ChristmasSweet · 26/12/2019 19:45

I'm annoyed Christmas is over. Had a cold since the 23rd and it got worse yesterday so I ended up asleep on the sofa.

I want Christmas to last for a week. One say is too short. Grin

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 26/12/2019 19:46

Really?

People kick the bucket in regret of not having been to the Boxing Day sales?

Elbeagle · 26/12/2019 19:46

I definitely won’t get to the end of my life wishing I’d spent more hours in the Next sales instead of relaxing at home with my family.

TheGinGenie · 26/12/2019 19:46

What does "the best it can be" mean though? The most things done? What if you don't achieve your list before you die?

TheGinGenie · 26/12/2019 19:48

I think a lot of people do actually get to the end of life wishing they'd been more relaxed about things! Isn't that one of the joys of getting older? You chill out?

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 26/12/2019 19:54

The best parts of life are never the parts you have planned and organised for yourself, but the parts where a serendipitous element beyond your own imaginings creeps in unexpectedly. Too rigid a timetable can jeopardise such delightful surprises.

cormorantyes · 26/12/2019 19:55

OP, I am very interested in what you say and the way you appear to live your life. As someone who is very lazy/reluctant to plan we probably do miss out. As per usual I have not yet made NYE plans. Can you share the research you have done around optimizing NYE fun?

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2019 19:57

This is the thread that keeps on giving Grin

Either the OP is a wind up merchant, completely crackers, has some deep seated issues or (apologies as I don't mean to offend) is on the autism spectrum.

Why make crackers when people have already made crackers for you to buy

Because they re full of plastic tat that gets thrown away. My sister bought some make your own crackers for Christmas this year and they all contained something that people wanted to keep and use. Oh, and they were carefully planned and prepared with precision Grin

See, I can outsmug you Grin

One last thing:

The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft a-gley, (often go awry)

drspouse · 26/12/2019 20:01

OP does seem very into buying stuff for the sake of buying stuff.

Huns2Getha4Eva · 26/12/2019 20:03

Awwww, op your been a bit of a killjoy arnt you. I no Chrismtas can be a pain sometimes, but theres things on telly and the sails can wait!!!! xxx

I'm only still here to find out what "properly researched crackers" are. I'm hoping the OP has an explanation scheduled for 20:05

Honeyroar · 26/12/2019 20:12

Nobody kicks the bucket wishing they’d spent less time enjoying themselves at Xmas and more time making lists of what to buy in the Boxing Day sales, surely! Relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends shouldn’t be a regret. And it doesn’t mean you don’t achieve things that you’d like to do in life if you relax.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 26/12/2019 20:13

@DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn, she hasn't answered me about how she researches which Next stores open their changing rooms during the sale yet (apparently you can research this). Don't hold your breath! Xmas Grin

tinytemper66 · 26/12/2019 20:15

I have enjoyed being entertained but am dying to know what bargains you managed to find in Next?

ilovesooty · 26/12/2019 20:25

With the OP's mindset it would br awful for her if she were to die spontaneously when her time comes.

Colabottles64 · 26/12/2019 20:26

I live my best life by making sure my life is the best it can be.

Spending any part of Christmas Day faffing around in your loft is in no way anybody living their best life!!!

bobstersmum · 26/12/2019 20:42

Decorations ripped down? On Xmas day? Are you actually scrooge?

Willow2017 · 26/12/2019 20:58

When my foot kicks that bucket at least my life’s to do list will be completed

What shite!

What if you have meticulously planned a weekend of doing something you had never done before and you died suddenly on the Friday? Uhh ahh big fat fail there.
😂😂😂

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/12/2019 21:20

You sound manic.

sandybanana · 26/12/2019 21:27

You say it with such pride OP that all your decorations are down by Christmas Day lunch , that it makes me feel sad. Genuinely, I don't know why you bother at all. Seriously.

I am more concerned for your mental health to be honest and I say that as someone who suffers from poor mental health. You really do sound manic and a bit unhinged.

Thanks

HomeAlone39 · 26/12/2019 21:30

Taking my tree down signals the end of the holidays and the dreary return to work. I'm in no rush to do either. Plus it looks so nice Xmas SmileXmas GrinXmas WinkXmas Shock

misskatamari · 26/12/2019 22:27

I hope this is someone pulling our leg as it's really depressing reading, and the OPs way of writing actually makes me feel quite stressed and anxious. I agree with the above posters about mental health. Planning every moment of things and moving on from Christmas, whilst you're barely even half way through the day, is not "being organised". And not doing those things doesn't make people lazy or disorganised, it's just normal. People like to relax sometimes, it's good for you. Living mindfully and enjoying the moment is good for you. This thread is bonkers!

Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 22:28

No loft, it’s the garage actually. And we don’t spend long. We’ve got it down to a fine art... 20 minutes and it’s packed away.... We’d done Christmas by lunchtime so why string it out!
