I know there have been previous threads about this but there are new product lines coming out all the time. I'm going with my children tomorrow. I haven't been for about 6 months. What do.I need to look out for/essential purchases i can't overlook? Many thanks :)

Yeah, I would order online but the £39 delivery charge is outrageous. I dont mind paying for delivery but that is ridiculous.

Lightbulbs, batteries, candles. Tea towels! If you’ve took a nice photo of the family over the festive period their frames are great, or otherwise for school photos. I usually come home with a succulent/cactus or four Grin

Skubb boxes so that all your Marie Kondo folded clothes stay upright Blush
Frozen cinnamon buns.
Not batteries. They’re rubbish.

Garlicinyoursoul · 29/12/2019 18:36

I find their vacuum bags are good for clothes storage, I put my summer clothes away in winter and vice versa, then store in the loft.
Their bath mats are lovely and last really well.
The children’s storage boxes and storage stations are good, especially after Christmas.
I love the mini daims!

Grumpos · 29/12/2019 18:42

The frozen vegetable meatballs are lovely! They cook in the microwave in about 4 minutes and my DC loves them, I really like them too!
The bag is huge and are only a few £

BentNeckLady · 29/12/2019 18:44

Isn’t Ikea stuff the same al over the world? Why would you need to get it imported from
America?

Lunafortheloveogod · 29/12/2019 18:44

Trofasts are good storage for kids rooms, instead of flimsy fabric boxes it’s those trays we had at school and you can mix n match sizes etc so you can have a washing basket sized one once their older.

Socktopus is also an essential and tea lights if you use them.

Always double check delivery though they now do small item deliveries at a more normal rate, like £3.99 I think. Some lighter furniture falls into the category too.

Sandwich bags, tupperware box (the big set of 18), napkins, meatballs, candles (obv), storage boxes, dish brushes...

NurseButtercup · 29/12/2019 18:59

I wish someone would volunteer themselves to do this with Ikea trips! A lot of their smaller stuff can't be purchased online and the postage charges are ridiculous anyway.

I would do this for a small fee to cover my time in store picking items, standing in the queue at the post office & cover my petrol. Smile

Sundancer77 · 29/12/2019 19:01

Forks..I always seem to need more 🤷‍♀️ Candles, tea towels, heart biscuits with chocolate in, meatballs..and before Christmas, their mulled type wine 🍷

aibutohavethisusername · 29/12/2019 19:02

You need to sign up for Ikea Family to get free tea & coffee Mon-Friday.

Imtryingveryhard · 29/12/2019 19:35

Ah ok, I'm already friends and family so missed this. And lots of other things it seems. Tomorrow will be a fun day for us all.

I think it's actually illegal to visit an Ikea without purchasing at least one Billy Bookcase in a lifetime. 😂

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 29/12/2019 20:32

Oh I was in 2 days ago - Edinburgh- and the Brie and cranberry open tart in the restaurant is AMAZING

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/12/2019 20:40

It’s about £2.95 for delivery. Hardly expensive.

Oldfail · 29/12/2019 20:43

The chocolate oat biscuits. In a cardboard box. Nicest biscuits ever especially if you are a tea dipper.

If they are bought for the office they disappear within half a day

clary · 29/12/2019 20:49

Giant stuffed soft toy shark. Biggest Christmas hit in our house.

(Reads thread) haha snap Lifebegins!

Also Peggy octopus is v useful.

lotusbell · 29/12/2019 20:55

It was the last time I ordered, @DobbyTheHouseElk. I think it's ok if you've only got a small number of light items, then add anything of bulk and the p&p shoots up.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 29/12/2019 20:56

Dobby, it's anything from £2.95 to £39 for delivery, not everything is available for online ordering

lotusbell · 29/12/2019 20:58

@NurseButtercup, I'll send you through my wishlist!
Sometimes I spot something I'd really like then it's either not available online or it's not worth the postage cost. Nearest ones to me are over 20 miles away and I don't drive and OH will absolutely not go!

Auridon4life · 29/12/2019 20:59

Candles, their Logan berry juice concentrate is lush. Glasses, blankets, napkins, and snacks.

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2019 20:59

Ikea jams are delicious. DS always requests a box of ginger biscuits. Their freezer bags are very good.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/12/2019 21:11

I know what the delivery charge is. I’ve had a delivery recently. However if you order instore. The delivery for furniture is £29!

Spitsandspots · 29/12/2019 21:13

I love my octopus

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/pressa-hanging-dryer-16-clothes-pegs-turquoise-10421217/

Fantastic value 100% cotton kids duvet sets. Stops DS being so sweaty

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 29/12/2019 21:38

I love the kallax shelving unit, £45. I got one for my living room and I'm going to get one for my boys bedrooms in the new year. The fabric boxes you can use for them are also cheap.
