My dd starts her mocks tomorrow. She's 15. She's into rap, but into pot and everything really.

Do you know of an inspirational song that I might send her?

I can only think of The Eye of the Tiger or You're Simply The Best but I realise I'm a few decades out of date being her mother!

I just want to try to say best of luck - no pressure in a language she'll understand - musically and lyrically?

My teens love songs from the 80s - they have to pick house songs to sing at the end of the year and it's always songs like 'We are the Champions' by Queen. So the ones you've chosen are fine!

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:17

Christ now I'm wondering if the God's are telling me she's into pot lol

Ye, that's cool, things come around in fashion again! not when your mother sends it to you though

That Eminem one “Lose yourself” or Noisettes “Don’t give up”?

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:25

She has music and Maths Paper 1 tomorrow.

Jesus - I had a nightmare about a week ago that I was doing my exams again and hadn't prepared. The terror!

Gah! Thankfully, she sleeps like a log so she won't be awake all night worrying. She's so different to me (thankfully). Nothing fazes her really. But I know her friends are all high achievers and she is a little competitive too.

God. Just wake me up when she's happily married with children or something!

In fairness, I have never written a post about her on here. I'm allowed one?

Thanks weaselwords Will listen to them now!

Of course you're allowed to ask advice on your dd, it's lovely you are thinking of doing this for her!
I'm an old gimmer, I only know you're song choices😁
I think she'll appreciate her mum doing this, don't worry if you send her an old song, it'll be more authentic she'll know if you send her something up to date it won't be your choice 😂

ssd · 09/02/2020 09:31

I was worried about the pot though!! Grin

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:34

This is what I will save for after her mocks! It's sort of for the real deal. Grazie tanto! Or Thanks a million.

I think she would suggest I had my own head examined if I sent her the Noisettes one!

Maybe Don't throw away my shot from Hamilton

Cookit · 09/02/2020 09:38

I totally thought from the first message that your daughter had exams but was just into pot and you were worried!

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:38

I think I'll go retro on her and send her Eye of the Tiger lol.

Where is Stormzy when you need him! She's into that sort of stuff. (Well, worse actually).

My son listens to a lot of Panic at the disco, High Hopes is a good motivational song.

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:39

Yes, an unfortunate typo Cookit.
She doesn't smoke. I smoke and she hates smoking so I sure as hell hope she ain't smoking pot!

You see this is the trial run, so it's not her one shot. I just want her to go in fighting?

I do this ahead of interviews! Listen to You're simply the best!

Although I’m not your daughters age any more, I would absolutely cringe if one of my parents did this! Can’t you just say good luck? Leave her a little note to see as she walks out of the door? Send a text?

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:45

Well relaxed, but knows I've got her ass. A kind of 'you've got this' vibe. Jesus I'm sounding older the more I type.

Jeepers, I think something has just blown into my window right now!

My niece recently shared this on Facebook with a shoutout to anyone getting ready for exams, she’s the same age.

I’m not sure it’s quite what you’re looking for though Wink

Pot Grin

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:47

She cringes at everything I send her unless it has an Apple logo on it haha........

OP posts:
Smileyaxolotl1 · 09/02/2020 09:50

I second ‘High hopes’

NothingWrong · 09/02/2020 09:58

Wow Natyo. That's brilliant. But, as her mother I do want her to achieve academically, because I didn't and it has stumped my ability to progress. I think I'll save that for if she does shit.

Thanks very much for sharing.

I'm sure they're all sharing similar stuff between themselves. Parents? The bane of their lives.....

I just want to give her a Mammy vote of confidence. Probably best to stick with my own era.
