Should I have told the (disgusting) pharmacist to use a tissue?

I was in Boots today buying some box set Christmas presents. The pharmacist was helping out at the till and with wrapping. She had a stinking head cold and cough and kept wiping her nose with either her hand or her wrist alternatively like she was waiting for the TMI snot to dry (I know totally disgusting!!). She also had such a red face that she must have had a high temp. Me and another shopper looked in horror at each other but neither of us said anything! I'm non confrontational and stayed silent while she took my card and wrapped presents. Now I think they're contaminated with her dose so I think I will unwrap them, spritz with anti-bac spray and rewrap. Her wrapping was dreadful anyway. Would you have said to her to at least use a tissue??

I would have said no thank you. Asked for a refund and gone elsewhere or started again on another till

Bananacloud · 16/12/2019 14:28

I think you need to get over it!

LaurieFairyCake · 16/12/2019 14:48

Don't touch them for 8 hours and the virus will be dead

Confusedbeetle · 16/12/2019 14:51

Just wash your hands and get over it

britnay · 16/12/2019 14:52

I would have asked to speak to a supervisor and asked why they hadn't sent the poor soul home as she was very obviously unwell and spreading infection around her colleagues and shoppers.

@GetbusywiththeFizzee what's the matter with you? Not everyone lives in a hectic city! I live in a quite village out of town and pharmacists often help out at the tills when not dealing with prescriptions. You need to chill out!

"Told"? Maybe asked politely, or requested would be better.

If you were so horrified you should have just opted to pay, leave and wrap your gift at home. Regardless of her using a tissue or not if her cold was as bad as you say it would have done little to prevent you or your gifts from infection.

Anti- bacterial spray won’t help against a cold, they’re viral.

Glitteryone · 16/12/2019 16:48

Yuck, I wouldn’t have been able to go through with the purchases.

22Giraffes · 16/12/2019 16:53

I'm still stuck on Boots offering a gift wrapping service Shock if she was making you feel that repulsed you could politely declined the wrapping, queue at another till or come back later?

Lulualla · 16/12/2019 16:55

The virus will be dead by tonight. Chill out

Shesalittlemadam · 16/12/2019 16:57

@Amanduh The Pharmacists help out on the tills at my local Boots too. Please stop Troll Hunting!!

Shesalittlemadam · 16/12/2019 16:57

Also, all Boots offer gift wrapping for Chanel products, I know that for a fact as I've used it

britnay · 16/12/2019 17:02

though its unlikely for a random Boots in a small village to sell perfumes, plus they likely wouldn't have much counter space.

britnay · 16/12/2019 17:03

I can say for definite that not ALL Boots stores sell Chanel products, therefore you cannot have Channel products gift wrapped at all Boots stores.

HanginWithMyGnomies · 16/12/2019 17:12

Love how so many believed the Aussie DIL thread (me included), but so many troll hunting on this 😂

@Butterfly98 I’d have had to have walked away, minus my purchase. That’s grim! Brings a new meaning to sticky tape!
