Peter Navarro. The Regime is laying the groundwork for discrediting then dismissing him.

What they don't realize is that Fauci has impeccable credentials and has never (unlike Scrotus) puffed himself up as the 'end all and be all'. He's always made quite sure to say that 'knowledge is always expanding' and that his advice might change based on new information.

If Fauci is dismissed I hope that Biden picks him up as an advisor.

AcrossthePond55 · 15/07/2020 14:51

If it were me, I would send the data to both places. Is there any reason not to?

Nope. Scrotus has no power to order private or state/county medical facilities to do anything. I suppose he may be able to order the heads of any federally run facilities like VA hospitals and federal prisons to bypass the CDC. And I guess he can order the CDC (via the director) not to publicize or release any information they do receive.

What I don't know is how federal funding of private/state/county institutions plays into this. They do get money via Medicare/Medcaid reimbursements and I suppose there may also be grant money. I don't know how/if he could cut that funding. I know he's threatened similar moves for schools and states but has never carried through.

When this goes into effect we shall shortly see either NO information or 'miraculous' drops in infection rates.

That is seriously worrying and is obviously open to data manipulation.

I'm guessing the covid graphs will look like this in late July and August thanks to this New and Improved data collection

Susan Collins will be challenged by Sara Gideon, after Sara won the Maine primary conclusively yesterday.

Sara's a strong candidate. She's been in the Maine government for a long time, Speaker of the Maine House, effective at fundraising, and good at her job. I voted for her.

Less notable, but in our town election yesterday, all the winners were Democrats.

I was talking to someone in another Maine town about their election yesterday, and 80% of the votes were cast by mail this time around.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 15/07/2020 15:56

Godspeed Sara Gideon!

'Tuberville boasts a profile not unlike that of Trump, the former reality television star turned politician.

Tuberville, 65, has never held public office but comes to the political arena with a well-known brand. He embraces Trump and sells himself as an outsider, a conservative culture warrior. Tuberville told his supporters that Jones threatens Alabama with “New York values.” The president, a New York native, wrote Tuesday night on Twitter that Tuberville would be a “GREAT senator.”'

Chris Wallace To Interview Donald Trump On Next ‘Fox News Sunday’
deadline.com/2020/07/donald-trump-chris-wallace-interview-1202986178/amp/

Donald Trump will sit-down for an interview with Chris Wallace, the host of Fox News Sunday who has been the target of the president’s attacks on Twitter.

Trump’s last interview for the show was on Nov. 18, 2018. The president’s last network Sunday show appearance was on Meet the Press in June, 2019.

Fox News said that the interview will take place at the White House and “will focus on recent civil unrest across the country, the current status of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, the 2020 election, including the latest surrounding the Republican National Convention, among other topics.”

Trump has attacked Wallace in some of his tweets, usually after one of Wallace’s tough interviews with an administration official or supporter. On April 26, Trump wrote, “Chris Wallace is nastier to Republicans than even Deface the Nation or Sleepy Eyes. The people who are watching @FoxNews, in record numbers (thank you President Trump), are angry. They want an alternative now. So do I!”

In an interview with Deadline, Wallace relayed his reaction after Trump called him “nasty” and “obnoxious” after his interview with Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) last November.

Wallace said, with a bit of humor, “After I did the Scalise interview… my oldest son called me up and he said, ‘Nasty? No. Obnoxious, well maybe.’”

He added, “I have been in the business a half century and I have been attacked by all sides. Generally speaking, I think it is an indication that you’re doing your job. I mean I’m not in this to make friends. I am in this to do the best reporting that I can do.”

Roussette · 15/07/2020 18:35

Ooooh need to see that!

Chris Wallace is the voice of reason on Fox isn't he? (I don't know this for fact, just that any footage I see of him, he seems to be)

This could be one to watch!

On another note... this first image was on the cover of the most influential magazine in Germany.... Der Spiegel.

The second is Danish newspaper Politiken

'Tuberville boasts a profile not unlike that of Trump, the former reality television star turned politician.

(but his fraud wasn't so spectacular: he was in it with someone else, and "Tuberville and Stroud co-managed a hedge fund that defrauded investors of $1.7 million". Peanuts, really.)

I know it's not a fair question to ask, but what happened to his first wife? There is the single sentence, "Tuberville married Vicki Lynn Harris, also from Camden, Arkansas (and a graduate of Harmony Grove High School), on December 19, 1976." and then nothing at all; the next we hear is that he married someone else in 1991. Nothing about Vicki Lynn having died or they were divorced, just nothing at all.

The Atlantic: There’s been some reporting that the Trump administration has tried to cut back on your TV interviews. Isn’t it important at this moment for the nation and the world to hear from you?

Fauci: I can’t make a comment on that, but I think you know what the answer to that is.

He really does think the rules don't apply to him.
