I'm checking my bank account and emails every half hour but I'm not hopeful. I recieved an email 2 days ago asking for more information even though I provided it already twice,!
Seems the claims prices hasn't been as, smooth as we were told. So many people still waiting for refunds from CEGA who cannot even give any updates over the phone.
It's do frustrating!
Hoping for good news soon!

I had to provide further information about 10 days ago, and when I did it said they would respond within 60 days. So not expecting a refund anytime soon 😡

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 10:55

It really has been a total farce, I'm on a Facebook page and there's so many people in the same boat. I hope what I've sent is accepted this time! We just, want to book another holiday for next year. So gutted for everyone who lost out, esp those with weddings booked x

I was asked to provide a bank account statement with details and signed permission to pay the money into the bank. Hoping it comes through soon, need to pay the other holiday I booked!

What Facebook group are you in, I’m just following the caa on Twitter

Coldilox · 06/12/2019 10:57

We’ve already rebooked ours, had to pay a much higher deposit to keep overall price lower, so could really do with the £600 that I am owed. Am really not happy with the way things have been dealt with, they said all claims would be paid within 60 days and then went back on it!

antisupermum · 06/12/2019 11:00

We were contacted by Protect Claims (an insurer working on behalf of CAA) and asked to send a recent bank statement, confirmation of our original payment etc. Sent all of this to them via email the next day and received an auto response within 24 hours to say the info was received and we would hear bac from them in 28 days.

Its a disgrace that they tell people 60 days for a refund, only to be contacted 2 days before that deadline to submit info, and then its now a further 28 days for an update. To say we were angry is an understatement. We had to book a replacement holiday on a credit card which is accruing interest every day they make us wait.

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 11:02

It's this page on Facebook..... Lots of angry customers! www.facebook.com/groups/527723634690411/

I'm waiting for over 4k back! Had to provide bank statements and my atol certificate with 2 days to go too! Total stalling tactics to extend their deadline! Unfortunately we are held to ransom Angry

My partner phoned the helpline, on hold for 25 minutes, as we received an email from a company we had never heard of asking for our bank details.

Obviously we didn't reply to this email, wanted to check first, but so have lots of others!

I knew they wouldn't make it easy

timeforawine · 06/12/2019 11:27

I've heard nothing, can you tell me which email address it came from so i can look out for it

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 11:39

Check your spam folder, the caa are saying if you haven't recieved anything then you will definitely be paid this weekend. My email was from [email protected] but if you booked direct with Thomas cook then right path or protect claims will be dealing with it.
I pray you aren't with cega!

I have just discovered that Protect Claims are the same company as Right Paths. Two companies I have seen been mentioned on the FB group I am on. I had no success calling PC but I did get through to Right Paths on the second attempt.

They advised that they can see all our submitted info and that the payment should be with us over the weekend, worst case scenario on Monday. I queried why my status online is still showing as "Awaiting Review" but she said that just meant its waiting for the payment to be confirmed as processed.

I'm not sure I am wholly confident in what they said but I am willing to be patient for a few more days. I did manage to sweet talk her direct email address from her so I can contact her on Tuesday if no payment is made, and cut out the hideous call queues. In fairness, she was a very nice woman that I spoke to, who I imagine is getting a lot of grief today.

My advice to anyone calling/emailing these companies today is to be pleasant; you are far more likely to get the claim handlers on your side and therefore their willingness to help!

Aloe6 · 06/12/2019 12:20

Does anyone know where you stand if only part of the holiday was booked with TC? Last minute (who was the tour operator) stated a refund for the TC flights would be sent but nothing has been received. Have been chasing up through Resolver with no luck so far.

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 12:27

Yeah nothing for it other than to wait antisupermum. I'm with cega though so I can't access anything online to see my status or call them! Right path are definitely paying out so many more claims
I'm not too concerned as we arent desperate for the cash back but I dont like the way it's been handled.
If by some miracle I get refunded this weekend I'll be very surprised.!
I hope you recieve your refund soon x

Where can I check the status online?

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 12:28

Aloe6 did you fill out the original refund form on the 7th October? There was 2 different sections, one for flights only and the other for atol bonded holidays.

antisupermum · 06/12/2019 12:29

@Hannah4banana I hope you recieve your refund soon x

You too! Fingers crossed x

Hannah4banana · 06/12/2019 12:29

Coldilox if your ref begins with a z you can check it km right path. If it's 100 then it's cega who have no online system x

Coldilox · 06/12/2019 12:30

Ah, al my emails are from cega so I can’t check

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/12/2019 12:31

Talking about it on Radio 4 You and Yours just now.

Scotsrule · 06/12/2019 19:02

So after I posted that I checked my account and my refund was in. I then received an automated email thanking me for the documents and they would check them and process the claim soon 🤷‍♀️

Hannah4banana · 08/12/2019 11:11

Still waiting.... I haven't tried calling anyone yet but if I've not heard anything by tuesday I'm going to contact the caa. Latest update seems to be we are all going to be paid by then Hmm

OP posts:
IdleBet · 08/12/2019 11:24

I booked flights only on debit card. Tried chargeback but was rejected by my bank. Submitted a claim through travel insurance 3 weeks ago and it's 'currently with the underwriter'. Does that sound optimistic?
If my travel policy didn't cover me for end supplier failure then wouldn't I be rejected before going to underwriting?

antisupermum · 09/12/2019 11:16

I was told by Right Paths on Friday that my payment would be in over the weekend, worst case scenario Monday. Still nothing as of yet and can't get through on the phones at all. It rings (forever), gets picked up and then they put the phone down. Also, the email address the "nice" lady gave me on Friday when I spoke to her bounced back, so she gave me a fake email address. Sadly all my faith in them treating people like humans and giving genuine information has gone out the window. Not sure what else we can do but just wait, and wait, and wait. They are clearly just saying what they have to on phone calls to get rid of you, emails aren't answered and the CAA are simply saying they have assigned cases to the relevant third party and to deal with them directly (cop out). Frustrating is an understatement.

Hannah4banana · 09/12/2019 12:00

There's an average 90 minute wait for the caa helpline then you're cut off! Absolutely shocking, even if they just issue everyone with an update!
