@cheeseisascheesedoes that figure has been debunked. I think that humans damage the environment. Human activity affecting climate change is unknown in terms of the extent. Apparently 50% of emissions come from six countries who have little intention to stop so if Europe and the US went carbon neutral tomorrow would that make a huge difference?

More seriously, way back, scientists had a theory about how the extra CO2 humans were putting into the atmosphere was causing it to heat up. If they were correct they would see not just the planet heating up over the coming decades (as we have) but more complicated predictions about the atmosphere (also found to be true). No other theory works. This one has been tested and tested over decades. Now Australia is on fire and some people are still shrugging their shoulders and saying “we don’t really know if it’s us burning fossil fuels”

lets consider: The orbit of the planet hasn't changed significantly nor has any other outside factor that would cause global warming
However
Until a few centuries ago this planet was covered in forest breathing in co2 & exhaling oxygen locking in carbon along with a clean ocean.
Than came industrial revolution & massive human population explosion & agricultural revolution & massive increase in animal farming (all exhaling co2 or co & using oxygen)
Massive cutting down of tree until they are a fraction of what they use to be & polluting the ocean & killing life there & interfering with ocean temperatures &the ocean sink.
Of course we cant of caused the massive increase in world temperature - & by increasing industry & ignoring what is happening is a good idea

Trump is a disinformation agent working for the Russian govt (whether he meant to be or not). The conspiracy theories against Climate change and saying that Ukraine (not Russia) are interfering with elections in western democracies are all part of the Russian disinformation campaign.

@mumwon I am not disagreeing with your timeline but the earth has only experienced an approximate 0.5 increase. Hardly a lot. Also how does it explain the rise in temperature during the medieval period? Pollution damage is real and we can see it but climate change is unknown. In the 70’s the scientific community were apparently unified that we were heading into an ice age! If all predictions are true then what is the point in us doing anything. We’re doomed and the biggest polluters are uninterested. I am suspicious of the debate because there is a lot of aggression and shutting down of questions.
