To be annoyed

So I finished all of my Christmas shopping and told my DH because I was pleased. I bought him a number of gifts and one that he'd asked for about 2 months ago. He asked whether I'd bought his gift and he said he was going to buy call of duty as he'd wanted it for ages. I told him we didn't have enough for him to get cod as I'd spent about £80 on his Christmas present. I know he hasn't bought me a birthday present which is in 3 days or Christmas present and we're skint as have 2 dc's and 3/4 birthdays in November/December. When I told him we didn't have enough he said 'don't worry just send back what you've bought me'. Aibu to be really annoyed as I've put so much thought into his gifts

Twat

churchandstate · 29/11/2019 17:15

Big twat.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 29/11/2019 17:16

Do it! Send it back. Or sell it and buy yourself something to the same value!

He said a cock.

What possible reason could he have that you find acceptable for not getting you a birthday present?

madcatladyforever · 29/11/2019 17:17

What an absolute bastard. And a child. Send his gifts back and buy yourself a lovely birthday gift with the money Flowers

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 29/11/2019 17:17

He is a cock!

poorlymatchedsocks · 29/11/2019 17:22

@IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory I know he's going to get me something tomorrow and he made a big song and dance of saying he was going to buy me something but turns out he just wanted to go with his friend to buy COD. I don't doubt he'll buy me a gift but not to the same price as we can't afford it. It was also his birthday less than a month ago and he got a £250 PlayStation which id saved up for all year and 5+ games so he's just being greedy.

Yep. Send his present back. How much is COD? Can’t believe he’s had a £250 PlayStation, it’s your birthday, plus Christmas and he thinks it’s ok to just go and buy games because he wants one. How childish.

Raindancer411 · 29/11/2019 17:27

How old is he?!? Sure you haven't actually got an extra child?

DoctorStickers · 29/11/2019 17:29

He's acting like a little boy!! What a twat OP. Flowers

poorlymatchedsocks · 29/11/2019 17:31

@IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory it's £50 plus. He wants it because his friend at work is getting it too. I'm so tempted to send it back, I've literally been searching online everyday to get him what he wanted for the price we can afford, he hasn't even noticed that I'm upset.

I couldn’t be with someone that selfish.

egontoste · 29/11/2019 17:48

Oh honestly, he needs to grow up. Twat.

puds11 · 29/11/2019 17:54

Send it back. Fuck him. Buy something for yourself, don’t rely on his shit gift.

So you have no money but you buy all that stuff for your twat dh which is more than your kids when he will give you shit. Send it back. Stop being a mug.

MsAnnnov · 29/11/2019 18:25

He sounds like an immature moron. He should be getting you something nice for your birthday instead of buying another game for himself, especially if he just spent so much on a new console and 5 games already. Also please don't spend £50+ on the new Call of Duty game, it's cheaper than that on the official PlayStation store (£44) and in many retail shops. AO have it for £39.

MsAnnnov · 29/11/2019 18:27

Sorry i missed your original point... He's a moron, send back everything you got him and get your kids something extra or treat yourself.

poorlymatchedsocks · 29/11/2019 18:52

I told him he'd really hurt my feelings and explained why and he said 'fine don't take it back, I'll have what you bought me and I'll just buy it for myself when I get paid on the 20th' then I told him he was being unreasonable with always needing stuff and thinking about himself. I asked him if he'd bought me anything for Christmas and where he'd get the money from and he said 'he wasn't getting me anything as id told him there was nothing I could think of that I wanted at he the time when he'd asked me before' I feel so down in the dumps now which is such a shame as I've had such a good day with the kids

Ask him why it's ok for him to get much better presents than anyone else. Then send his stuff back and spend the money on yourself. If you are at all unsure, wrap his stuff and keep it separate. When he gives you your present, decide what you want to give him.
Have a good think. Then leave him. You already have children.

Sn0tnose · 29/11/2019 19:09

What a knobhead. A selfish, childish, petulant knobhead.

Take his Christmas presents back, get a refund and buy yourself something nice for Christmas. You’re buying the kids presents, you’re buying his presents. Who is thinking of you?

KarmaStar · 29/11/2019 19:14

I wonder if you will receive cod for your birthday/Christmas gift op?
I hope not and he buys you something special..
Early...Happy Birthday 🎂!

HelloAgainYou · 29/11/2019 19:14

Why the hell would you spend more on him than your kids? Take his stuff back and give him a taste of his own medicine. Quite frankly I'd consider what future I have with such a selfish twat.

JumpyLiz · 29/11/2019 19:20

Genuine question, why do you put up with it?

Vulpine · 29/11/2019 19:22

Is he 15?

poorlymatchedsocks · 29/11/2019 19:24

@HelloAgainYou purely because material things have always been so important to him. The kids still get a good £80 quid allowance each as they're only 1and 3 but sometimes I think the same. He's always done little things like this and for some reason I just give him the benefit of the doubt because his personality is just naturally selfish and a lot of the time he doesn't realise he's being inconsiderate or selfish but today he's. Just being plain nasty
