To want a...

"granny trolley" as my husband calls them. You know, the shopping trolleys on two wheels? I really want one. I really struggle carrying shopping and chasing little ones. I don't like putting it on the back of the pushchair as it ruins the pushchair and there's the inevitable tip up when little one gets out of the pushchair. It seems like a no brainer to me but my husband says "you're not even 30 yet!". I can use my trolley and LO can walk alongside me which she prefers!
AIBU or is my husband? Grin

I have considered it before but never been brave enough to face the stares 😂 so I can't really say who's BU in this, but you are right. Hanging shopping on your pram does break them!

thatguiltyfeeling · 22/11/2019 07:56

Your husband is bu! I'm getting one as soon as my little one doesn't need the pushchair, and that'll be around 23! I don't drive and I've got a really bad back and other various bones so need something that doesn't put pressure anywhere but is large enough to hold child's things, and any shopping.

Qwerty3210 · 22/11/2019 07:56

@LuckyBug89 haha I did think about the stares!

AuntieStella · 22/11/2019 07:57

Your DH, and wider society making ageist assumptions are BU.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 22/11/2019 07:59

I kind of think they're horrendous but kind of wish I was brave enough Grin

Frootytooty567 · 22/11/2019 08:01

Thanks all! Lol I thought about the stares but I'll just have to take it Grin

I would love one but I've also been barred by a loving spouse Sad

MIdgebabe · 22/11/2019 08:07

It is Becoming more normal to see younger people with them. Might be related to younger people using cars less

Frootytooty567 · 22/11/2019 08:09

"are you getting a commode as well" Hmm

k1233 · 22/11/2019 08:10

Maybe the loving spouses could do the shopping. If not, then get the trolley Smile

Frootytooty567 · 22/11/2019 08:10

@BlueBirdGreenFence I think you should get one to spite them haha!

@k1233 exactly what I said! Thank you! Grin

I had one for carrying books to and from school (teacher not student) and I loved it!

Lllot5 · 22/11/2019 08:13

I’ve seen some modern ones with more up to date designs and patterns on them.
I do have nightmares about going shopping with my mum and being made to drag her one home. I’m holding off for as long as possible.

MrsMozartMkII · 22/11/2019 08:13

I bought one for DD and she's definitely no granny :D

She's moved into town for uni and parking is a pain. Now she can nip to thre shops and get a decent amount of stuff, especially if she takes a rucksack as well.

It's this one: Karabar Fully Insulated Wheeled Large Shopping Trolley Bag 95 cm 2.3 kg 32 litres with 2 Wheels, Shoulder Strap

GaaaaarlicBread · 22/11/2019 08:14

I have one and I don’t even have children . I can’t drive and neither does DH, so we use it when we do a bit of a bigger shop and don’t want to be carrying lots of bags . Ours is just plain black . Not like the floral granny ones but even if it was , it shouldn’t matter ! We have had a few tossers yell out their cars ‘hiya granny and grandpa ‘ but we just ignore them 😉 they’re better for the environment too if you’re into that ! X

Ijustwanttoretire · 22/11/2019 08:17

I have one and although I am over 30 (!) I have had it for a long time. I love it - and, as is always the case, as soon as you get one you realise how many people have them, of all ages. Tbh it doesn't matter what age you are - carrying half a dozen bags of shopping is not good for your back or arms... Go for it!!

Frootytooty567 · 22/11/2019 08:18

@MrsMozartMkII thanks for the suggestion! Looks great!

@Itsemily what idiots shouting at you out their cars.
I might just get a floral one to spite DH... Grin

@Ijustwanttoretire Exactly i suffer with back pain already so I don't want to make it worse! My FIL said that he sees a lot of young people with them now and encouraged me to get one lol

Boom45 · 22/11/2019 08:24

I had a good back pack for this, I couldn't push the pram and pull a trolley because it was too heavy.

Davros · 22/11/2019 08:38

I've seen Very fashionable Japanese girls in central London with them. I've got one too (old gimmer) and no one bats an eyelid. You just have to "own" it

Angela9 · 22/11/2019 08:41

Put the shopping IN the buggy not on it

cakeandchampagne · 22/11/2019 08:43

His opinion is useless, unlike a shopping trolley. Smile

Frootytooty567 · 22/11/2019 08:45

@cakeandchampagne lol!!
