I know there have been previous threads about this but there are new product lines coming out all the time. I'm going with my children tomorrow. I haven't been for about 6 months. What do.I need to look out for/essential purchases i can't overlook? Many thanks :)

If you're going for batteries, we have the rechargeable batteries and charger from Ikea and they're brilliant and long lasting.

Stop spouting bollocks then, dobby.

Ikea is £39 where I am.

I don’t think I’m spouting bollocks!

I read online the delivery charge was £39. We ordered a lot of large furniture and instore the delivery charge is £29. As we paid instore and ordered it from the store. It was delivered from that store in a non ikea van. I thought it was an excellent service.

Ragwort · 30/12/2019 08:12

Worth paying the delivery charge just to void the hell of shopping in Ikea Grin.

Their assembly service is also weirdly cheap in my area too.

Inanothertime · 30/12/2019 08:43

Take that back! It used to be a fixed price but not any longer!!

Frozen chocolate cake. Is amazing- can be sliced from frozen and eaten slightly defrosted. Is chewy like a brownie. Is also incredible is you microwave it. My kids are addicted. As am I.

Snap OP I'm going today too, glad I found this thread! We have glasses, a butter dish, Bath mat and freezer bags on the list so far. Need to try not to pick up too much more though as we are going to Costco afterwards (I know, dream day out) and we'll spend loads in there too!!

The big flip lid stackable recycling tubs are brilliant and have tidied up or kitchen and made putting out recycling much easier. The lidded cheese greater cannot be beaten. Round magnetic containers that stick to the fridge for storage of stock cubes etc, plus we have a magnetic mesh pot there too with shopping list paper and pens in - for jotting down things we need on the next shop. Wooden magazine racks for teens to keep school books organised. Small metal under desk filing draws that keeps stationery and paperwork in one place. Our stackable steamer is also great. Plus, our Ikea set of cutlery is everyone’s favourite - despite it just being bought as a cheap top up set.

Great suggestions, thanks everyone. I have a rather long list now and warned my husband to expect a rather large amount to go on the credit card :)

@SmudgeButt You are utterly correct of course. I was not mentioning the gravid lax to ensure that there was plenty left for me to scoff before I get to the herring!

Well that was a huge success. Got there just after 10am to an empty carpark. By the time I left it was rammed! Picked up the new 2020 catalogue and got the heavier furniture items -they are now constructed. The boys had hotdogs after we had gone through the checkouts. Unbiased a few bits and pieces but I can go back again or have them delivered. That won't cost me £39! Thanks for all your suggestions.

Great! Love a good day trip to IKEA Grin

I am a bit obsessed with their £4 roasting tin. I paired it with the Rukmini Iyer Roasting Tin cookbooks for various presents at Christmas this year and everyone has said they love them. The tin is really solid and super-useful. I also love their Ingabritta knitted blankets and never go without coming back with tealights.
