Do you flush before or after..

...you've pulled up your trousers and sorted yourself out? I was in the queue for the ladies today and possibly because I was desperate for a wee, I was overly invested in counting down the time untill my turn. So the next person flushes and I think fab, but then the woman clearly hadn't sorted herself out yet so took a little while longer by which time the cubicle next to her became free (thank goodness)

So it got me thinking, do you flush before you've pulled everything up, or after?

Yabu= flush before
Yanbu= flush after

Flush first, let the tank fill back up for the next person.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 14/02/2020 17:41

i flush early in public facilities in case a reflush is required...but I am one of those who takes off coats and puts them back on when done. :o

NothingIsGoing2GetBetterItsNot · 14/02/2020 17:44

Was just about to say flush after bit then realized based on other people's responses i think it would depend what I'd, erm, deposited in the bowl...! Grin

foxychox · 14/02/2020 17:44

Prefer to be heading out of the cubicle when its flushing...

Efeble1 · 14/02/2020 17:45

I do both!

MirandaWest · 14/02/2020 17:45

I can’t remember Blush

Jollitwiglet · 14/02/2020 17:46

I normally flush after, but have the occasional surprise wedgie that may need re adjusting before exiting (normally when I'm trying to rush)

IamRhubarbBikini · 14/02/2020 17:47

Ha I was literally thinking about this the other day and wondering what others do. I flush, then sort myself out.

headlicehelp · 14/02/2020 17:47

I can't say I've ever thought about it. Probably after sorting myself.

Alpacathebag · 14/02/2020 17:47

Always after, just because who wants to stand there with their pants round the ankles whilst you flush?

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 14/02/2020 17:47

Flush after because I’m scared of the flush and need to run away the second I’ve done it Blush

Bagofoldbones · 14/02/2020 17:54

Sort myself out, flush as I’m leaving. Sometimes my no.2 doesn’t flush so I don’t want to be stood in there ages reflushing causing a scene and it still doesn’t go down then I’ve got to awkwardly come out to faces looking at me like ‘wtf?’ and then them going in an purposely looking in the toilet —and possibly see it still floating—

I flush before, because I want to wash my hands before touching my clean clothes with flush handle hands.

OhLook · 14/02/2020 17:57

Unless the taps are outside the cubicle obviously!!

MeltingSugs · 14/02/2020 18:03

Sort myself out! Most toilets I use are not ones you wave your hand in front of, and I can't bear touching the flush and then my clothes. Yuck yuck yuck. I do have OCD and contamination is an issue for me though.

Gatehouse77 · 14/02/2020 18:07

I was thinking about this the other day. I do both I realised depending on where I am.
Public loos I tend to flush after, I discovered!

It got me thinking that either way anything you feel the need to wash off after going to the toilet has already had contact with your clothes and the toilet door handle. I have to wash my hands after and even in the scuzziest of places I'd at least splash water over them.

lilyheather1 · 14/02/2020 18:14

See I flush after in public toilets, but probably vary at home!

I flush after. That way you’re not raising the hopes of waiting ladies and then making them wait.

katewhinesalot · 14/02/2020 18:17

Flush after. I don't want to touch my clothes with germy hands either.

Delbelleber · 14/02/2020 18:18

I have no idea what I do Hmm

Alsohuman · 14/02/2020 18:20

I just want to know what the fuck women do in there? I go, sort myself out and flush in about two minutes. Job done. It’s a joy at Twickenham, rugby women are all like me, there are never any queues.

Kanga83 · 14/02/2020 18:22

I flush after I've got myself ready including coat and bag so I don't touch my clothes with germs off the handle, then straight to scrub my hands.

Hurricane10 · 14/02/2020 18:30

one of my pet hates is people who "flush & run". They're the same people who then use the basin furthest from the cubicle they were in, in the vain hope that the next person won't realise it was them that left the massive jobby. I always check that my "ahem" leavings have actually gone before I exit. So I sort myself out while it's Flushing.

For those who don't like to touch your clothes after touching the handle, you've just wiped your fud/arse so there's probably piss or shit on your hands anyway, that's why we wash our hands after.

veryvery · 14/02/2020 18:35

Don't know but the 90s were awful when bodysuits were in fashion. The poppers were impossible! Took ages to fasten and loads of people wore them.

headlicehelp · 14/02/2020 18:43

@Alsohuman well if you really want details....
The last time I took a long time in the bathroom (a few weeks ago) is because my period was very bad (a regular occurrence) and I had soaked through my tampon, pad, pants and tights.
