PayPal help please

I've bought an item and paid £320 via PayPal.

It's currently in transit (Hermes tracking shows it in transit) but the seller has asked me to mark it as delivered so that the funds will be released to him as they're currently on hold.

I said I'm happy to do it as soon as it's delivered, but the seller wants me to do it now.

Would there be any implications if I do as he's asking?

I know new buyers on eBay aren't allowed until the item is delivered and they've got positive feedback, but that isn't really your problem. I wouldn't do anything until you have it - there's a reason they have these policies in place!

He’s sent something to you, who’s saying it’s the actual item? It could be a bag of sugar that your about to sign for!

And if it is the correct item and it goes missing then you can say goodbye to your money

You don’t know if it’s definitely what you ordered, you don’t know if they’ve given Hermes the correct address, you don’t know if they’ve got some kind of scam going.

You haven’t received it so you can’t say you have plain n simple. You’d void any back up if it doesn’t come/isn’t what it was meant to be etc.

Should only be a day or two with Hermes so I’m sure they can wait.

I've been had like this.
Tracking says its arrived, so the phone I bought has arrived, despite the fact that it didn't. I couldn't get a refund and
paypal were not interested

DO NOT. Just don't communicate with them until it arrives. Be ready to put in a ''didn't arrive" case with Paypal/whoever.

A seller messaged me recently asking me to release funds, I wasn't holding them!
I use paypal/ebay all the time and had never known this before so asked paypal, they said it was because she was a new user to paypal. Nothing to do with me. I told her that and to speak to paypal.
