Have been on the go.

It occurred to me at about 6pm, whilst cooking dinner for me and DC that I hadn’t stopped since my alarm went off at 6am. And that I still had bedtime and a hour or so’s work to do.

It’s not a complaint - more a slightly shocked observation. Particularly as that’s the norm M-F.....

Alarm goes off at 5am, cooked dinner at about 5.30pm, settled down on sofa at about 6pm.

Tuesdays are the worst due to long shift and DDs club. Leave the house at 6.15am and we get home at 6.45pm.

Singlebutmarried · 13/01/2020 21:24

Typical day up at half six, potter doing the dishwasher and washing machine.

Get child out of the door for school, go to work, back in time for pick up. Quick turnaround before swimming/horse/gym (child not me) the help with horse if needed. Back home dinner, walk the dogs, clear up.

Sort more washing. Revise for exams (me not child) short bedtime and then maybe sit down by nine.

Pretty much on the go for 14 hours on a weekday. Up at 6am, get ready, get DS ready, breakfast, take DS to school, go to work, work, leave work and straight to school to get DS, home, play with DS for a bit, cook tea, do a bit of housework, then do spellings/reading with DS before bedtime routine.

I only work Monday to Thursday though so Fridays are more relaxed.

InkogKneeToe · 13/01/2020 21:25

If my husband gets up with DC, about 7am-1am. If I get up then 5am ish until 1am. Hooray for working twilight's Confused

RedSheep73 · 13/01/2020 21:25

I suppose that's normal, but I struggle with that much time on the go. It is much easier now my kids are older, I get to sit down with a cup of tea and have a break after work.

Sirzy · 13/01/2020 21:25

I woke up at 4, just got into bed now. Been pretty much on the go with one thing or another all day

megletthesecond · 13/01/2020 21:27

Up at 6:30. Stopped around 20:30 but just been sorting out the dc's and getting them into bed.

SmileEachDay · 13/01/2020 21:28

It’s really bonkers.

All of us, hurrying around for ALL THE HOURS.

orangejuicer · 13/01/2020 21:28

Up since 5.30 with DS, had about an hour sat down at 10 while he and DP were napping, been on the go ever since. Sat down for tea at 7.30, going to bed in about half an hour. Not that bad really but full day (off).

orangejuicer · 13/01/2020 21:29

smile but there aren't enough hours! Grin

midnightmisssuki · 13/01/2020 21:29

up at 7am, get to sit about 8pm. Will do some housework in a bit.

SmileEachDay · 13/01/2020 21:31

There aren’t orange.

Although I think if someone gave me more hours, I’d like them to be not so full of doing stuff.

Alarm goes at 6.50am, am either out the door by 7.30am or 8am depending on if I have to drop off at breakfast club that week.

I'm in school until around 4.45pm, and I usually work another hour in the evening.

I probably get a good hour/hour and a half of time to chill in the evenings.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 13/01/2020 21:35

Up at 5am. Finally sit down after work etc about 8pm. Stay up til midnight watching tv usually as life's too short to sleep.

Doremisofarsogood · 13/01/2020 21:38

Depends on the day. Mondays my alarm goes off at 5.50am, in the gym for spin class at 6.30. Home for 7.10, get myself and Dd ready, and depending on whether he's there, shout at stepson several times to get out of bed, take DD to school. Her bell rings at 8.50, 8 race to work as meant to be in by 9am (am always late). Work in education so on the go all day till 2.45 then race home, pick up DD, home for snack and change then drop her at club for 4.30. Home again, dinner and change for me and back out to evening job at 6pm.home by 10. 15, usually go to bed soonish as knackered! That's our busiest day though, others aren't so rushed but am still on the go I would say easily from 6am to 8 or 9pm.

Almostfifty · 13/01/2020 21:39

I was like that when my DC were small, I was up with whichever one woke first, usually about five, then wouldn't sit down till at least nine at night.

I now manage a wee sit down after dinner, and they've all left home. Still quite busy! Grin

grandmasterstitch · 13/01/2020 21:41

Pre kids my Tuesday was mad. Work from 7.20am to 6.30pm. Then shove food in and run a special needs group from 7-9. I absolutely couldn't do it now!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/01/2020 21:41

Consistently on the ago 1.5 hours,I'm a midday supervisor in a primary school. The rest of the day is in fits and spurts, housework, cooking dinner etc

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/01/2020 21:42

go not ago

Autumnnightsaredrawingin · 13/01/2020 21:45

Up at around 6.30, get myself/kids ready for work and school, work is not office based and a lot of it active, half hr lunch break at work, home in time for kids finishing school, cook dinner for them, do jobs etc. Bath youngest, put him to bed sometimes, sometimes husband does. Work 5 days. So normally ‘on the go’ from 6.30-7.30/8.00 most days BUT I do sit down for a short while after school before making dinner and get some downtime at weekends.

bridgetreilly · 13/01/2020 21:47

Today is my very long day, so from about 8am and I've just got in from work and sat down 10 minutes ago. 13.5 hours. Most days are not like that, though.

Whatdayisit2 · 13/01/2020 21:49

Up at 630, kids to school, work 9-5, home for 6, after school clubs til 7ish then emails, washing, bedtime, cleaning, prep for next day, bed. I wonder why I'm tired!

Tinnedpeachesandcream · 13/01/2020 21:49

Today I woke up at 5.30, did breakfast club drop off, arrived at work for meeting, taught all lessons and had a break duty and rehearsals at lunchtime. Came home, sat down whilst DH cooked dinner, then we all ate together. I tidied up kitchen, made breakfasts and packed lunches for tomorrow, supervised trumpet lesson, bath time/tooth brushing. Got into pjs at 8pm, finally came downstairs after last story read/Calpol administered and watched a bit of telly at 9pm. Tomorrow I’m doing the same again except I have parents’ evening until 7.30pm as well wahoo

Sux2buthen · 13/01/2020 21:49

I've just sat down, been up since about 6. Baby asleep next to me and she will be up 3 or 4 times in the night.
School runs, appointments, work, homework....no wonder everybody is knackered

LyndaLaHughes · 13/01/2020 22:07

Today I was up at 6am , kids dropped at breakfast club at 7.45 and into work at 8. Worked solidly through lunch as per usual. Left work at 4.45 with a bag of marking to bring home. Picked up kids at 5 then home and dinner. Next spelling, reading, homework etc. Then made packed lunch for eldest, put on washing and all kids to bed, put away yesterday's washing and laid out uniforms for the morning. Spent an hour and a half doing school work and then into bed to relax watching iPad at 9.30pm.
