Looking to book a break for me,DH and two children (7 and 5) over/during this years Oct break. We are already doing a Parkdean holiday in June so not wanting to repeat that. Everywhere I’m looking is either freezing in Oct or £2,000+!!
Please tell me where all you clever people are holidaying this Oct? Happy to stay in the UK or go further I just need ideas!

Greece? We have friends who go to Greece every October. They say it is warm and sunny but not hot. Warm enough to go walking in shorts and eat outside .

FuzzyAtmosphere · 04/02/2020 22:41

Canary Islands will still be warm in October and are cheap.

fairgroundsnack · 04/02/2020 22:41

We went to Greece last October - it was great!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/02/2020 22:44

A few years ago we went to Southern Italy in November. The weather was warm enough for shorts and t shirts during the day and then cardigan/ jumper and long trousers during the evening. I imagine anywhere in the Med on a similar latitude will be warm in October half term.

We're hoping to go to Tenerife in October, but doubt we'll get flights and accommodation for less than £2k.

We used to go right down to the south coast of Spain - Malaga way. It's usually in the low 20s.

2stepsonthewater · 04/02/2020 22:46

We had a fantastic holiday in Tenerife (Canaries) one October. Pleasant climate, warm enough to swim outdoors but not super hot. Also there's a lot to do there, more than just beaches (volcano to go up, boat trips to see whales/dolphins, fantastic water park with no queues as it's out of season - Siam Park).

South Africa

We went to La Palma in October '18. It was absolutely scorching. It would probably be over £2k if you went in the half term break though

Bunnybigears · 04/02/2020 22:48

Turkey, Canary Islands, Greece, Cyprus even Majorca will be a pleasant temperature if you're not bothered about using the pools.

ActualHornist · 04/02/2020 22:48

We went to Cyprus October half term in 2018. It was lovely. The unheated pool was chilly but not so bad we couldn't use it!

BillieEilish · 04/02/2020 22:49

Southern Spain will be hot then. It's 27 today!

Lyricallie · 04/02/2020 22:49

Florida! That's where my parents used to take me when I was wee but we got 2 weeks school holidays I think some schools only get a week. Although probably not less than 2k if you're taking a whole family. Although we can do it cheap for just the two of us (now that I'm a grown up and have to pay for myself Sad)

Serin · 04/02/2020 22:50

We used to go to Cornwall at the Oct half term. Few people and still surprisingly warm.

Poetryinaction · 04/02/2020 22:51

Wales.

We've been to Malaga in October and it was nice weather. The swimming pool was cold but the kids braved it! We got flights for £800 for four of us. We stayed in a friends apartment but I know you can get cheap accommodation there. Seville was very hot in October too.

We also once went to Sorrento in October. Weather was lovely and it's a good base for visiting Vesuvius and Pompeii. That was £2500 but we splurged on a family suite in a nice hotel so we could have done it cheaper.

If hot weather not a must then the other place we enjoyed in October was Berlin. Cheap flight and accommodation and lots to see and do. We had a great week there. They have family friendly hotels - we stayed in a huge suite in an aparthotel that had an indoor pool and it was really good value.

Meant to say I have looked at all Canaries etc but all coming out well over £2000 plus. A few years ago we got a similar holiday for just over £1000 Confused

The Med is warm rather than hot, but the weather can be unpredictable at that time of year. Most of the rain it gets tends to be in autumn.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 04/02/2020 22:54

Canaries. Lovely and warm then. We are going !

InABigCountry · 04/02/2020 22:54

I've been to Greek Islands twice in October, weather is mainly good, not roasting. It's cheaper to fly from England in the Scottish school holidays and have seen English people come up to fly from Scotland during their school holidays. Can save a lot of money depending where you are.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 04/02/2020 22:55

Problem with Easter and October is only place guaranteed beach sun is the canaries hence the higher price. Worth it IMO. We've got £2.5k all inclusive that week.

Scbchl · 04/02/2020 22:57

Check out a fb page called michelle rodde at hays travel we have booked a holiday through her for July and I cant believe how much cheaper it was than what I was procing up. Saved about 1k.

Fiveletters · 04/02/2020 22:57

We went to Corfu a few years ago and it was lovely ☀️

DappledThings · 04/02/2020 22:58

I've been to Cyprus and Malta in October and it's been lovely
