Even if a situation like this people manage it...
Fb pics of children adoring homeschooling... craft in the garden... blah blah

Or people posting their fabulous schedule of yoga at 6 am followed by a light breakfast then a bit of work blah blah...

I'm just proud not to be drinking before 5!!

OP posts:
BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 23/03/2020 18:49

Ignore them then🤷🏻

Don’t be fooled. Anyone can say anything on the internet. Doesn't make it true.

Squirrelblanket · 23/03/2020 18:50

Well I did a morning workout, achieved loads for work, batch cooked some meals AND had a beer before five! Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/03/2020 18:51

Your social media streams should only bring you happiness or info. Anything you see that is doing the opposite should be blocked by you. Unfollow or "hide" posters so that you aren't left feeling bad by what you see.

I've hidden loads of FB friends and family as it's just not worth me getti g down or annoyed by their posts.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 23/03/2020 18:52

Oh god i knowwwwwww i just realised ive worn the same pair of PJs for 3 days straight, looked on Instagram and someone has designed and sewn themselves a whole new outfit. They look great. We've run out of tonic and im contemplating drinking straight gin.

Branleuse · 23/03/2020 18:56

posting their highlights is probably how they are coping. It doesnt mean their whole day is smooth. Im really not doing this very well either

sudocremanglaise · 23/03/2020 19:01

I don’t normally see this type of stuff as my social media is limited and work-focused, but now even I’m getting it - colleagues showing their PowerPoints, plans, Trellos etc for managing kids at home full time, and all the things they’re doing.

I appreciate this is a really weird and worrying time and I do also work in a very open, sharing culture (which I’m happy about!), and everyone is probably feeling a bit “How do we do this?! Let’s discuss!”. But it’s still a bit annoying Blush

My DCs haven’t fought today. DC1 has only had 2 bowls of cereal so far (he has had other food, just seems to think cereal is the food of champions Hmm). DC2 hasn’t thrown anything. DC3 is asleep. This is a resounding success.

I am surprised however by how many of my female colleagues have plans which show them balancing WFH and time with the DCs, and on those same plans it shows their DPs (the fathers) working a normal day Hmm

Jayaywhynot · 23/03/2020 19:02

I had 2 poached eggs, extra toast, twiglets and a box of cherry liqueurs all before 9am #winning Grin

IamAporcupine · 23/03/2020 19:03

^^This!!

Northernsoullover · 23/03/2020 19:05

My friend is performance quarantining! Her Facebook feed is full of arts, crafts and baking. In reality she is tearing her hair out bless her.
I'm in my pjs. I went on a bread hunt earlier so got dressed for that and when I got home at midday I showered and put my pyjamas on.

Halfeatentoast · 23/03/2020 19:05

I posted this on the style and beauty thread:

Well not to brag

I got up at 5am (forgot to turn off my alarm)
Went downstairs and did some stretches (dog had an accident in the kitchen so I stretched to clean it up)

I then had a light breakfast and speciality coffee (frosties and asda specially selected Italian blend instant coffee).

Then spent some time in the garden enjoying the outdoors and balancing myself for the day (was cleaning up dog shit in the garden)

Then did a bit of work (only managed a bit because I couldnt get dual screens working and the speakers ar inexplicably not working for microsoft teams).

Then DP brought me croquet monsieur for lunch, which we enjoyed on the patio while ds and the dog floricked around the garden (I made ds to outside and get some fresh air , becaus he looks downright pasty, while me and dp had a ham and cheese sandwich sat on 2 plastic chairs on the paved bit at the back of out terraced house. Ds had cheese on toast)

I then did some more work (actually got it working with the help of some well placed F words and the IT team).

Now I am relaxing in a luxurious bath that my dp loving ran me. (Dp usually has the house to himself during the day so has found it a bit full on having us here interrupting his routine, he ran me a bath because I burst into tears, terrified about corona, my job, my kids, my parents and , probably, because he wanted some time alone, without the background noise of me swearing at my laptop.

See op, depends on how you write it. My day was normal. But I could make it sound oh so much more glamorous.

The people I know who post shit like this forget we known them in RL and I would bet money, they are talking shit.

mbosnz · 23/03/2020 19:06

I was drinking at 4.59pm. . . so get you with your smuggery, lol. Grin Wine

CappyCapCap · 23/03/2020 19:07

Oh I did make shortbread yesterday.

It tasted shit. Would rather have a rich tea.

Kuponut · 23/03/2020 19:08

I was wondering if I could get away with claiming extenuating circumstances to open wine at about 11am today.

Trimalata · 23/03/2020 19:08

A friend of mine was smugly posting about not worrying, just pop the kids in the garden and they'll be fine. She moved to the country a year ago, and many/most of her friends still here in the city dont have bloody gardens!

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 23/03/2020 19:08

I totally agree!!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/03/2020 19:08

But the "haven't I done well not drinking" or "go me I haven't killed one of the kids today" type posts are equally as annoying Hmm

Ukholidaysaregreat · 23/03/2020 19:10

Half eaten toast!!! Hahaha! That is me!! Someoneelseentirely just drink the gin. Xxx

Samtsirch · 23/03/2020 19:10

I have eaten my body weight in chocolate, watched loads of rubbish day time telly, sworn at my partner under my breath several times whilst smiling, and am proud I didn’t have a drink before 2 pm!!!
( only the one, lol )

SudokuQueen · 23/03/2020 19:10

Is that all they did?

My day started off with an hours workout, followed by poached egg and salmon breakfast. Then I completed all of my work, plus other people's and saved the company from bankruptcy. Then I did some yoga, my children learnt a new language as well today, and I finished decorating my house.

Or you could just accept most people are lying? Grin

Igotthemheavyboobs · 23/03/2020 19:12

I have made a daily schedule to loosely stick too. This is to try and keep my mental health in check, is really basic stuff though like allocating myself a 'lunch hour' or making sure I get up and dressed each day, even if just bumming about the house.

Yabu to judge these people for finding the best way to cope in this situation. Don't compare yourself to social media posts, if you're insecure about this, maybe try adding some structure into the day, even if it is ensuring you have a cup of tea at 2pm every day.

mbosnz · 23/03/2020 19:13

I was wondering if I could get away with claiming extenuating circumstances to open wine at about 11am today.

My father always declared the sun was over the yard arm at 10.30am. If that failed, that it was over the yard arm 'somewhere'. . .

Healthyandhappy · 23/03/2020 19:13

Well. We got up at 7am walk at 8 in countryside then bk home kids work I did work from home shouting at 5 year old to do hers then donkeys at 1230 bk lunch then I'm working whilst getting 5 year old to do work tomorrow they can dig weeds out of garden and go on trampoline!!

Lynda07 · 23/03/2020 19:14

I have drunk a lot of apple juice today.

Earlier I gave someone a present of a bottle of washing up liquid well sanitised in an equally sanitised bag and put in a place sanitised hands.
