AIBU?
to think Boots.com is utter shite
FleetwoodMacsDreams · 21/11/2019 19:15
I have had several past experiences of Boots.com being shit. Namely orders being sent to incorrect addresses, personalised Christmas items being lost and not re-delivered until after Christmas, items never ready to collect in store etc.
Well, I thought I would give them another go last week... more fool me. I spent £40 with the promise of a free beauty box worth £64.99. Due to collect in store next day. All good. Except the order was delayed, then only half of it turned up (funnily enough only the bits I had paid for), and now my "free gift" is nowhere to be seen. Customer services have basically said tough luck, the items were "subject to availability" and there's nothing they can do about it.
Is it just me that seems to constantly have a poor experience with Boots.com or has anyone else been ripped off by them too?

Omg I was literally going to start a thread about boots today.
So I needed a photo book very last minute (my fault but whatever) they advertise on their website that the do a same day photo book service to collect in store (max 30 pages) so I made it (took a while) then get to the paying and delivery section. 1-2 weeks. WHAT. But obviously I've put all that effort in now so I pay then contact their online chat and they keep just sending me their delivery times. And I said they are avoiding my question which is why are they falsely advertising that they offer this service if they don't? Funnily enough they completely ignored and didn't reply. So annoyed. I could have got a book cheaper with another company in that time..

I agree! Also the website itself is awful. I've noticed a lot lately that HUGE shops have the worst websites, broken links, not at all user friendly, bad navigation. Off the top of my head, Marks and Spencer's website caused me so much frustration the other day I gave up, Mothercare is awful too as is TK Maxx
FleetwoodMacsDreams · 21/11/2019 19:49
So if people aren't using Boots where are you buying all your skincare products and cosmetics from? Baby stuff and general toiletries I already buy at the supermarket, so I need to find somewhere else to buy the more fancy bits I try and treat myself to every now and again... I am open to suggestions so I don't get sucked back into trying to buy from Boots again!

Yes, this I very boring but happened today. I’ve ordered quite a few bits to collect in store previously with no issues. Ordered a few bits 3 weeks ago with delivery due the next day, then got a text saying due to technical issues delivery would be delayed, that’s fine didn’t mind waiting a few days.
Over a week later still heard nothing so called customer services who said it had been dispatched but store hadn’t marked it as received so maybe they’d misplaced it, they put in a replacement order that would be delivered within 2 days.
Got the same text again so called them to cancel as it seemed there was a problem and if they couldn’t deliver then I’d order somewhere else. They said that the original order was now marked as received but for some reason I’d had no update so to go to the store and see if they had it, if not call them back. Went today and they did have my order, get home and they’ve given me the original plus half of the new one, I’ve considered it as a messing around bonus.

Iggleonkupsy They aren’t falsely advertising anything. It is a service they offer, just not to all of their stores. When you were told it would be 1-2 week delivery that’s because your local store does not offer that service, and so you shouldn’t have gone ahead.
If your local store doesn’t offer it, there’s nothing customer services can do.
FleetwoodMacsDreams · 21/11/2019 20:04
@bananamonkey your extra half of the order didn't happen to be a free beauty box did it?!... if so, it's mine I tell you! And I want it back!
Honestly, they don't seem to know their arse from their elbow. How do they get it so wrong?! When Boots disappears from the high street it will be because their website has dicked everyone around or because they've given away everything for free.
bananamonkey · 21/11/2019 20:17
@FleetwoodMacsDreams ha ha no you’d be welcome to it if it was!
Their website is shit, I ordered a Snuzpod from there because they had 20% off all nursery furniture but I just couldn’t get the discount to apply after multiple attempts so spent ages on the phone to a poor woman who couldn’t make it work for ages either. Got there in the end but it was painful!

I hate superdrug so I always use boots, but I had a huge issue in the store lately. I'll say now though, I did get a lovely compensation from the GM so I have 'got over it'.
I went in and wanted to get someone on a makeup counter to match my skin tone for a foundation (I'm always between two colours so I like a second opinion when getting a new product). Anyways, no one was on from that counter (Rimmel) so I asked if someone from on cosmetics can just help me make a decision. I had the foundation sample on my jaw and just wanted a second opinion. Didn't need to be someone specially trained or anything, just someone with eyes really! The lady came over and basically stropped at me that she wasn't trained and couldn't help. I said I just need her opinion because I wasn't 100% sure. She just kept huffing at me and explaining that she wasn't trained by Rimmel. So I said okay, no problem, I'll just do it myself. Then she argued with me that she was trying to help and I was being difficult. She started to shout at me, and then grabbed a wipe and went to wipe the makeup off my jaw. I stepped back as I didn't want her to touch me and she told me to get out of the shop if I didn't want her help.
So I just went straight to the till and asked for a manager. Received a canny gift voucher and a bag of goodies (I think it was a gift with purchase...maybe yours OP!).
I've never purchased anything on their website as the shop is next to where I work and I like makeup shopping...but I definitely won't be buying anything off there now
FleetwoodMacsDreams · 21/11/2019 20:33
@Biancadelrioisback I was told that as it was the "free gift" part of my order that went missing I wasn't due any form of compensation. I think that's what annoyed me the most. They didn't even say "sorry, here's £10 of Advantage points" (which you will never be able to spend online unless you order something for that exact amount anyway)
FleetwoodMacsDreams · 21/11/2019 20:40
Just thought I would log in to my old Superdrug account. Turns out it's still in my maiden name (and I got married in 2014). Also my address is waaaaayyy out of date. So off I click to update these details and guess what, "your details can't be updated right now. please try again later" ffs!
Blueglaze · 21/11/2019 20:50
I incorrectly assumed you could use your points to part-pay and went to get some expensive vitamin stuff which came to £36. I had £32 in points and when I said I’d pay the difference the woman on the checkout looked at me as though I had two heads and very rudely said “no you can’t do that, you’ve never been able to do that” then proceeded to repeat herself over and over again while I rummaged for a credit card as I didn’t have £36 cash on me. Just kept staring at me with a withering cat’s bum expression and repeating herself as though I was failing to grasp the concept. Dick.
Pinkblueberry · 21/11/2019 20:56
I did use boots.com recently as I had some points on my card, and I use one of their soap and glory make up products regularly, my order was fine -but I haven’t been to a boots store in ages - over all it seems overpriced and I’ve had bad experiences with the pharmacy in our local one so stick to Superdrug now, much better. BandM is also great for cosmetics and toiletries bargains!
LakieLady · 21/11/2019 21:00
Because I'm over 60, I get 10 points for every £ I spend on Boots own brand stuff, including medicines.
Those points really stack up quickly, and keep me in Clarins skincare. I order online and collect locally, and I've never had any problems.
The service in the (tiny, local) shop is diabolical though, there are always massive queues and their stock control is appalling. Even if I you went in there for just 2 things, they wouldn't have one of them,
