I'm new here. Very embarrassed to even start to write this. I have been hAving this for a long long time now. I am a very clean woman I shower every single day. But I am constantly sweating down there and it smells really bad. Even during sex I can smell it. I'm so embarrassed and don't know what to do. I've also heard to no use soap down there and just water. I have bought soap free wash and it just doesn't seem to help. What can
I do?

because it's just a con to sell you stuff you don't need - at best the stuff is harmless, more likely it will worsen the problem
just go to a GP !

rhowton · 09/12/2019 23:16

It may be an STI. Chlamydia can cause a horrible smell and discharge!! Please please go and see your Doctor or a GUM clinic if you are embarrassed to see a doctor!

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 09/12/2019 23:17

What's with the unkind messages? She's worried and asking for reassurance and advice. Mumsnet has been so helpful to me in similar circumstances when I've been worried about medical issues in the night. No need to make her feel worse for asking.

CSIblonde · 09/12/2019 23:19

Fishy smell is BV, rotting, damp earthy smell & frothy discharge is Trichomoniasis(spelling?) . See your GP or Gum clinic if the Thrush & BV test you can buy is negative.

userhdhdhdhd · 09/12/2019 23:23

You can buy a canesten test on amazon which tells you if you have BV, Thrush or Trichinosis. It's just a swab that changes colour. If it is BV then you can order a gel on amazon that treats it quickly. Hope you get it sorted, OP. Ignore the smart arse comments from PPs - some people just like to feel superior

steff13 · 10/12/2019 00:04

Wash with lots of clean water, back to front.

Front to back, isn't it?

MajesticWhine · 10/12/2019 00:05

The only time something like this happened to me, it was a bit of retained tampon. The GP had to remove it.

Littlejets · 10/12/2019 00:12

It really does sound like BV. Don't be embarrassed seeing your GP, they are likely to give you a home test and then you can drop it into the reception the next day.

babymomma123 · 21/12/2019 02:58

I'm so sorry ignore my comment I've written on the wrong one 😬

MoonlightMistletoe · 21/12/2019 03:07

Sounds like BV , you can buy some gels from the chemist or supermarket.

Also agree it's a good idea to go to the clinic to get an updated sexual health check.

Pooshweens · 21/12/2019 03:19

Haven't read all the comments, no idea why anyone would be nasty or unhelpful.

But. Just to say, I'm sure the doc will know straight away what the problem is and sort you out

I'm all up for being honest and open about these things, it's just Another body part after all

Good luck

MidnightCircus · 21/12/2019 06:57

The sexual health clinic is absolutely fine to visit (I go at least once a year, not because I have anything but because I think it's a damn good idea). It's not embarrassing at all. They will ask personal questions (obviously), but there is zero judgement. You will never see the people again, so don't be embarrassed! If nothing else, it will rule out having anything and set your mind at rest. I honestly think everybody should go that's sexually active, it would help stop the spread of STIs.
