we have been eating these for many years. Recently when we try to cook them; even for ten minutes they remain doughy, claggy and make us retch. When cooked they no longer resemble crumpets with the little hole. Just a lump of dough.

It might be your toaster/grill. They're fine here.

Ponoka7 · 11/12/2019 15:28

Fine here as well.

msmith501 · 11/12/2019 15:29

Maybe a poor batch.

Oopsy41 · 11/12/2019 15:29

I had them for my tea last night and dinner today and they were very tasty!

followthestardis · 11/12/2019 15:30

slightly browner batches here recently but still the best crumpets out there.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 11/12/2019 15:30

No problems with them here!

LoseLooseLucy · 11/12/2019 15:34

I like them near burnt so always toast them for ages.

StepCatsmother · 11/12/2019 15:52

Warburtons crumpets are the best crumpets! Xmas Shock

ChessIsASport · 11/12/2019 15:54

They are my favourites. No problems here.

twoturtledove · 11/12/2019 15:56

They're my current pregnancy craving and no issues with toasting them!

Goodnightjude1 · 11/12/2019 15:56

Warburton crumpet lover here too! Never had a bad one yet!
My DD only puts them in the toaster for a min so they’re still chewy though...this infuriates me far more than it should.
I like a crunchy crumpet Xmas Grin

Sirzy · 11/12/2019 15:57

I always find that with warburtons. Asda own are the best I have found

ShirleyPhallus · 11/12/2019 15:58

What a dramatic household to all be retching over slightly undercooked crumpets Grin

Emmabryant123 · 11/12/2019 16:01

Fine here to

Mickhasnotorso · 11/12/2019 16:01

You cook them for 10 minutes?!

GameSetMatch · 11/12/2019 16:13

Both children had them for breakfast and they were totally fine!

Fernie6491 · 11/12/2019 16:15

The cooking for 10 minutes surprises me. I've only ever toasted for 3 or 4 minutes, giving them a slightly crisper outside, but a lovely soft centre so the butter is soaked in - delicious.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/12/2019 16:18

I cook for 5 mins. Perfect.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 11/12/2019 16:19

Mine are fine when toasted but notice they have started to off a lot quicker than normal.

adaline · 11/12/2019 16:19

Fine here too - think it's just you OP!

Mistlewoeandwhine · 11/12/2019 16:28

It’s because Warburtons fund the Tories ( true). The evil has leeched into their crumpets.

TriangularRatbag · 11/12/2019 17:16

Damn. I'll be sticking to toast and jam then.

Arnoldthecat · 11/12/2019 17:17

I wonder why it is that only Warburtons can make a decent crumpet? Ive tried others but Warbs are the best.

5foot5 · 11/12/2019 17:33

Do they still make the giant crumpets?

redwoodmazza · 11/12/2019 18:31

I toast them a lot more now than I ever used to because they are so doughy...
I think they have changed over the years.
