Even if a situation like this people manage it...
Fb pics of children adoring homeschooling... craft in the garden... blah blah

Or people posting their fabulous schedule of yoga at 6 am followed by a light breakfast then a bit of work blah blah...

I'm just proud not to be drinking before 5!!

OP posts:

How annoying. It won't last.

Take care @emkana Flowers

1forAll74 · 23/03/2020 19:59

I was 78 two days ago, live alone, three cats. I had a brand new tin of Dulux paint in my shed, so today, started to paint my bedroom walls. Trouble is, I don't like painting ceilings now, so will leave them be for now.

BeetrootRocks · 23/03/2020 20:00

We had this in the work chat!

No getting away from it...

HoldMyLobster · 23/03/2020 20:00

"Performance quarantining" - I love it.

My FB seems not to be doing it. It's still mostly people shouting at each other not to go outside, and stuff about how little they're achieving.

Whatdayisit2 · 23/03/2020 20:00

I've sort of just lost focus iuswim. Work seems., irrelevant. Kids schooling.. doing some but reality is it's too difficult. It's like I've run out of steam on day 1. Need to get a grip!

wacademia · 23/03/2020 20:03

GCAcademic, LisaSimpsonsbff

Yup, that's exactly what my lot are like. That and requesting purchases of tangible items when the buildings are locked shut and there's no one present to receive deliveries.

mintandcoral · 23/03/2020 20:04

@Sprinklez this description is so accurate I have suspicions that you are in fact an influencer Wink

I had all the best intentions, looked up activities on the 'busy toddler' online and over excitedly bought a few things from amazon (which I left in our porch for a day and then carefully sanitised Blush) to try to do lots of lovely educational play with my 17 month old... wooden scoops, pom poms and other things. Had v.clear montessori, grimms toys, Instagram yummy mummy vision in my head.

What happened was 80% of our living room carpet was covered in rice by 1pm (and I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to admit that we were playing with rice IRL or if that's now deeply frowned upon. I know the line is now firmly drawn at pasta but rice still seems like a gray area). The cat was completely thrilled by the pom poms and has now thrown half of them down the back of the sofa.

Day two I was going to make a 'pouring station'... Will let you know how that one goes Wine

I don't post on social media for precisely the reasons given in this thread about sounding smug. But fuck it, I'm going to describe today cos it is now our second full week on lockdown and actually we're getting into the swing of it. I have two kids and they are both getting a full lot of work from school sent through daily. We have done English, Maths and Danish everyday. Sometimes we even have to do art or history or science. Then the little darlings have instrument practise (their music teacher has arranged to dial in once a week to hear them play!). So today I was woken up at stupid O'clock by catboy. I had a nice coffee and a bowl of cereal and then woke up the monkeys. After breakfast of porridge (first child) and rye bread and pate (second child) and apple juice they brushed their teeth and hair and we set to work. Had a quick break at 9 am. More school work and then another break at 10 when the children ate their homemade ice creams (made yesterday with manky banana, frozen raspberries and Greek yoghurt and honey). More school work and then lunch at 11.30 of leftover ramen noodle soup from yesterday followed by crackers and cheese and pears. We watched a live stream from a zoo doing educational stuff online during the lock down - we saw the jaguars being fed. After lunch we went for a long walk to collect some fresh water from the local lake for our frogspawn project back at home. Then it was back home for instrument practice and then a shed load of TV. Dinner was homemade lentil and bacon soup and home made pita breads. That was a very good day and I even managed to work alongside them for some of the day. Other days it all goes to pot and they fight, refuse to do work and I get shouty. You can hate me, it's ok Grin

MovingBriskyOn · 23/03/2020 20:08

How can you watch Mallory towers? It's a book, isnt it? Enid blyton

crispysausagerolls · 23/03/2020 20:09

@MotherofKitties

In a very, very similar situation to you right except also have a toddler and a spaniel and due to move into what is still essentially a building site on Friday. I have literally no fucking idea what we do if BoJo locks down building sites and prevents all outside activity eg moving.

Current garden is on the river with 100000 stairs so my relaxing day was spent trying to keep my son from killing himself in the garden or listening to him scream because he wanted to go in the garden. I made chicken soup from scratch and cookies though so I could easily have posted a wanky post about it and pretended my day wasn’t the clusterfuck from hell it really was. Missed a trick there! 😁🤯

feellikeanalien · 23/03/2020 20:13

We had Forest School (cutting the grass), PE (DD kicking a ball at me while I cut the grass) and Technology (DD watched Max and Ruby on her tablet).

I have managed to put off creative story telling until tomorrow (have told DD it's too late to set up a Playmobil city - she very dolefully told me that I had broken a pinkie promise . I have been putting this fresh hell off for two days now.)

Poing · 23/03/2020 20:22

I really like being home with my littlies and quite enjoy the time not running around to appoinments and so on, but yesterday was horrid. Did not make it to 5 (pm) for the wine. Today was lovely. I had a good sleep, kids played nicely and did set school-work, I set firm but positive boundaries and we all ate and exercised well.

I think that there are going to be good days and bad ones, and the bad ones seem to be influenced by my anxiety/stress. Keep going, everyone!

mummagirl · 23/03/2020 20:27

We had problem solving (the hell that is monopoly), diary writing (5words), silent reading (times to the second)
But honestly Joe Wicks was THE best

Whydoesit · 23/03/2020 20:28

My Instagram and Facebook are full of people doing #socialdistancing by going to the park / beach / wood / horse riding. It’s a competition seemingly of who can do the most outdoors (more than they seem to do normally).

KitKat1985 · 23/03/2020 20:29

Our DD1's reception teacher e-mailed us all this morning with a copy of a timetable she has received from a parent, which I think she thought we may find helpful. It included such delights as 'cosmic yoga' (WTF?) at 9am, as well as maths, phonics, and science time; all fitted in before lunch. Bear in mind this is for 4/5 year olds.

I'm just trying to keep the kids fucking quiet enough so I can get some work done. My schedule revolves heavily around Blippi and Peppa pig, with a bit of 'Numberblocks' thrown in for a vaguely education televisual balance; with throwing the odd snack at them and trying to get them to bugger off into the garden for some fresh air for half an hour each day to appease my guilt.

Whydoesit · 23/03/2020 20:30

But honestly Joe Wicks was THE best

He talked a LOT though didn’t he?

BuzzingtheBee · 23/03/2020 20:30

Its early days... plus its social media🤷‍♀️

ThanosSavedMe · 23/03/2020 20:33

donquixotedelamancha · 23/03/2020 20:35

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 23/03/2020 20:39

I've been super mum today , not that I've told anyone. I've done quite a bit but I'm exhausted. Back to normal mum tomorrow, and lazy mum Wed,Thurs,Fri because I've done so much today. Grin There's a method to my madness.

Chipsahoy · 23/03/2020 20:41

My fb posts are like this. By sharing the positives of the day, it helps me see them. My life was one shit show and now it's amazing.. Hard work living present though sometimes after lots of trauma, so posting about what's going on and all the wonderful stuff, it helps me feel grounded. I don't do it to boast or show off.
Dont take these things so personally, they are about the poster not the reader.
