Sneaking suspicion that Gregg's have done it again!

OK,first world problem,I admit. But has anyone noticed that their local Gregg's haven't had any vegetable bakes over the last week? Since the introduction of the new vegan steak bake on the 2nd of January,my local branch has not had any (vegetable bakes, that is). Whether the two are connected or it's just coincidence,I don't know. The same thing happened when they brought out their vegan sausage roll some months back. The vegetable bake disappeared for a few months, reappearing again about 4 months later. Now the same thing has happened again. I keep being told that 'they weren't sent any in the delivery' when I asked if they'd stopped doing them. But I was told the same thing regarding it's disappearance when the vegan sausage roll appeared. Has anyone else experienced this?

I think veggie options are vanishing everywhere. I’m a happy vege and don’t want to be a vegan!

jomaIone · 08/01/2020 20:10

None in my county either. I'm in North Scotland tho. None to the north, east or west of my house. One to the south approx 45 miles away! Never seen a vegetable bake tho, lived in Glasgow for 20 years and had a lot of Gregg's

PickAChew · 08/01/2020 20:14

They seem to be variable in their supplies. DS1 will only eat their tuna and cucumber sandwiches - either stottie or sliced bread. Sometimes they can go over a week without there being any in the branch near my house. They'll have tuna crunch, but not tuna and cucumber.

Baconrollandalattee · 08/01/2020 20:21

I had an email saying I had been mentioned in a post. I'm still around. As far as I know the vegetable bake hasn't gone for good, it will be back. I'm very pleased about the bonus we will all get soon. It's nice to be recognised for our hard work.

boatyardblues · 08/01/2020 20:28

Saltash is barely in Cornwall anyway. They probably opened it by mistake, thinking it was in Devon, and had to rethink sharpish.

ineedto · 08/01/2020 20:28

@jomalone no Greggs is one thing, but tell me you have a Jo Malone boutique?!?

My town (Scottish seaside) has four Greggs. Just said to DH how that's ridiculous and he trumped me by saying he passed seven en route to his work in nearest city Blush.

Mummadeeze · 08/01/2020 20:33

Is the vegan steak bake nice? Also, v annoying that they don’t do any vegan cakes!!!

Baconrollandalattee · 08/01/2020 20:46

We haven't had the vegan steak bake yet in our shop, it's coming next week. I'm looking forward to trying it. We do new glazed donuts that are vegan that I have tried and they're really nice.

FamilyOfAliens · 08/01/2020 20:49

I’m not a massive fan of the cheese and onion

You take that right back!

I love the cheese and onion bakes so much that as well as buying them fro Greggs, I buy a pack of two frozen ones from Iceland Blush

FREEM · 08/01/2020 20:50

my veggie teenager loves these and I got some today from Iceland.. bake your own but greggs product.

happycamper11 · 08/01/2020 20:53

Thinking about it I've never seen a vegetable bake in Greggs in a long long time. And do go there on a semi regular basis and can never decide what i want so I do look

Me too! Angry

ThanksForAllTheFish · 08/01/2020 20:58

No veggie bakes here since they introduced the vegan sausage roll last year. Quorn makes me break out in a rash on my forehead and makes my tongue and throat feel itchy and tingly so I can’t eat it. Both the vegan steak bake and sausage roll are made with quorn so my options as a vegetarian are now cheese and onion bake or the cheese pizza slice thing that takes like it’s been dipped in sugar.

Jensonacklespenlid · 08/01/2020 21:03

@baconrollandalattee what have they done to the pink jammie the pink icing is horrible now 😭

Baconrollandalattee · 08/01/2020 21:44

The pink jammie and sugar strand donuts have had the icing changed I'm not sure why.

velocitygirl7 · 08/01/2020 22:01

Avoid! Greggs are very fond of palm oil Sad

Pokkadots · 08/01/2020 22:15

Mine still has vegetable bakes.

Bluerussian · 09/01/2020 00:18

From Gregg's FAQs:

Do you use Palm Oil?
Answer:
When we do, we only ever use 100% sustainable Palm Oil ingredients in our food and drinks.

They also never use hydrogenated fat.

schoolcats · 09/01/2020 00:20

We don't have a Greggs, I've never actually been in one.

TeeniefaeTinseltoon · 09/01/2020 00:45

I have never been to Greggs and just checked and there isn't one in my county either (NE Scotland). I get heartburn just thinking of eating a sausage roll though 😁

Cautionsharpblade · 09/01/2020 00:53

@Mummadeeze the Belgian bun is vegan

SleepingStandingUp · 09/01/2020 00:53

Which counties are Greggless????
I was amazed how few GREGGS branches there actually are as we have so many by us I assumed there must be 1000's across the country.

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/01/2020 01:00

I love the cheese savoury softies.
My absolute favourite is ham and Pease pudding stottie but you can only get them in the North East and I live near Glasgow now.
I've read good reports of the vegan steak bake, (I follow a few food blogs).
Im highly intolerant to quorn though so would never try it.

Broken2020 · 09/01/2020 01:02

I wish Costa would release a bean & cheese melt - no sausage!!

They seem to think all veggies want is either a Vegan option (Nope, I love dairy!!) or to eat just vegetables 😕

ChessIsASport · 09/01/2020 01:12

I’m vegetarian but I feel like the world is trying to force me to be vegan. My local bakery has even changed its cheese and onion pasties to vegan ‘cheeze’ and onion pasties. They taste like PVA glue. I can’t wait for this fad to fade away.
