AIBU? Neighbours demanding money for McDonald’s

We live in quite a small but nice street, mainly detached with decent sized gardens. We have a whatsapp group that the whole street is on, barring one family LOL. But we won’t talk about them.

Anyway, DH is the one who reads the group most often and has now got into a massive fight with the neighbours over a group-buy of McDonalds food next week.

Ohhh @sofiaames so you can have firearms but not call people a cunt???? I’m obviously mistaken for what causes real harm 😂. Poor you!!

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:30

I live in West Los Angeles. You can't even think about having firearms here or call people cunts or micro-agress your fish.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 04/05/2020 04:37

micro-agress your fish. Wait what???

Thepigeonsarecoming · 04/05/2020 04:39

Is this some kind of nanotechnology way to make your pet goldfish aggressive???

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:47

We had koi spawning a few days ago and my teenagers were horrified....bunch of snowflakes that they are.

AIBU? Neighbours demanding money for McDonald’s
SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:49

The male koi (5 of them) were "stimulating" the release of koi eggs from the pregnant mamma koi....my snowflakes spent a day googling how to "protect" her.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 04/05/2020 04:51

I’m so confused, did you “micro-agress” then, what does “micro-agress” mean??

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:54

I was not the perpetrator. The male koi were committing micro (or macro) aggressions against the female koi.....or so the complaints were running in this stay at home household with an invisible dishwasher that can only be seen be those over the age of 25.

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:54

I haven't even started on the whiskey yet tonight. It's only 9pm.

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 04:55

Oh dear, we've hijacked a troll thread....we must really be bored.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 04/05/2020 05:08

I get now we’re talking rapey fish, but whats with the invisible dishwasher?

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 05:17

It's only invisible to the 4 members of the household ranging in age from 17 to 23. The single member of the household who is over that age (aka me) seems to be the only one who knows where the dishwasher is and how to use it.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 04/05/2020 05:40

Ok so rapey fish and lazy teenagers, probably doesn’t sound as elegant when I type it though!

SofiaAmes · 04/05/2020 05:56

Ha! That's just this week...so far we've had the cracked kitchen wasteline flooding under the house; a leaky toilet; a cracked screen on a brand new Macbook Pro the day after the Apple Stores closed and classes went online; the theft of ds' Blue Badge the night before the DMV (DVLA) offices closed; my tennis elbow which makes right arm useless (caused by the diy repair of the leaky toilet); an infected right eye (luckily managed to get optometrist to prescribe drops before she closed her office); 2 visits to the hospital for my DF......but I'm kind of having fun....making my way through this by taking writing classes and drinking sake and whiskey and having bacon for breakfast every morning.

Chuchyduck · 04/05/2020 06:26

I love McDonalds, it’s great and I’m slavering at the thought of ours reopening, even at 6am.

Getlostu · 04/05/2020 06:32

Hilarious thread and now I really want a Big Mac, large fries, apple pie and a Coke Zero or do I want a chocolate milkshake...hmmm...I think I might have to have a box of nuggets too.

Getlostu · 04/05/2020 06:34

I was really gutted to read they won’t be doing their breakfasts when they re-open :( why? Why would they do this to us. Everybody stuck homeschooling needs a McDonald’s breakfast treat! Come on McDonald’s! Breakfast please!!!! We need you....

Taddda · 04/05/2020 07:22

@Thepigeonsarecoming I'm thinking @SofiaAmes given you more than enough to start that book!!!? A trilogy right there! Shock....I'd title start with 'McDonalds, 'The renters' and the rapey fish'....

Taddda · 04/05/2020 07:39

but Cis a banned word in the USA.*

Is that because Trumps had it trademarked for his new official twitter account....?

BarbaraofSeville · 04/05/2020 07:57

I was really gutted to read they won’t be doing their breakfasts when they re-open sad why

It's OK, they've released the 'recipe' for sausage and egg McMuffins. Because apparently there are people unable to put together a muffin, some sausage, some plastic cheese and an egg without detailed instructions.

Taddda · 04/05/2020 10:22

Do they sell beaks and arse at Waitrose??

MitziK · 04/05/2020 12:48

@SofiaAmes Did you suggest protecting her from her own biological need to release her eggs by putting her in a cardboard box on the side of the pond? That would guarantee her virtue is unsullied.

I don't see why McMuffins are so difficult to make.

Buy muffins. Toast muffins.

Put bacon or sausagemeat (squished into a circle and fried) onto said muffin. Add a badly fried egg, ensuring that the yolk is broken and as dry as possible. Add a slice of cheese. Put top of muffin onto cheese. Wrap in greaseproof paper, leave to get cold on the countertop for 45 minutes, cook a hashbrown from the big bags you get from Iceland and serve the cold, congealed muffin with the hashbrown hotter than the surface of the sun and a shit cup of coffee.

Throw in a conversation where when they say they want a McMuffin, you ask them repeatedly if they want extra things, wander off and clean a blender, go and feed the cat who arrived in the kitchen after they did but just won't shut up and wait in the queue like everybody else, then tell them after standing in the kitchen for ten minutes that they should go and take a seat and you'll bring it to them in a minute.

Fifteen minutes later, dump the articles on a tray with a random piece of paper on it and no sugar for the coffee so they have to come back and wait ten minutes for you to hand it over to them, making sure that when they return to their seat with a single spoonful of sugar and a lolly stick, the muffin and coffee has been cleared away and the table is occupied by the cat eating its second meal off the tray.

Sorted.

mumwon · 04/05/2020 14:51

@SofiaAmes along with the invisible wash basket for putting dirty washing in or the invisible chest of drawers/wardrobe for putting said clean washing away or the impossibility to shut kitchen cupboards? (Mine have grown up & moved away but I remember this well Grin)
I use to say when things were normal way back in the past - the only way I knew dc were home was the disappearing food from the fridge & the increase in the washing Grin one day, dear friend, one day...

Dreeple · 04/05/2020 15:10

But is it rural?

ChristmasCarcass · 04/05/2020 18:21

YES it’s a detached house and YES it wasn’t far off seven figures

Oh dear, you wouldn’t get a three bed terrace for that around here. Houses must be very cheap where you live.

Maybe one day, if you stop wasting money on group McDonalds runs, you’ll be able to afford to live in a decent area. Grin
