Boring hoover question

Aibu to ask for recommendations for a hoover that actually bloody works!
Everyone I’ve had so far has lost suction after a few months and is basically useless on carpet. 2 long haired girls and a cat means we get quite hairy carpets. I’ve had the vax pet, the vax cordless, Russel Hobbs, Hetty and a Dyson cordless. My carpets are making me feel sick. Please help!

Sebo. Best vacuum I’ve ever owned. Was recommended to me in JL as that’s what their cleaners use. The tools are permanently attached so are quick and easy to use. They use bags so you need to buy them periodically but honestly they’re the best vacuums ever. I used to be a dyson fan (or a fan of dyson!!) but had a poorly built one once that was nothing but trouble. Switched to Sebo and I’ve loved them ever since.

Miele. Mine is an older model though so not sure what the newer ones are like.

Shmithecat2 · 02/01/2020 23:48

Shark

1Morewineplease · 02/01/2020 23:52

Had a Shark ( daughter and I have long hair, plus a golden retriever) and we dumped it after about a month.
Now have a Miele . It’s hard work as the suction is very strong ( great for bingo wings!) but does the trick.
Sebo is also great but didn’t get near the skirting boards.
Will never touch Dyson again due to having to endlessly having to partially dismantle the head and clean it, before we’d get help from HQ.
Didn’t want to keep bothering HQ to be honest.

Miele

CallmeAngelina · 02/01/2020 23:55

Sebo. 1000 times.

princessbananahammock252 · 02/01/2020 23:56

Miele C3!!

MonstranceClock · 02/01/2020 23:59

Thankyou! This actually reminds me that my friend has a Miele and it’s amazing. Think I will go for one of those. The shark has really bad reviews so I’m avoiding that one. I will look at the sebo as well.

Miele cat and dog

Tinkletwat · 03/01/2020 00:07

Sebo, I have the pet one. Unlike the previous poster I have no trouble with it getting to our skirting. Sometimes you can try them out in John Lewis.

PurpleFlower1983 · 03/01/2020 00:14

We have a Miele one and it’s great.

Thehop · 03/01/2020 00:15

Shark! AMA img still 2 years later

ineedaholidaynow · 03/01/2020 00:17

Recently bought a Miele Cat and Dog (very pleased with it so far and shocked by how little our old hoover was picking up!)

RainbowMum11 · 03/01/2020 00:18

Shark!! Absolutely flipping amazing!!

citizenp · 03/01/2020 00:33

It does cost a small fortune but I absolutely adore my Vorwerk Kobold. It is not well known in the UK but in Italy is extremely popular (type of thing that people ask for on their wedding list).I had a Dyson and made the switch a few months ago and finally understand all the fuss about the Kobold- never had floors cleaner than this! BUT price is very steep, although longevity is great (not uncommon to hear they last 20+ years!)

chocolatespiders · 03/01/2020 00:37

I have a sebo and it is fab. 10 years and still going strong. I use it every day.
You can try them in John Lewis.

Newyearnewnameforthis · 03/01/2020 00:44

Miele

NanooCov · 03/01/2020 00:49

I've just bought a Miele cat and dog (reduces on AO) and can't wait until it arrives. Dyson served us well for 7 years but it's finally died.

Gooseysgirl · 03/01/2020 00:50

My Miele Cat & Dog is 9 years old and powering away as good as the day we bought her!

lilmishap · 03/01/2020 00:52

What happened to your Hetty? My Henry is the greatest purchase I ever made
